HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

I could still go as a pirate tonight considering my eye is still jacked up. But instead, I am gonna go help my mom with Trunk or Treat at her church....and freeze my arse off in the process. All in the name of children's fun and safety. I better get some candy out of the deal........

I have no shame....but probably should

So this is what my mug shot would look like! I've always wondered....Actually, this is my eye when it was looking GOOD. Sad but true.

This is post doctor's visit. Actually looks kinda worse. Maybe it's because of all that shit the doc put in my eye.....
Good God I look frightening with no makeup on. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Update from your local pirate girl

Back from my doctor with a brand new diagnosis-I have a WAY sexy eye infection. Don't be jealous. At least it's not pinkeye. I'm not contagious, so don't worry folks. And I think we caught it in time, no need to dress as a pirate for Halloween.

Now, here's what I don't get. I walk in, eye obviously swollen and the nurse has me read the friggin eye chart. Are you kidding me? I can barely see on a good day much less when I have 50% vision. So, I rambled off the letters I thought I saw. Pretty sure she wrote "clinically blind" in my chart. Then my doctor comes in, makes me lay down (uhm, excuse me?), tells me to look at the wall and then proceeds to squirt something in my eye that burned like hell. He told me it was a pain killer but I'm not convinced. I then got something yellow squirted in my eye, followed by some saline and then he held a black light over my eye (not sure what that was for, but whatever). Anyway, now I have a script for some eyedrops that I have to take 4x a day-I actually looked at my doctor and said "because I love having stuff squirted in my eye". His response? "Yea, I did kinda have to fight you on that". What can I say? I'm feisty. Especially when there are strange liquids being squirted into my eye.

The news is not all bad, however. According to my patient chart, I have lost TWELVE pounds since the last time I was at my doctor's office. Yay me!

Interesting week

So, I haven't been to work since Tuesday. Mind you, I am the girl that NEVER calls in sick (even when I should), so when I started feeling crappy on Tuesday, I knew something icky was about to go down. Let's just say, the last time I ate anything other than crackers was Tuesday. Great way to lose those few extra pounds ladies! Kidding. Kinda.

I spent the vast majority of yesterday sleeping. Given that we haven't seen the sun in like, oh, a month, it was the perfect day to do so. Late yesterday afternoon a new symptom emerged-pain in my left eye, followed by constant watering. By last night, I could barely open it and I woke up in the middle of the night with it draining something....it was pretty gross. So, I'm again not at work today, I can't open my eye all the way without much pain, and I will be heading to my doctor in about an hour. The worst part about this eye thing is that I have to go out in public....with no makeup on. BWAAAAHAAHAAA! Halloween indeed.

Hockey player stalkin'

So, I was fully prepared to spend my entire weekend at home doing nothing since that is such a rarity for me, but then my friend Tanya texted me, wanted to go to OB Clark's to watch the hockey game, so I agreed. We go there a lot, and I have always known it is typically the bar that the players go to after the game, so we thought perhaps we'd see a Blue or two. Plus, it's where KMOX broadcasts their after game show. And we did see some players, but more on that later.

I must first describe Blues fans to you. There are two kinds: 1. Normal and 2. the hoosier Blues fan. Sadly for Tanya and I (who I think are in the "normal" group), we were surrounded by hoosier Blues fans at the bar. There was the dude wearing the Blues hard hat, dude in his old school jersey listening to the radio broadcast even though they were broadcasting LIVE IN THE BAR, and the dude whose mustache was so long he kept getting hot wing sauce in it. Needless to say, we were alternately horrified and entertained.

We knew some of the players had arrived because they were the only people in that dirty, smoky bar that were wearing suits. Ties and everything. Niiiiiice. So, in walked both goalies, Chris Mason and Ty Conklin, and right behind them was BJ Crombeen who was being interviewed on the radio show. Ty Conklin was standing about 5 feet away from me and I really, really, really resisted the urge to say "Hey Ty, great game!" (the reason that would have been funny-and rude-is because he was the goalie last night and he gave up 4 goals...and the Blues lost). Here's what I must report about all three of them-I've never thought this before, but once I saw them in person I have to say, they are all HOT. Mason with his shaved head, Conklin even had a beard (and all his teeth in) and still looked hot and Crombeen looks like a frat boy. Tanya and I have now committed to going to OB Clark's every Saturday there's a home game. Our hope is that by the end of the season we'll have seen all the players at least once.

