I'm Like A Bird

Oh what a weekend.....it was so good I spent all day Sunday paying for it. What WASN'T good was my Cubs....uh, boys, you are starting to irk me, FYI (not that they care if their lone fan in St. Louis is pissed off with them, but still...). They've now lost four in a row and are starting to see those pesky Cardinals chip away at their NL Central lead. Me no likey. The news doesn't get any better as the boys continue their road trip (where they are apparently allergic to winning) in San Fran for four games....then they'll be here for the HUGE 4th of July weekend series against the Cardinals...fun. I gotta be honest, I'm kinda not looking forward to it. I mean, I am TOTALLY looking forward to actually being at the games (both Saturday and Sunday!) but I'm not looking forward to witnessing my Cubs get their asses handed to them on a platter. At least Big Z will be back on Friday and Soriano is getting close to coming back. Keeping my fingers crossed for no more injuries. At least Sweet Lou got himself kicked out of the game last night...it was pretty lame if you asked me....Lou has deserved to get kicked out lots of times before, but this was pretty weak...at least Lou got his money's worth before exiting. Maybe it'll ignite the team and was all part of Lou's master plan.....guess we shall see.....

So, Friday night, Tanya and I met up with Alex and his cougar for some drinks and some awesome pizza at Three Monkeys (we also made a pit stop at my favorite place, The Tin Can). It was an early night, however, as someone whose name rhymes with Alex P. Keaton, was quite sleepy from having worked until 4:00am and was a bit of a party pooper... :) Saturday was spent running errands and watching my Cubs lose, then I met up with the girls for our Big Night Out. Oh it was soooooooo much fun. We met at Erin's then cruised on downtown in Carrie's convertible (my carefully straightened hair now quite windblown) and had some dinner at Morgan Street. After that, we went over to Sundeckers to have a drink (Val knows the bartender) and check out the flooded Mississippi River.....we became intrigued by Erin's sparrow necklace and decided that perhaps the sparrow should be the subject of some, um, "artistic" photos...we got a picture of him drinking a Long Island Iced Tea, floating in the air and posing next to the Sundeckers sign. He was a busy bird.

After our bird fun, we headed over to Lumiere Place, the new downtown casino. I mean, it was alright as far as casinos go, looks like all the rest of them, if you ask me (except for The Stables in Miami, Oklahoma...that place was a DUMP!). I will have you know that this girl came out ahead....oh yea, ahead SIX DOLLARS! Holla! :) We were high rollers playing the penny slots.....

Sometime during the evening I made the mistake of mentioning that it was Pride Weekend in St. Louis. Now, it should be noted that my friend Carrie LOVES the gays. She does, she can't help it. So once I mentioned it was Pride Weekend, I knew that at some point we'd be heading to the gay bars....Carrie suggested I text my precious Mikey Poo to see where he was (because, DUH, of course he'd be out!) and we found him alright......us gals shut down the gay bar my friends! Out of control. That and having some random dudes from The Congo who said they were straight trying to get our phone numbers...uh, sorry, not in the business of giving out my phone number...especially to strange dudes from The Congo......This old lady rolled home around 3:30am....I was awake with the sun, however (like 6am), which was quite unpleasant.....I was up for awhile, then took a nap and they pretty much proceeded to be a giant pile of crap the rest of the day. It was pretty sweet.

Now today (thus far), I am tired, cranky, hormonal and want to be left alone. Thanks. Oh yea, and we are crazy busy at work today which I totally do not dig. Me sleepy. Me wanna go home.

Ouch!

My precious Cubbies got a lil spankin' yesterday at the hands of the Orioles. 11-3. Ouch. It ain't gonna get any easier as they are playing the Chi-sox this weekend....on the Southside. Led by that crazy-ass Ozzie Guillen, there's no telling what may ensue this weekend. And my Cubbies are dropping like flies, now Scott "don't call me Stevie" Eyre is out with some "soreness in his groin" (never a good thing, I'd imagine).

I think I am slowly being driven to the point of insanity....there is a doctor here at work who shall remain nameless whose office is now within spitting distance of my lowly cubicle now that we've moved buildings. What is driving me insane, you may ask? Well, it's the music he insists on listening to. Today's choice is some classical number that he listens to over and over and OVER again. Earlier in the week? It was some snazzy Irish-jig music. I have threatened to actually start jigging in the hallway if the tunes continue.....

