Uhm, really? It's the first week of November. Are you sure Christmas music 24/7 is necessary at this point in time? Thanks to KEZK, I now have "Please Come Home for Christmas" by Don Henley in my head. Awesome. And while I'm on the subject, don't you think "Frosty the Snowman" is a bit too traumatic for children? I mean, he MELTS for God's sake. Remember on the cartoon when he keeps saying "Happy Birthday"? I know know why, but that keeps running through my head (along with Don Henley).

TGIF and all, but seriously, I do believe EVERYONE in the state of Tennessee with United Healthcare insurance was hospitalized either on a psych unit or detox unit last night because my caseload is OUT OF CONTROL today. Yikes. So, while I'm glad it's Friday, I must first get through this crazy busy day at Job #1 and then work 4.5 hours at Job #2. My life is awesome.

Merry Christmas. The mo fo New York Yankees won the World Series last night. For the 27th effing time. Ya-freakin-hoo. I hate them all except for Joe Girardi (and is it just me, or is he starting to look like Skeletor?). I particularly hate Kate Hudson. Now, I realize she is not technically on the Yankees, but she's dating A-Rod (have you heard???) and for every effing game, they showed her in the crowd at least 27 times. QUITE annoying. Hey, remember when the Cubs passed over Joe Girardi to hire Lou Piniella instead? Guess who just won the World Series??? Just sayin. So, here we sit, baseball is officially over for 2009. We must sit through the "other" sports until our boys of summer come back next spring. I can't even watch Blues hockey because every effing game is blacked out (GFY Dish Network). But I'm not bitter. Speaking of hockey, going to the game next Saturday....14 rows off the ice. Nice. Now, before you say, how can she afford that, let me tell you how-StubHub. GREAT deals on tickets, just sayin.

Now on to random things, last night as I was driving home from work, I saw a bumper sticker that said "I'm only speeding because I really have to poop". Nice, huh? Even better? It was on a mini-van. Wow.

I think I have my first real workout injury. I was running on the treadmill last night and I periodically kept having a cramp-like pain shooting up my left leg. I tried to ignore it (no pain, no gain, right?) but the more I ran the more it hurt. I hopped off the treadmill and tried to stretch it out but it was still a'hurtin. It's ok to walk on this morning, but I'm thinking I should probably take a day off from running. I love old age.

So, I did end up getting my hair chopped off. Six inches, gone. Love it. It's now shoulder length-ish. I have had SO many compliments on it and one of the docs at work told me it made me look younger (a girl ALWAYS likes that compliment). He is also kinda a creepy pervy perverson, so I'm not sure how I feel about his compliments (we call him Dr. Pimp behind his back. For good reason.).

I am soooooooooooo ready for Thanksgiving. Not only is it my favorite holiday because it's the only one we spend in Salem, but I also have the Friday before and the entire week of Thanksgiving off. Yesssssssssss! On top of that, I'll get to see my precious baby girl! I haven't seen her since the end of September and she has changed so much since then! I also can't wait to see my sis and brother-in-law.

After having listened to the new Weezer CD several times now, I can tell you I like it more and more each time. I can do without the weird slow song with the sitar and the lady singing in the background, but other than that, the songs are pretty good. Now, if they would just go on tour again, complete with a stop in the STL............

KD's review of the new Weezer CD "Raditude"

The album cover alone should entice you to listen to this CD....

Everyone who knows anything about me knows I'm a HUGE Weezer fan. I have been ever since "Buddy Holly" and the Blue Album came out in 1994 (that's 15 years for anyone who's counting). I've even seen them perform in another country, for God's sake (I've seen them live five times total). I have very fond memories of the first two albums (for any Weezer purist, you will agree that Pinkerton is their greatest CD. Maybe one of the greatest CD's EVER by ANYONE, but I digress....), they came out during my college years, and most of my friends dug them too. Those two albums were in constant play. They took a bit of a hiatus after 1996 so that lead singer Rivers Cuomo could finish his degree at Harvard, but came back 2001-ish and have been around ever since.

Raditude is Album #7 and in all fairness, really can't be compared to the previous six. And I'll tell you why. Raditude is a POP album. I'm not saying that's bad, just different. Truth is, after a couple times listening to it all the way through I must say, for the most part, I totally dig it. Sure, there are a couple of songs I could do without, but most of them are fun, catchy and will most certainly get stuck in your head (much like Ricky Martin's "Shake Your Bon Bon"...right Rob???). The first single "If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To)" is, in a word, FANTASTIC. And if you haven't seen the video, I demand you go to YouTube right this minute and watch it-it is HILARIOUS (in true Weezer fashion).