Let the stalking begin!

Uh-oh

Why do these things always happen to me????

So, there's this guy I've hung out with a couple times recently, we went to high school together and prior to us hanging out a couple of weeks ago, I literally had not seen him in 15 years (yes, I've been out of high school 15 f-ing years. Shut up.). Sure, we've had fun, although it's been me providing most of the entertainment (shocking, I know. I have a big, and loud, personality. I can't help it), but you know, always good to see an old friend, right?

Well, here's the problem: I'm never one to just assume a guy digs me, BUT, I'm pretty sure this guy either thinks we're dating or that it's a possibility we may date in the future. My woman's intuition tells me this. The problem, I can't even envision myself dating him. Ever. No romantic vibe on this end. I'm not even sure we'll be "friends" in the sense that we'll hang out a lot (I mean, given some things that have happened this year, I'm really wary about who I allow to be my friends now. Self protection).

So, my question is, how should I handle this? I mean it's not like I can say "dude, you know we're not dating, right?" I mean, what if I'm completely wrong (which I don't think I am)? I hesitate to even hang out with him again for fear he'll get the wrong impression. I mean, I know I'm adorable, but GEEZ! (I was TOTALLY kidding about that last sentence, by the way). He's already starting to bug me with the phone calls (that I ignore. Oops.), the emails, and yes, even planning on being in Salem the same weekends I am. That last part is really the one that freaked me out. Dude, I do NOT want to hang out with you while I'm in Salem. I go to Salem to not see anyone other than my parents and brother. I stay in their house in the woods and that's about it. No socializing.

Ugh, THIS is why I need to stay single. Forever.

For all the female baseball fans (and, I suppose men too if you're into that sort of thing)

I'm taking a poll, ladies. Who was your very first baseball crush? Or sports crush in general. Seeing Ron Darling in the broadcast booth got me thinking about this (he was pretty cute back in the day. Now he's just bloated and weird looking).
don't tell me that 'stache ain't hot!
Instantly, my thoughts went to my first baseball crush...........Keith Hernandez, who, at the time, was the 1st baseman for the Cardinals (who knew he'd end up being a coke head and starring in a Seinfeld episode???). My sister was in love with his 2nd base counterpart, Tommy Herr (ahhh, the golden curls!). Granted, this was the early '80's, but still. It's pretty funny that I crushed on a dude with a 'stache considering my feelings about them now as a semi-adult.
check out the golden curls on Tommy Herr!

In the late '80's, I moved on to the Cubbies and grew to love one Mark Grace as well as Ryne Sandberg (both of which still look pretty good-no bloating and weirdness here! Just old.). That's why they are my dream team to be the Cubs manager and bench coach. Then, I can still ogle them, even if they're middle-aged now. Ahhh....dare to dream.
Ryno and Gracie....STILL love them!

In other sports, I discovered hockey right about the time I discovered the Cubs (so THAT'S where we went wrong...). And I was in love, love, LOVE with Blues center Peter Zezel. IN LOVE, I tell you. My sister and I wanted to marry him. I mean, that mullet was HOT! That's why I was so saddened to hear of his death earlier this year. My first hockey crush, gone WAY too young. Around that same time, I also developed love for Steve Yzerman (still hot) and Mike Modano (also still hot).
remember when he was in the move "Youngblood"?
Stevie Y is still a hottie, missing teeth and all!
You're welcome for this one, ladies!

I've never actually had a basketball crush or football crush (unless my current crush on Chase Daniel counts). I mean, I do watch the sports for the love of the game, but it sure is way more fun if there are some hot mens to look at. Am I right ladies???

Congrats to the Phillies-NL Champs.....AGAIN.