HEEEEEEEY party people, you are lookin at this week's STAR employee (at least for my team). When I was awarded this prestigious honor today (complete with a literal gold star to tape to the outside of my cubicle AND a $3 coupon for the cafeteria downstairs), my first reaction was "really, what did I do?". I didn't think I was being particularly star-like this week, but hey, I'll take it.

The weekend is finally upon us (yay!). What is everyone doing? There are rumors of us going to Fairmount Park to see the horse races tonight (first stops include Alex's house and happy hour, however)-never been so that may be kinda fun. Tomorrow is our MUCH anticipated Girls Night Out (sans my girl Rob, unfortunately. Damn Jimmy Daher's friends always ruining our plans!). We literally planned this night out what, six or seven weeks ago? That's how long it took to find a weekend where we could all go out. Busy bitches. Anyway, I think we are checking out that new casino downtown, Lumiere Place....should be a good time. I'm ready for a fun night out with my girls!

P.S. DJT----you're my favorite! ;)

this could only happen to KD....part 752

Um yea. So I just got a paper cut on my lip from licking an envelope.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Floating bluebirds?

Has anyone seen the new Missouri license plates? See below. What is up with that random floating bluebird at the bottom? And couldn't we have added a bit more to the sides? I think it's pretty damn ugly if you ask me (not that you did). I'm pretty sure this wasn't the one I voted for. Remember when they had the voting contest? I don't remember the other choices, but I'm pretty sure they were better than this. Good work Missouri. Good work.

I guess it had to happen eventually. I'm talking about the Cubs winning streak at home coming to an end. Going in to last night they were 32-8 at home this season. I guess it was too much to ask that they just go ahead and win the rest of the home games for the rest of the season, huh? And oh how they teased us Cubs fans...down 7-1 in the seventh and I honestly believed they'd win. I mean, they're the Comeback Kids, they've done it all season, why not again? I nearly fell head over heels in love with Jim Edmonds (guy-liner and all) after his 3-run homer in the 7th made it 7-4. Winning was in their grasp....they added another run in the 8th to make it 7-5. At this point, I was literally on the edge of my seat. Then comes the 9th. They had BASES LOADED WITH NO OUTS. This game is in the bag, right? Wrong. The next three a-holes all got out and the Cubs lost the game. Boo. The crowd was shocked into silence. There would be no singing of "Go Cubs Go". Oh well, guess they'll have to start a new winning streak tonight. GO CUBS!

Work is very, VERY quiet today. It's scaring me a bit. Only six cases per person today-that is not too shabby. Although it does create a problem. You see, when left with too much free time, I tend to get in trouble. It's not my fault, blame my short attention span. I can't help it. I'm gonna have to find a way to keep myself occupied. Good luck with that. It hasn't started well considering Mike and I were singing "Umbrella" just a few minutes ago (complete with the "ella, ella, ella" part) and I was also singing my own version of "Mr. Jones" to my co-worker Ywinta, whose last name is Jones....ummmmmmm, yea.

This time the Cubs did the sweeping

Yep, swept that loud mouthed Ozzie Guillen right on outta the Northside. F him and that smart ass catcher of theirs. Can you tell I'm not a fan of the White Sox? They are some mouthy SOB's and the Cubs effectively put them in their place this weekend as they swept the three game series and are back to TWENTY games over .500. HOLLA! My man Aramis Ramirez was AMAZING, and Ryan Dempster improved to 9-2, also AMAZING. I just love the Cubbies so much (I know you're shocked). So Ozzie Guillen can make all the comments he wants about Wrigley Field having giant rats in the dugout, the Cubs will just quietly go about their business of winning nearly every day and totally dominating, well, everyone. Especially at home. 32-8, anyone?

Happy Birthday Aunt Jan!

Happy Birthday to my Aunt Jan today! Auntie, I love you much, hope you have a GREAT day! I had a lot of fun with you on Saturday!

Happy Birthday Mom!

I want to wish my mother a very happy, fantastic, WONDERFUL birthday today. Happy Birthday Mommy! Hope you had a great day of shopping and spending money (what more could a girl ask for??? I could hear dad whining on the other end of the phone when I called) :) I love you very much and miss you SOOOOO much!