Many die-hard Weezer fans will probably hate this album. I am not one of them. What you need to remember is, if you know anything about this band, you will know that many of their songs are silly and sarcastic. They don't take themselves too seriously, and you shouldn't either. I mean, on Raditude, they collaborate with Jermaine Dupre and Lil Wayne for God's sake, and that, my friends, is good times right there.

I feel like I am best friends with them because I met them at Sea-Tac airport in Seattle last year-true story. Ok, well, I met half of them-Pat, the drummer and Scott, the bassist. Couldn't have been nicer guys, and were also quite funny. I didn't get a pic to document this momentous occasion of me meeting half of my favoritest band ever (I didn't want to be THAT fan, ya know?), but I will never forget it as long as I live. And, as long as I live, I will most likely love every CD they make, no matter how cheezy.

Confessions of an idiot

I need help.

I recently developed an obsession with red grapefruit (????). There's only one problem----I don't know how to eat it. I know, I know, those that know me well are currently shaking their heads and wondering when my room at the group home will be ready, but I really don't know how to eat it.

I bought some fresh red grapefruit at the grocery store last night and brought one in to work today to eat. I cut it in half as I've seen other people do and brought it back to my desk. Now, let me provide you with a visual-my desk currently looks like I'm about to do surgery. I have a bowl, a plastic fork, a real fork and a real spoon, several paper towels and, of course, the grapefruit. Here is what has happened so far-I have grapefruit juice all over me and all over my desk. Digging the grapefruit out with a fork doesn't seem to be working, nor does the spoon option help.

So, I ask you, how in the HELL does one eat fresh grapefruit????? Do I need to peel the outside off? Do I need someone to do it for me? I can't stop eating the caramel apple candy corn. I'm pretty sure it has crack cocaine in it. I have a bag of it sitting on my desk right in front of me, taunting me, daring me to eat the rest of it. Looks like it though, doesn't it? It was freaking me out.

My parents church hosted Trunk or Treat on Halloween night. The premise is that you decorate the "trunk" of your cars and give out candy. Supposed to be a safer alternative than letting your little ghosts and goblins walk the streets. Especially the mean streets of Salem, Mo. It was actually a lot of fun-approximately 2,300 people were there. That's a lot of frickin candy to hand out, but it was really fun-the kids were so cute. My brother and I, and his friend Travis helped my mom out. Tim and Travis entertained us all night-who knew they were so funny?

The one thing I will point out (God don't hate me for being judgemental) is that, I swear to you, I have never seen more people with missing teeth in my life, and no, it was not part of any costume. I mean, I realize Dent County isn't the richest of areas, but come on!

Missing teeth and all, it was still a fun night....I'll probably do it again next year. The kids were just too cute-even the little monster that sassed me. He was probably 7 or 8 and was wearing an Incredible Hulk costume. Me, thinking I was being funny (my first mistake) asked him if the muscles built into the costume were real. This kid looked at me like I was the biggest retard and said "it's just a costume, it's not real". I half expected him to say "DUH", but he didn't. The rest of the kids were polite, but I tell ya, if I ever see that little hellion again...........

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

I could still go as a pirate tonight considering my eye is still jacked up. Don't be jealous. At least it's not pinkeye. I'm not contagious, so don't worry folks. And I think we caught it in time, no need to dress as a pirate for Halloween.

Now, here's what I don't get. I walk in, eye obviously swollen and the nurse has me read the friggin eye chart. Are you kidding me? I can barely see on a good day much less when I have 50% vision. So, I rambled off the letters I thought I saw. Pretty sure she wrote "clinically blind" in my chart. Then my doctor comes in, makes me lay down (uhm, excuse me?), tells me to look at the wall and then proceeds to squirt something in my eye that burned like hell. He told me it was a pain killer but I'm not convinced. I then got something yellow squirted in my eye, followed by some saline and then he held a black light over my eye (not sure what that was for, but whatever). Anyway, now I have a script for some eyedrops that I have to take 4x a day-I actually looked at my doctor and said "because I love having stuff squirted in my eye". His response? "Yea, I did kinda have to fight you on that". What can I say? I'm feisty. Especially when there are strange liquids being squirted into my eye.

The news is not all bad, however. According to my patient chart, I have lost TWELVE pounds since the last time I was at my doctor's office. Yay me!