Well, they did it again (just as I predicted many months ago), the Philadelphia Phillies are the NL Champs for the 2nd year in a row. And man did they look unstoppable last night. The Dodgers looked like a little league team as the Phils crushed them 10-4. Sorry 'bout that Manny-now pack your bags and head down to the Dominican. I hear it's nice there this time of year. Chase Utley was lookin' hot, as was Cole Hamels. I was trying to decide if Jayson Werth was and got my answer when I heard him talk-the answer is a resounding NO, but damn can he play some baseball! I'm pretty excited about the World Series, especially if they end up playing the Yankees. I really, really, really dislike the Yankees and would cheer for anyone against them.

Cheer with me: LET'S GO PHILLIES! LET'S GO PHILLIES! LET'S GO PHILLIES!

taking a personal stand

I have made the executive decision to be a crab ass today. I didn't even have to think long and hard about this one-the decision came to me pretty quickly. Maybe it started yesterday when we have co-workers that shall remain nameless that call in sick when you know damn good and well they're not (funny how they were fine the day before, huh?), leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack. I'm cranky because I don't have the balls to call in sick when I'm not. The guilt takes over. Being an honest person sucks sometimes. On top of my crab ass-ness, I'm gonna admit something publicly and that is: I have eaten nearly an entire box of Cheez-it's today. And a donut. Don't judge me. I'm hormonal, dammit. Don't judge me, and stay outta my way. Thanks. Oh and if you have any sugar or carbs that come near me, let it be known that I WILL eat them. There's no "maybe" to it. I will.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must prepare myself for the office-wide fire drill. Ta ta.

The Phillies have won this game!

Great article on ESPN.com about last night's Phillies game. What an amazing game. The article is well written, have a read...................

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=4578540

Really, people?

So, I drive by Washington University every day on my way to work. This morning, as I sat in the turn lane at Forest Park Parkway and Skinker (yes, the street really is called "Skinker". Leave it to the STL.), I noticed several people holding signs as if they were picketing something. As I read the signs, I realized what their cause was-health care reform. Yippee. That's fine and all, but the part that really irritated me was that several of the signs said "honk for health care reform", and wouldn't you know it.....SEVERAL cars were honking. I felt like I was in the middle of a traffic jam in downtown Manhattan or something. On a morning when I have not been properly caffeinated, that honking could send one over the edge. Just sayin.

Update on the inflatable lawn ornaments

As I went jogging through my neighborhood last night, I found myself being totally pissed off because I didn't have some sort of sharp object with me. I was totally envisioning myself running around the neighborhood all vigilante-like and stuff, popping those damn lawn ornaments and then running like hell. Hmmmm......there IS always tonight......watch out giant inflatable Winnie-the-Pooh! Your days are numbered my friend.

Phillie Phanatic?

Uhm....I'm getting a little concerned about my newfound Phillies obsession. I mean, I was actually jumping up and down last night while watching them kick the Dodgers ass (final score 11-0. HOLLA!). Now don't worry, the Cubbies are still my team and always will be, but the Phils are quickly becoming my second team. I'm pretty sure it's more than my lust for Chase Utley, but maybe not. I totally dig Ryan Howard (I mean, he IS from the STL after all), and Cliff Lee and Charlie Manuel makes me laugh so hard every time he talks. Have you heard him? He sounds like all the hoosiers from my hometown in southern Missouri. Just sayin.

Here's the deal, should the Phillies make it to the WS (which I'm hoping they will), they will most likely be facing the Yankees and let's face it, NO ONE wants to see the Yankees win...do they? So, come on, jump aboard the Phillies bandwagon with me. It's a fun time, I promise! And if a fun time with me doesn't convince you, let me remind you of one thing-Chase Utley is friggin hot. ALL ABOARD!

Just do it

I haven't done it in awhile, so I think it's time. I mean, everyone else is doing it so why shouldn't I? It very well could be earth shattering and life changing at the same time. I've been thinking about doing it for quite some time now and have finally decided to take the plunge. I mean, I can do whatever I want with/to my body, right? This is America dammit! Land of the free and home of the brave. Since I haven't done it in awhile, I'm afraid I won't know what to do, but surely it's like riding a bike, right? Right?