I was up early again today-I had to be at work by 9am...I had to go pick up my precious Mikey Poo first though (carpooling people...gas is $4 a gallon!). Our new office isn't so bad I guess, the colors are still tacky (as I discovered today-the bathroom has a green floor and magenta stalls-pretty), but it'll work (we're only gonna be there a year then we are moving again).

After I got home, I pretty much lounged around....know what finally lulled me into a nap-like state? The Cardinals game. Yep, I think it went to 13 innings...I dozed through innings 9-13. It was a little slice of heaven, I tell ya! Now my Cubbies are on ESPN in 15 minutes, another little slice of heaven (that could be made better with a win-those Cardinals lost today!). I'm down for the count. Gonna finish some laundry and put groceries away. That's the extent of my excitement for the day. Right now, you are wishing you had my life, aren't you??????

Race For TheCure 2008

Man, it's a hot one! Isn't that what Rob Thomas once said? No? Ok...anywho.....So, today was Race For The Cure Day in St. Louis. It was pretty warm outside (even at 7:00am) but it was a beautiful day. As I type this, I am quite sleepy as I was up at 5:45am and at Aunt Cheryl's house by 6:30am. Aye, yai yai, not on a Saturday! This is our yearly tradition, however, and I wouldn't miss it for the world. We had little Kira joining us this year to add to the normal crew (minus Red and Jon-but they always ran it, leaving us slow pokes behind in their dust so we never really got to walk with them anyway). There were over 60,000 people in downtown St. Louis today. Amazing. Even more amazing? Of those 60,000 people, I somehow managed to run in to my friend Christi and her brother, sister and dad. What are the odds? It was great to see her. The giant crowd was a bit overwhelming at times (I don't always handle crowds well...all those people right next to me...I felt myself getting hot and light headed. Ick.). Anyway, below is our yearly picture of all of us at the race. Note the "Save the Ta Ta's" shirts. We saw them last year and, apparently, some of us just had to have them. They're hilarious.Left to right is: Aunt Cheryl, my cousin Kelli, Aunt Jan, my cousin Rachel, Aunt Mary, and me holding Miss Kira (my cousin Clint's little girl). Kira did great...other than some minor whining that she was tired, she was a trooper and walked the entire 5k! :)

Such a great event for everyone, but in particular women. I love doing this with the women (or girls) of my family. I'd love to have ALL of us do it together, that would be awesome!

After the race, we all went to Fitz's for some lunch....first ones there, we totally beat the crowd as the place filled up FAST.

After lunch I came home to watch my precious Cubbies kick some major ass against their cross-town rivals, the White Sox...after a NINE run 4th inning, my boys pretty much had it easy the rest of the way...yet another home win for them and that damn Jimmy Edmonds hit TWO homeruns....IN THE SAME INNING. Dammit if he isn't gonna win me over yet!

Right now I'm debating on whether or not I'm gonna go out tonight. I think I'm gonna go take a nap right now....I've been saying that all afternoon and have yet to go to sleep........Happy Saturday!

Swept? Um...EXCUSE me?

Uh, did I hear that correctly? My Cubbies got swept by the Rays? What? The Cubs haven't lost more than two games in a row ALL SEASON, and now they get swept by the Rays? WTF people? I'm totally not down with it, but what can ya do? It may not get any better as they are playing their cross town rivals, the White Sox this weekend. That should be some entertaining good times. GO CUBS!

It is a hot mess up in here at work today. Today is moving day and the place is total chaos. There are boxes everywhere, paper everywhere (because we have more than filled the shred bins) and lots of noise. And in between all of that we are expected to carry on business as usual. I'm having a hard time focusing. My chronic short attention span may have something to do with it....

I am working at the crisis line tonight (fun times will be had, I'm sure) and getting up at the butt crack of dawn tomorrow to do the Race for the Cure....other than that, my Saturday is pretty much wide open, although I may spend part of it sleeping. I then have to be back at work for my full time job on Sunday morning at 9am...so no church or visiting Grandpa for me, unfortunately. Oh well, I'm getting paid "premium pay" to come in and make sure everyone's phones and computers are up and running-I think I can handle that.

