For once....

couldn't the Cubs have won today? Huh? I soooo did not want the Astros in the playoffs. All the Cubbies had to do was win one little game, produce a tie between Houston and Philly, and decrease the Astros chances. But no, it wasn't to be. My boys finished the season 4 games under .500 and 4th in the Central-behind even the lowly Brew-Crew. It was a sad, sad year to be a Cubs fan. I actually prefer the years prior to 2003 when you expected the Cubs to be crappy and you didn't care if they only won 60 games. The Cubs of 2003 spoiled us all, and actually ruined the mystique. When they won the division and actually made the playoffs, we had hope. Hey! Maybe this is the year the damn Billy Goat Curse ends. Well, that didn't happen, but it created the thinking that this team is good and should contend every year. It gave us false hope. Perhaps they are on their way to being the consistently crappy Cubs of old. One can only hope. Till then, as every great Cubs fan says-THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!!!!!