So, what is it I'm gonna do, you may ask? Well, after fighting the urge for sometime and realizing the urge won't go away, I have decided to chop my hair off. I know, I know, kinda out of control, but that's me. Living on the edge, doing crazy, spontaneous things. Wait, why are you laughing????

I've decided long hair isn't for me anymore, it's too high maintenance and really, I never do anything w/it anyway, may as well have a style that's easy and caters to my lazy personality. Now, don't worry, I'm not going all GI Jane or anything (besides, anything too short makes my head look like it's too small for my body-true story), but I will be getting at least six inches chopped off. I'm pretty excited about it. I got the urge a couple of weeks ago but decided to sit on it-didn't want to make any hasty decisions. Well, here it is, two weeks later and I still have the urge, so I think it's a go. Yay! Change is fun!

NLCS

What a great game last night! Did anyone else watch it or do none of y'all care now that your Cardinals are out of it? I'm not sure why I have such an attachment to the Phillies, it can't be solely based on my crush on Chase Utley....could it? I find myself cheering for them, I know the names of every player in the regular lineup now and God help me, but I want them to repeat (cuz if they repeat, that means the Yankees did not win. Just sayin.) So, last night was Game 1 of the NLCS between the aforementioned Phillies and the Dodgers. I'm still mad at the Dodgers for sweeping my precious Cubbies out of the playoffs last year, so when their poor little 21 year old starter, Clayton Kershaw, completely lost his shit in the 5th inning, I was fairly entertained by it. Granted, the Dodgers tried to come back, but those Phillies can score a lot of runs....fast. Game 1 went to the Phils, final was 8-6. Woot! Woot!

The boy in the balloon

I'm upset with the Boy In The Balloon. You know what I'm talking about-the kid in Colorado that was supposedly floating in a homemade giant balloon that his dad had made (first of all, WTF? Who has a giant silver balloon that looks like a flying saucer in their backyard???). Why am I upset with him, you may ask? Well, let me take you back to yesterday afternoon.

We received an email from our colleague Nick who is on my team but telecommutes....from Denver. He told us about the developing story of the boy in the balloon, so we quickly logged on to CNN. com and/or MSNBC.com to find out what was going on. At one point, there were 10-12 of us gathered around my friend Amy's computer, watching live footage of the balloon floating through the air. Most of us were pretty upset about it, thinking about that poor 6 year old kid being trapped in the damn thing. And when one of the reporters indicated that the kid may have run out of oxygen and could be dead, our level of upset increased. We were now emotionally attached to this story. And, when the balloon landed with no kid inside, many of us assumed the worst, that he fell out of it and was probably lying on the ground dead somewhere. It was truly a heart breaking afternoon.

So, imagine my surprise when it turns out that not only was the kid safe and had been hiding in the garage all along, but he also heard everyone looking for him yet did not come out. Then, later on Larry King Live, the kid suggested that this may have been a hoax all along. Excuse me? So, an entire nation spent the day being upset and worried about the kid's safety, and it was all a publicity stunt? If that's the case, his parents need to be smacked. And he needs to be grounded. Just sayin.....

And this is why I don't watch the news.

Moving day.....again

I work for a very large managed behavioral healthcare company that shall remain nameless. You would think such a large company would at least do things that make some sort of sense. You'd think wrong.

Let me take you back to about a year and a half ago. There we were, housed in a building that the company OWNED, yet, they decided other divisions of our company needed that space, so they moved us....to the building across the street that we DON'T OWN to the tune of $50,000 a month rent. Yea, you heard me, 50 frickin thousand dollars a month. Tough landlord. So, we get all moved and whatnot only to find out shortly thereafter that the divisions of our company that were supposed to move into our old space decided to change things up and allow their staff to work from home. So.....here we are locked into a year long lease and the space we moved from? HAS BEEN SITTING EMPTY FOR THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. True story.