Sunday is also my mommy's birthday. I think she's 29 again this year. Is that correct, mother? :)

So, Happy Weekend everyone! I hope it's a good one. Behave.

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Gir, you are hyped up today!

This is what I was told this morning by a co-worker. It's true, I am. I can't help it. I don't even know why, to tell you the truth. I mean, my Cubs have lost two in a row, this week has been sucktastic, yea, I really don't have much of a reason to be hyper....and, yet, I am. Maybe because it's Friday Eve.

Does everyone have big exciting weekend plans? This weekend is Race for the Cure here in St. Louis so, as usual, I am doing the race with my aunts and cousins. It is always a good time. Of course, I'm not thrilled about our 6:30am meeting time, but that's ok. I'll get over it. I'm working at the crisis line tomorrow night (a WAY fun way to spend your Friday night) and am coming in to work on Sunday at my fulltime job (I'm getting paid to work for like an hour to make sure everyone's computers and phones are up and running since we are moving offices tomorrow). I know you are jealous of my weekend. Don't be. Jealousy is SO not becoming on you.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Hey kids!

I'm in a MUCH better mood today (I'm sure there was a collective sigh of relief amongst all those around me). I am a bit tired now though, probably because I'm bored. I've been at the crisis line for an hour now and there's not much going on, not that I'm complaining, mind you.

So, my co-workers and I took a tour of the new building we are moving to next week. We wanted to see where we were sitting and all that good stuff. Let me tell you, the decor of the place made me giggle. We're talking varying shades of brown and olive green....seriously 1973 called and wants its colors back. Yikes. And don't even get me started on the psychedelic kitchen. My new neighbors are fine, although I am not as close to my Mikey and Amy Henson as I would like to be. And the office feels smaller for some reason. That, and I get the distinct pleasure of getting to sit right next to three of our psychiatrists. Yay me.

I'm sure there are more things I could talk about, but I just got really, really tired and I'm done typing for now. Bye.

Floating feet near Vancouver.....

http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=179177&in_page_id=2

I emailed my Canadian source to get the scoop on this rather disturbing story. My friend Tanya (who likes to troll the news sites for the most exciting, late breaking news) advised me of this story today. Thank GOD the Mounties are on this one. Read for yourself. It begs one question-dude, WTF?

Cranky pants

Ugh, I am craaaaaaanky today! It's only gotten worse as the day has gone on. I am sitting at my part-time job right now and I swear, the sound of people talking around me is about to drive me insane. I want to scream "shut up" to everyone-I'm not gonna because that would be rude, but I wanna. Why so cranky? I dunno. I just am. It started with an irritating situation at Job #1 today and just kinda spiraled from there. I really want to go home. I shouldn't be allowed out in public right now. OMG, I swear if Sunglasses At Night girl doesn't shut up, I may have to punch her in the nose........

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.

Heroes

This is a picture of me and my favoritest teacher of all time-my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs Sullivan. I was so happy to see her over the weekend, she looks amazing especially given that in the last couple of years she has battled not only breast cancer but also kidney cancer. She is an incredibly strong woman and if anyone can beat cancer, it's her! She's always stood out in my mind because she was the first teacher that really made me believe that I was smart and could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Yes, she was also the one who used to write on my report cards "Kerri is a very bright child but tends to socialize a bit too much". What can I say? She had me pegged. :)

Further signs that the end of the world is coming...

Did everyone have a good weekend? Mine was fun, thanks for asking! I spent it in Salem with my family, always a good time to me!