Interesting week

So, I haven't been to work since Tuesday. Mind you, I am the girl that NEVER calls in sick (even when I should), so when I started feeling crappy on Tuesday, I knew something icky was about to go down. Let's just say, the last time I ate anything other than crackers was Tuesday. Great way to lose those few extra pounds ladies! Kidding. Kinda.

I spent the vast majority of yesterday sleeping. Given that we haven't seen the sun in like, oh, a month, it was the perfect day to do so. Late yesterday afternoon a new symptom emerged-pain in my left eye, followed by constant watering. By last night, I could barely open it and I woke up in the middle of the night with it draining something....it was pretty gross. So, I'm again not at work today, I can't open my eye all the way without much pain, and I will be heading to my doctor in about an hour. The worst part about this eye thing is that I have to go out in public....with no makeup on. BWAAAAHAAHAAA! Halloween indeed.

Public Apology

I, Kerri M. We go there a lot, and I have always known it is typically the bar that the players go to after the game, so we thought perhaps we'd see a Blue or two. Plus, it's where KMOX broadcasts their after game show. And we did see some players, but more on that later.

I must first describe Blues fans to you. There are two kinds: 1. Normal and 2. the hoosier Blues fan. Sadly for Tanya and I (who I think are in the "normal" group), we were surrounded by hoosier Blues fans at the bar. There was the dude wearing the Blues hard hat, dude in his old school jersey listening to the radio broadcast even though they were broadcasting LIVE IN THE BAR, and the dude whose mustache was so long he kept getting hot wing sauce in it. Needless to say, we were alternately horrified and entertained.

We knew some of the players had arrived because they were the only people in that dirty, smoky bar that were wearing suits. Ties and everything. Niiiiiice. So, in walked both goalies, Chris Mason and Ty Conklin, and right behind them was BJ Crombeen who was being interviewed on the radio show. Ty Conklin was standing about 5 feet away from me and I really, really, really resisted the urge to say "Hey Ty, great game!" (the reason that would have been funny-and rude-is because he was the goalie last night and he gave up 4 goals...and the Blues lost). Here's what I must report about all three of them-I've never thought this before, but once I saw them in person I have to say, they are all HOT. Mason with his shaved head, Conklin even had a beard (and all his teeth in) and still looked hot and Crombeen looks like a frat boy. Tanya and I have now committed to going to OB Clark's every Saturday there's a home game. Shut up.). Sure, we've had fun, although it's been me providing most of the entertainment (shocking, I know. I have a big, and loud, personality. I can't help it), but you know, always good to see an old friend, right?

Well, here's the problem: I'm never one to just assume a guy digs me, BUT, I'm pretty sure this guy either thinks we're dating or that it's a possibility we may date in the future. My woman's intuition tells me this. The problem, I can't even envision myself dating him. Ever. No romantic vibe on this end. I'm not even sure we'll be "friends" in the sense that we'll hang out a lot (I mean, given some things that have happened this year, I'm really wary about who I allow to be my friends now. Self protection).

So, my question is, how should I handle this? I mean it's not like I can say "dude, you know we're not dating, right?" I mean, what if I'm completely wrong (which I don't think I am)? I hesitate to even hang out with him again for fear he'll get the wrong impression. I mean, I know I'm adorable, but GEEZ! (I was TOTALLY kidding about that last sentence, by the way). He's already starting to bug me with the phone calls (that I ignore. Oops.), the emails, and yes, even planning on being in Salem the same weekends I am. That last part is really the one that freaked me out. Dude, I do NOT want to hang out with you while I'm in Salem. I go to Salem to not see anyone other than my parents and brother. I stay in their house in the woods and that's about it. No socializing.

Ugh, THIS is why I need to stay single. Forever.

For all the female baseball fans (and, I suppose men too if you're into that sort of thing)

I'm taking a poll, ladies. Who was your very first baseball crush? Or sports crush in general. Seeing Ron Darling in the broadcast booth got me thinking about this (he was pretty cute back in the day. Now he's just bloated and weird looking).

don't tell me that 'stache ain't hot!

Instantly, my thoughts went to my first baseball crush...........Keith Hernandez, who, at the time, was the 1st baseman for the Cardinals (who knew he'd end up being a coke head and starring in a Seinfeld episode???). My sister was in love with his 2nd base counterpart, Tommy Herr (ahhh, the golden curls!). Granted, this was the early '80's, but still. It's pretty funny that I crushed on a dude with a 'stache considering my feelings about them now as a semi-adult.

check out the golden curls on Tommy Herr!