So, where the story gets good is here: a couple of months ago they announced that we were moving, again...........BACK TO THE BUILDING WE CAME FROM. Are you effin kidding me? Same floor and everything. Seems a move that cost roughly $200,000 (not to mention the $50,000 a month rent) was a HUGE waste of money, huh? For those of you that have an insurance policy through us, I sincerely apologize. This is why your premiums are so high. So, on November 6, we must again pack up our crap and have the company spend $200,000 to move us. My only hope is that now that my team is half the size it was a year and a half ago (literally), I'm hoping I can finally sit by my girls Julie and Amy. They keep me sane.

Happy packing!

KD's latest rant: inflatable lawn ornaments

I'm sure I've gone off on this before, but it's worth repeating. I hate, let me repeat that, I HATE those giant blow-up lawn ornaments and 'tis the season for them to start appearing on lawns everywhere. Take note: I'm ok with ONE PER YARD, but when you live in, say, the city and have a 10 ft by 10 ft yard, I'm pretty sure you don't need Winnie-the-Pooh on a sled, giant cartoon ghosts, Snoopy dressed as a zombie AND a life size haunted house in your tiny yard. It's just not necessary folks. I propose an ordinance be passed-one giant blow-up lawn ornament per yard-NO exceptions. You can pick whatever goofy one you want-but you only get one, so make your choices wisely. I'm already sick of driving by the many Halloween wonderlands in my neighborhood, and we haven't even begun the Thanksgiving and Christmas spectacular. Good Lord.

...and on the 6th day, all was right with the world

I have been very well behaved about the Cardinals getting swept out of the playoffs by the Dodgers. Well, ok, mostly well behaved. I might have told my co-workers today that I forgot to bring my broom to work. And I might have asked my boss if she had a broom I could borrow. But other than that, I've been very well behaved.

Here is what I observed while watching that hot mess of a game on Saturday:

1. The Cardinals played like they didn't even care (hmmm, where have I seen that before?).
2. The Dodgers looked bored-I mean, it was too easy for them. I think I saw Manny doing cartwheels in the outfield.....or was that just him trying to make a routine catch? Not sure.
3. The Cardinals looked like the Cubs the last two post seasons. You know, complete opposites of the team you saw in the regular season? In fact, at one point, I was convinced they actually WERE the Cubs but in Cardinal uni's (could've explained why sexy DeRo was wearing red, right?)
4. Skip Schumaker looks frickin sexy as hell with about 4 days worth of stubble. But I digress.
5. Albert Pujols is a big baby-way to leave the clubhouse without addressing the media and making DeRo do all the talking (no one else in the world can make a Jersey accent sound sexy though).
6. I'm really not a big fan of Ryan Franklin. He talks like a woman, he's got a pissy attitude and he thinks WAY too highly of himself.

So, the way I see it, the demise of the NL Central champs is only fitting. And makes me feel just a tiny bit better about the fact that the Cubbies didn't even make the playoffs this year. It should have been THEM getting swept, dammit!

On the 7th day, the world righted itself yet again when the Red Sox got swept by the Angels (sorry Ern, I know you like Boston). The Angels are a feel good story and if you're cheering against them, then you have no soul. :) Also in good news, the Phillies (KD's pick for 2009) beat the Rockies to take a 2-1 lead. That game must have sucked. It didn't get over until midnight Rox time and I think it was -12 outside (ok, maybe not that cold, but it was pretty effin cold). The only thing I didn't enjoy this weekend was the mother effin Yankees sweeping the poor Twins (and ending my opportunities to see Super Hottie Joe Mauer again until next spring-bastards).

In other sports, the Rams still suck and the Blues are back to .500 where many say they belong. But I still have faith in them. The Rams? Eh...not so much. In fact, the Rams are so good at being bad that an 0-16 season is not entirely out of the realm of possibility. That would be cool.