Friday night, my parents and I participated in Dent County's Relay for Life. I had never participated in one of those before (it's for cancer research, survivors, etc.) and let me tell ya, it was a pretty moving experience and one I will do again next year. My friend from grade school, Carilee, was one of the organizers (and her mom, who I've known since I was five, is currently battling cancer), I got to talk to Carilee and her mom for a while, it was so great to see and talk to folks I haven't had contact with in years. I also got to see my favoritest teacher of all time-Mrs. Sullivan, who has now beaten cancer TWICE. She is an amazing woman, my mom got a picture of the two of us together, as soon as she forwards it to me, I plan on posting it. The relay really was amazing-they start with all the cancer survivors walking around the track which if you had any heart at all, would have moved you (I cried like a baby). Then each team had to have a team member walking on the track at all times-my parents and I took our hour time slot at 9pm...my dad, ever the competitive one, decided he wanted to do more laps than the lady that went before us, so...he lapped mom and I a couple of times (and we were power walking-no strolling here!). Dad made it 30 laps which was about 2.5 miles (I had my pedometer with me). The bank my mom works for sponsored a tent-each tent was also selling something to raise more money. My mom's tent was selling....deep fried twinkies. People, I'm telling you, they tasted like funnel cake. Our tent was very popular and I jumped right in to help, I didn't think anyone would want me in charge of actually making the twinkies, but I did work the front line and helped sell. It was way fun.

Saturday morning came all too soon with my father waking me up at 6:15am, saying "this is how we do it on the farm, girlie". Never mind that my parents don't even live on a farm, but whatever. So, we went into town for some breakfast-mom and dad's Saturday morning tradition-at the Main Street Cafe (located on, you guessed it, Main Street). After that, we hit the farmers market, dropped my car off for an oil change, went to Wal-Mart, picked up my car and headed back to the house...and did all of this by 9am. I was ready for a nap at that point, and tried to go back to bed but couldn't sleep. That afternoon, we headed out to the home of one of my parents neighbors (and by "neighbor" I mean someone that lives out on the county gravel roads with them..within a five mile radius), this lady has an absolutely beautiful house out in the middle of nowhere with a 17 acre lake. It was actually really fun meeting all my parents "neighbors" and one of them is actually working on her LPC (the same counseling license I have), so talking to her was quite fun and interesting.

Saturday evening we went over to my brothers new house that he is renting and, yes, he got my parents and I to play Rock Band with him. You have never seen anything funnier in your life until you've seen my mom rockin' out playing the guitar....I somehow got singing duties and Tim was on drums...we did some "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer and Tim and I did "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi. It pretty much kicked ass. :)

Yesterday was church, spending time with my daddy for Father's Day, then me leaving immediately after church since I had to work at the crisis line. The crisis line was fairly uneventful, thank God because I really wasn't down with it being busy.

Now it's Monday. How does that always happen?

So, what is the sign that the end of the world is coming? Party people, the Chicago Cubs are TWENTY games over .500. Surely a sign. I HEART THEM!

Beware of flying Easter baskets!

I was a busy little bee last evening. Of course, I had all week off from the crisis line and had all week to run my errands but chose to run them all on Thursday night. That's just how I roll, people. So, I had to get my mom's birthday present as well as my dad's Father's Day present. I knew what I wanted to get them both, so it didn't take me too long. Then I headed home to wrap the presents (and by "wrap" I mean throwing them in a bag and fancying it up with some tissue paper), cook dinner (grilled chicken and asparagus-yum!) and then on to my task for the night-cooking two pounds of bacon for work. Two pounds of bacon is a LOT of bacon people! Now don't get me wrong, I love bacon as much as the next girl, but after cooking two pounds of it, I was not so much a fan (especially because now everything I own, including myself, smells like bacon grease). I had to take a shower afterward because I felt greasy and yucky. Then I had to call my mom because, being the Kitchen Retard that I am, I wasn't sure what to do with the bacon now that it was cooked. How was I supposed to store it? My mom (humoring me, I'm sure) informed me I needed to refrigerate it. Oh yeah.....Ok, so then it was time to pack for the weekend, a task I am not always a fan of. I first had to get my suitcase, which was up on the top shelf of my closet (no small feat given I am Shorty Shorterson). As I was reaching for the suitcase, something quite traumatic happened (and yes I am being dramatic because, really, it wasn't so much traumatic as it was funny). Yes, people, an empty Easter basket fell on my head. Now, I know you're probably thinking to yourself "this could only happen to KD" and, well, you'd be right. I mean, it's not like it hurt, it was, in fact, pretty damn funny. I of course had to tell DT all about it (who I'm pretty sure is not shocked by the retarded things that happen to me). Ah....good times.

So, today is YET ANOTHER food day at work. And it's my favorite-BREAKFAST. Yummy! We are celebrating my co-worker JuJuane's birthday. We have a fantastic quiche that my co-worker Melissa made (it's to die for, really) and, of course, the aforementioned bacon. That, combined with mass quantities of Diet Dr Pepper, makes for a long, if not interesting, day. I'm hyper. Deal with it.