In the late '80's, I moved on to the Cubbies and grew to love one Mark Grace as well as Ryne Sandberg (both of which still look pretty good-no bloating and weirdness here! Just old.). That's why they are my dream team to be the Cubs manager and bench coach. Then, I can still ogle them, even if they're middle-aged now. Ahhh....dare to dream.

Ryno and Gracie....STILL love them!

In other sports, I discovered hockey right about the time I discovered the Cubs (so THAT'S where we went wrong...). And I was in love, love, LOVE with Blues center Peter Zezel. IN LOVE, I tell you. My sister and I wanted to marry him. I mean, that mullet was HOT! That's why I was so saddened to hear of his death earlier this year. My first hockey crush, gone WAY too young. And man did they look unstoppable last night. The Dodgers looked like a little league team as the Phils crushed them 10-4. Sorry 'bout that Manny-now pack your bags and head down to the Dominican. I hear it's nice there this time of year. Chase Utley was lookin' hot, as was Cole Hamels. I was trying to decide if Jayson Werth was and got my answer when I heard him talk-the answer is a resounding NO, but damn can he play some baseball! I'm pretty excited about the World Series, especially if they end up playing the Yankees. I didn't even have to think long and hard about this one-the decision came to me pretty quickly. Maybe it started yesterday when we have co-workers that shall remain nameless that call in sick when you know damn good and well they're not (funny how they were fine the day before, huh?), leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack. I'm cranky because I don't have the balls to call in sick when I'm not. The guilt takes over. Being an honest person sucks sometimes. On top of my crab ass-ness, I'm gonna admit something publicly and that is: I have eaten nearly an entire box of Cheez-it's today. This morning, as I sat in the turn lane at Forest Park Parkway and Skinker (yes, the street really is called "Skinker". Leave it to the STL.), I noticed several people holding signs as if they were picketing something. As I read the signs, I realized what their cause was-health care reform. Yippee. That's fine and all, but the part that really irritated me was that several of the signs said "honk for health care reform", and wouldn't you know it.....SEVERAL cars were honking. I felt like I was in the middle of a traffic jam in downtown Manhattan or something. On a morning when I have not been properly caffeinated, that honking could send one over the edge. Just sayin.

Update on the inflatable lawn ornaments

As I went jogging through my neighborhood last night, I found myself being totally pissed off because I didn't have some sort of sharp object with me. I mean, I was actually jumping up and down last night while watching them kick the Dodgers ass (final score 11-0. HOLLA!). Now don't worry, the Cubbies are still my team and always will be, but the Phils are quickly becoming my second team. I'm pretty sure it's more than my lust for Chase Utley, but maybe not. I totally dig Ryan Howard (I mean, he IS from the STL after all), and Cliff Lee and Charlie Manuel makes me laugh so hard every time he talks. Have you heard him? He sounds like all the hoosiers from my hometown in southern Missouri. Just sayin.

Here's the deal, should the Phillies make it to the WS (which I'm hoping they will), they will most likely be facing the Yankees and let's face it, NO ONE wants to see the Yankees win...do they? So, come on, jump aboard the Phillies bandwagon with me. It's a fun time, I promise! And if a fun time with me doesn't convince you, let me remind you of one thing-Chase Utley is friggin hot. ALL ABOARD!

Just do it

I haven't done it in awhile, so I think it's time. I mean, everyone else is doing it so why shouldn't I? It very well could be earth shattering and life changing at the same time. I've been thinking about doing it for quite some time now and have finally decided to take the plunge. I mean, I can do whatever I want with/to my body, right? This is America dammit! Land of the free and home of the brave. Since I haven't done it in awhile, I'm afraid I won't know what to do, but surely it's like riding a bike, right? Right?

So, what is it I'm gonna do, you may ask? Well, after fighting the urge for sometime and realizing the urge won't go away, I have decided to chop my hair off. I know, I know, kinda out of control, but that's me. Living on the edge, doing crazy, spontaneous things. Wait, why are you laughing????

I've decided long hair isn't for me anymore, it's too high maintenance and really, I never do anything w/it anyway, may as well have a style that's easy and caters to my lazy personality. Now, don't worry, I'm not going all GI Jane or anything (besides, anything too short makes my head look like it's too small for my body-true story), but I will be getting at least six inches chopped off. I'm pretty excited about it. I got the urge a couple of weeks ago but decided to sit on it-didn't want to make any hasty decisions. Well, here it is, two weeks later and I still have the urge, so I think it's a go. Yay! Change is fun!