Stop your whining

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/7814EBF67D15291B8625764A000A41DA?OpenDocument

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Here's an idea-why don't you just accept that you lost and take it like the men that y'all supposedly are? Do you think the STL fans won't be waving annoying white towels tomorrow or that the sun won't appear in STL too (it's possible it won't actually, given that it's been raining for the last three days straight). It happened. You lost. Deal with it. Why can't those whiny players be like Albert Pujols-HE was focusing on the positive-saying his team can still win, NOT making excuses for why they lost. Just sayin.

Everyone lost

The big sports night is complete. And it wasn't so good for any of the Missouri teams. Let's start with the Blues. Their home opener. Who the F do the Atlanta Thrashers think they are? Are they any good? I forgot they were even in the NHL until I saw them last night. Anyhoo, they won thus ensuring the best possible record the Blues will have this season is 81-1. I suppose I can accept that. Oh, and Brad Boyes is hot.

Then we move on to the Mizzou game. Ouch. That was one big hot mess. The game and the five inches of rain that fell throughout the night. So, Mizzou is up 12-0 at the half, things are looking good and then...............in the span of seriously only FIVE MINUTES, the mother effin Huskers (stupid name, but whatever. I'm not bitter.) scored 20 points. Uhm, excuse me? Mizzou's QB, Blaine Gabbert just completely fell apart (who names their kid Blaine anyway?). And then I was all kinds of pissy because I stayed up until nearly midnight watching that mess. And, to top it all off, one of my reviewers from Tennessee called me bright and early this morning and told me that she had bet on Missouri and that I now owe her money (she also provided her home address so I could mail the dollar she bet to her). She has also invited me to come on down to TN and do some tailgating tomorrow morning before the UT game. Uhm......no.

And last, but CERTAINLY not least, we have the Cardinals game. Hmmmm.....what to say about that........let's just say, part of me is hoping that the Dodgers win again tomorrow so that the Cards can be swept out of the playoffs by them just like my precious Cubbies were last year. Is that evil? I see it as fair. Another part of me hopes the Cards win tomorrow so that 1. I will have more games in which to see Skip Schumaker and 2. I will have more games in which to see the Dodgers James Loney (oh wait, if they win, I'll see him in the next round won't I? Sweet.). I must say, I do sorta feel bad for Matt Holliday, especially since that ball he dropped hit him in the boys. So, not only did he embarrass himself on national television....but he got hit in the junk as well. Rough day for that dude, huh?

My niece is SIX months old today!

Boy does time fly! It's never more evident than when you're watching a child grow up. They get so big so fast!

Today is miss Kendall Alyson's SIX MONTH birthday! It is so hard to believe that she's so big already! She now has two teeth and she had her first swimming lesson this week, which she LOVED. She is still such a happy girl, must be because she has such an amazing mommy and daddy!

Sports dilemma

Ok, so today we have the MLB playoffs, the Mizzou Tigers football game on ESPN and the Blues first home game. How is a girl to choose? I forsee another late night in my future. And lots of channel flipping.

I LOVE IT!

KD's take on the first day of the MLB playoffs

Ok, so I'm a little obsessed. What can I say, I love baseball! I was only able to watch the Cards/Dodgers game due to my 12 hour work day, but I followed the other two. Here's my breakdown:

Phillies win game 1 over the Rockies-the Rox appeared outmatched. Or maybe it was just because Cliff Lee is a frickin beast. Or maybe it's because the Rox are outmatched. Oh, and Chase Utley is hot.

Yankees win game 1 over the Twins-BOO HISS! Not a Yankee fan, never have been, never will be. And it really pisses me off that they're gonna win the World Series.

Dodgers win game 1 over the Cardinals. This game I watched. I made several observations (Skip Schumaker has a great ass, I don't like Mark DeRosa with a goatee and James Loney is the only hottie on the Dodgers), the biggest one being that both teams looked like the Cubs last night. And I say that because they both left like 57 men on base-that's rollin like the Cubbies, y'all. And not in a good way. Both starting pitchers were just ok (what happened to the great Carp? ), the Dodgers bullpen is clearly way better than the Cardinals (I tell ya, you put a man named Denise on the mound and you'll get trouble every time). I'm very interested in today's matchup-Wainwright vs Kershaw. Should be good stuff. Unfortunately, I have to work Job #2 tonight and I believe that game is on at 5pm local time.