I'm heading to Salem tonight, doing Relay for Life with my parents, I'm hoping to see some old high school friends while I'm there, we've been messaging on Facebook (which really is a great way to keep in touch with long lost friends!) all week. Fun fun. I have a feeling I'll be awakened by my father tomorrow morning at around, oh, 6:30am, so that we can go into town and eat breakfast (the last time I was home, my father woke me up by turning on the bedroom light at 6:30am and CROWING LIKE A ROOSTER. Now do you understand why I am the way I am???).

My Cubbies are NINETEEN games over .500 y'all! In all my years as a Cubs fan, I don't think I've ever seen them with this good of a record. Granted, it's still early, and I'm not gonna get ahead of myself and make any predictions, but right now sure is a great time to be a Cubs fan! Holla! (that "holla" was for you Mikey!).

Happy Weekend party people!

Curses!

Oh no. No, no, no, no, no. The Cubs fan-damn-tastic left fielder, Alfonso Soriano, was hit in the hand last night by some bastard on the Braves. He's now out for six weeks with a broken hand. Never good news when your best player is out (I'm feeling Cards fans pain with the loss of Albert Pujols). The good news is that the Cubbies should be ok. They're a good team, no doubt. I'm hoping that they will continue to play as is. I'll try not to think about curses, billy goats, etc. :)

I'm sleepy today. I think I need to go to bed around 9pm tonight and I should be ok. I have some errands to run tonight and I also have a task....I have to actually go IN my kitchen and prepare something for work tomorrow. Yes, we are having ANOTHER food day. Does it ever end? We decided to bring breakfast food, so KD is in charge of....the bacon. Yum. Two pounds of bacon. Surely I can handle that one. Oh Lord-I'm gonna burn myself aren't I? Or get grease to pop up in my eyeball. I see it happening......

My toe hasn't fallen off yet, but it still hurts.

I'm heading to Salem tomorrow, good times, good times. We're doing Relay for Life which should be a good time. Gonna celebrate Father's Day and my mom's birthday this weekend as well. Ah, I love, love, love family good times. :) I just said "good times" a lot in one paragraph, didn't I?

Handsome little man!

OMG, I already love little Brayden, my cousin Ben's new baby boy. We will all get to meet him 4th of July weekend-I can't wait! Although we all know that newborns make me nervous, I'm willing to get over that fear. :) Here are some new pictures (stolen from the family blog, DUH!) of Brayden and his mommy and daddy. How cute are these pics?

Yet another chapter from the "This Could Only Happen to KD" book..

So, the other day I was clipping my toenails. Gross to talk about, I know, since feet are icky, but when have you known me to hold back???? Anyway, I cut one nail a bit too short, no biggie I thought, it'll grow back. Well, apparently, it decided to get infected (again, gross, I know) and now it hurts like a son of a bitch (pardon my French). I think jogging on it two days in a row (with my poor toes jammed into socks and running shoes) didn't help much and may have in fact, exascerbated the situation. I have some medication on it today (complete with a Band-Aid, because Band-Aid's rock!) so I'm hoping it'll settle down. With my luck, my little toe will fall off. Stay tuned.

OMG, I am laughing so hard right now. Amy, Mike and I are singing "Goodbye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks. It started out by me calling Mike by his full name which is Michael Earl (sexy, isn't it?) and quickly escalated....

I wanted to share some pics I just got. My friend Christina finally got around to uploading some of her pictures from our IKEA trip as well as our celebration of Book Club's 5th Anniversary. So, here ya go.....
This is me in our mini van on the way to Chicago, acting as the Navigator (a scary concept, I know). Check out the Cubs hat, y'all! :)
Snack time! Random shot of us eating like little piggies!
Inside of Meijers (a store like Wal-Mart)
Why on Earth did Christina take this picture? And why do I not even remember it???Here we are celebrating our 5th year as a book club (or social club, whatever). There are a couple of members missing, but clockwise from the top left are Renee, Christina, me, Maggie, Krista and Shannon. Look at our cake complete with a "5" candle. Yes we are HUGE dorks, but I love it!

Happy Birthday Kira!

Happy 6th birthday today to my cousin's little girl, Kira. WOW! I can't believe she's already six! Where does the time go????? Kira, I hope you have a wonderful birthday with your daddy, your soon-to-be stepmommy, your grandma Mary AND great-grandpa Bob. Can't wait to see you 4th of July weekend. That kid plays a mean game of Uno....can't wait to try to dethrone her.... :)

Not much else going on around here. I got to talk to my Canadian TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Totally made my week. ;) Not working at the crisis line until Sunday-a nice little break, considering I worked there four days last week. I'm heading to Salem on Friday to hang with the fam, see my daddy for Father's Day and celebrate my mom's birthday (it's not until the next weekend, but I won't be able to see her). Hopefully I'll get to see my creepy little brother at some point during the weekend as well. :)

Happy Birthday Heidi!

Today is my dear, dear friend Heidi's birthday. Heidi-I miss you soooooooooooo much! I hope you have a great birthday way down there in Florida. Give little Gavin a big hug for me!

Ok, so, Tanya, Allison and I saw Sex And The City last night. In a word? FANTASTIC. It's been a long time since I've LOVED a movie, but I'm telling ya, I LOVED this movie! Yes, it's a total chick flick, since I'm a chick, I guess that works. Allow me to be cheesy for a minute (like you can stop me). I believe the theme of the movie was friendship, and it got me thinking. No matter what happens in life-jobs, money, boys, family-whatever, you still have to have your core group of girlfriends. And I am lucky enough to have some GREAT girlfriends (Mike, you get to count!) that I know will be there for me no matter what happens in life. That is a pretty fantastic thing. I wish that for everyone. Ok, done with the cheese now.

I'm off to Grandpa's to take care of the effin' birds. How did I get roped into this one???? Oh yea, it's because I can't tell Grandpa no. :)

Congratulations, Clint and Amy!

My baby cousin, Clint, asked his girlfriend Amy to marry him yesterday and I couldn't be happier for them! I love Amy-she's such a sweet girl, and together, they are amazing. Clint-this is one of the smartest decisions you've ever made. Let me know if y'all need that picture of Clint, me and my sister in the bathtub together when we were little kids for the wedding slide show! :) HA!

So, trivia night last night was fun. I think we finished around 12th out of 45 teams-not too bad, considering! Aunt Paula and I made inappropriate comments about Roots all night (I SWEAR one of the right answers was gonna be Kunta Kinte!) and we all just generally proved that 66 out of 100 is STILL PASSING! :)

Tonight I am going to watch Sex and the City with a couple of my girlfriends. Can't wait for that. In the meantime, I've done a whole lot of nothing today. Well, I'm watching my Cubbies on Fox, but other than that? Doing nothing. Maybe I should take a shower.......

Birds in the office?

Mike is convinced he had a bird in his cubicle. Actually, I think it was a bug of some kind, but in his overly melodramatic way, Mike has convinced himself that it was indeed a bird, more specifically a hummingbird. He makes me look normal. :)

We've also been singing a bit of a montage of New Kids On The Block songs. I know Amy LOVED my version of "The Right Stuff" and Mike's rendition of "Please Don't Go Girl" was nothing short of spectacular. No, really.

It's the weekend! Yay! I talked to Aunt Paula today-we are super pumped for Trivia Night tonight! Mike and I will be joining Uncle Ron, Rachel, Aunt Paula and Uncle Jay for team Mortal Enemies (Aunt LaLa's idea, it involves the fact that I heart the Cubs and she hearts the Cardinals....). I'm convinced we will finish in last place, what with Mike and I on the team and all (although the fact that we are going to happy hour beforehand may actually help our performance...). It should be fun no matter what. Tomorrow I am seeing the Sex And The City movie with Tanya, Allison and my Amy Henson-that should be fun times! :)

I'd like to put in a request that the rain stop. Thanks.

GO CUBS.

Congrats Wings, I heart the Cubbies....and other random stuff

Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings-they won the Stanley Cup last night. Normally I would not congratulate them but my Canadian loves them, so CONGRATS! :) It was actually a good game, I was up getting ready for the Cubs 9pm start time, so I passed the time by watching the hockey game. Speaking of the Cubs, their nine game winning streak came to an end last night. It's ok though, I mean, they can't win every day. They are still the best team in baseball, and 16 games over .500. I heart them (I know y'all already know that).

So, we are moving buildings at work in a couple of weeks and one of my co-workers sent me this harassing email this morning teasing me about the fact that according to the new seating chart, I will be sitting next to two of our staff psychiatrists. One walks around like he's the office pimp the other is a bit of a wackadoo (when he's not cranky, that is). Oh, that should be fun. Gonna have to sharpen my ass kissing skills......not like that's a challenge for me, or anything. :) Either that, or start with the self-soothing techniques: rocking and sucking my thumb (those in "the field") know what I'm talking about.

It's almost the weekend! Yay! Tonight is my fourth shift at the crisis line this week. Yep, I'm a bit tired but I focus on the positive-MONEY. Tomorrow night, Mikey and I are going to a trivia night for my Uncle Ron's nephews family (did ya get that?)-that should be fun. Trivia Night is ALWAYS fun. Especially when you have two retards like Mikey and I on your team.....I think the last one we participated in, our team ended up dead last. But we got nice and drunk, so we had a lot of fun in the process.

Saturday night is GIRLS NIGHT OUT! We're going to see Sex And The City (yes, a week after it came out...we're totally uncool like that) and then going out to have the obligatory cosmos afterwards. Should be fun.

Good times-so I get this frantic phone call from my grandpa last night. His voicemail was very serious-"Kerri, I need you to call me" he said in a very stern voice. Whatever could Grandpa need, I asked myself? So, I called him back as soon as I got off work. What did he want? He was all worked up about getting this heating pad back that my mom borrowed from him-never mind that he is about to go out of town for a week to see my cousin Clint in North Carolina. Fun story about this heating pad (well, it's funny if you know my Grandpa). You see, it's not just any heating pad, oh no, this one has magical, INFRARED powers my friends! Why it single-handedly CURED my Grandpa's arthritis (according to him). So, he let my mom borrow it to help with her shoulder pain. I don't know if it CURED her, but whatever. My Grandpa is the greatest guy ever!

New Weezer CD hit stores today!!!

It is the greatest day EVER (ok maybe not EVER, but close.....). The new Weezer CD (titled "The Red Album"), hit stores today. I am so excited I could hurl (not really). I got to hear most of the new songs last weekend when Weezer took over one of the satellite radio stations and played a lot of their new stuff-sounded pretty good to me! I will be going to the store after work to purchase my copy. Love myself some Weezer!

Random tangential mess

Man I totally have not been in a blogging mood the last few weeks. Not sure why. Blame it on my hectic schedule, brain fog, the tides, the full moon, something. It won't get any better as I am working the ol' part-time job the next three nights in a row, but whatever. Let's recap what's been going on the last few days......

1. Got to see some of my college friends this past weekend. The fun continued on Saturday as CB and Todd stayed with me. We went out to dinner and then out for drinks at the Tin Can. Todd and I proceeded to get a bit intoxicated (CB was driving), we then came back to my place and looked at pictures from our college days and reminesced about the good ol' days. Good times.

2. Sunday, I worked at my part-time job on about three hours of sleep. That was fun.

3. Last night, I watched my new addiction, The Bachelorette. I was so sad-she gave the cute little Canadian guy the boot. I don't know if you know this about me or not, but I am kinda partial to cute Canadian guys, so I was sad to see him go. Uh, what is up with that Jeremy guy? I think he is CREEEEEEEEEPY. Anyone else agree? And I'm sorry, but I kinda like the single dad...he seems sweet. And at least the mullet guy got his hair cut.

4. I went to bed at 9pm and got up at 7:30 this morning. It was pretty sweet. No wonder I'm a bit on the hyper side today.

5. Have I mentioned that Mike and I are going to see New Kids on the Block in November? Yep....got out tickets on Saturday. I soooooo can't wait! Haven't seen them perform since I was, oh, 13 or so. Life has officially come full circle......

6. I don't wanna jinx it, but I must mention one last thing......THE CHICAGO CUBS ARE THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL Y'ALL! Sixteen games over .500. Words can't even describe how much I love them............. :)