Since my favorite team is current either A. Golfing or B. playing in the Mexican league, I have switched my focus and am watching the playoffs solely to ogle the hot baseball players. Ok, who am I trying to kid, that's ALWAYS my focus.

Kudos to Cubs announcer Bob Brenly on calling the Cards/Dodgers game. I heart Bob. :)

I'll leave you with this: as the late, great Harry Caray used to say, if your name ends with an "S" then you must be Greek. I realize that had nothing to do with nothing, but it popped into my head so I though I'd share.

What the F ever

Check out this article on ESPN.com

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=4537035

The poor, poor Yankees haven't won a World Series in nine whole years. Boo frickin hoo. Try 101 you Bronx a-holes.

44

That's how many degrees it was this morning. I mean, I knew it was gonna be fairly chilly, what I didn't know what that I'd have to have my effin winter coat on. Geez. No need to worry though, I warmed up as soon as I got to work because they have my office building at approximately 167 degrees. Crisis averted.

So, who watched the exciting Twins/Tigers playoff game last night? They ended the regular season in a tie so they had to have a playoff game to determine who was going to the post-season. The game was SO exciting! It went 12 innings (I think, I don't really remember, but it was a lot) and the Twins won it in the bottom of that inning. I loved seeing their celebration in front of nearly 50,000 fans. Granted, I don't really care about either team, but you couldn't help but get caught up in it. And the Twins catcher, Joe Mauer, is really cute. My mother scolded me on Facebook, telling me I should have been cheering for Detroit. I suppose since she lived there as a teenager she has some sort of loyalty to the city I like to call "Detoilet". I subsequently accused her of being a closet Red Wings fan. So there, mother! Now that the Twins are playing the effin Yankees, I will continue to cheer for the Twins. As for the other playoff match-ups, I will be rooting for the Angels over the Red Sox and in the National League, as I've been saying for months now, I'm totally on the Phillies bandwagon. I truly haven't decided how I want the Cards/Dodgers series to go. Part of me hopes the Cards lose in 3 straight just like my Cubbies did last year so everyone around me will STOP with the gloating (it's really not becoming). But the other part of me wants them to get to the next round, face the Phillies and THEN get their asses handed to them. It's really gonna piss me off if they make it to the World Series. Just sayin.

I'm in hockey mode anyway. Yes, I'll follow the baseball playoffs and probably watch a few of the games, but I'm definitely in Blues mode. Their first home game is tomorrow and I can't wait to watch it!

I now must get back to looking like I'm working. That, and trying to wake up. Always a challenge on a gloomy Wednesday morning. Happy Hump Day y'all!

The good, the bad and the ugly

The Good: The St. Louis Blues! Yea, that's right, I didn't stutter. Our boys in blue SWEPT the nastastic Red Wings this weekend in Sweden. HOLLA! Other than the 1st periods in both games, they looked good. Both goalies, Mason and Conklin did great and Paul Kariya is back baby! Old man Tchakuk proved he's still got it as well. I'm super pumped. While I still think the Blackhawks and the Wing are the teams to beat in the Central, I think they both better watch their backs. It's so nice to be excited about Blues hockey again!

The Bad: The Chicago Cubs. Sure, they finished the 2009 season above .500 but who really cares-they failed to make the playoffs for the third straight year. And that's what it's all about folks. The only good thing I can take from it is that I most likely will never have to see Milton Bradley in a Cubs uniform again. That alone gives me the strength to make it to next April and the 2010 season.

The Ugly: The St. Louis Rams. Oh my dear God do they suck. Wow. They may even be worse than last season if that's even possible. They are currently 0-4 and for the 2nd time this season were SHUT OUT yesterday. At this point, I truly believe the Missouri Tigers (a COLLEGE team, mind you) could beat the Rams. Hell, my old high school team could probably beat the Rams. They are craptastic and I'm now feeling as if an 0-16 season is entirely possible. Go Team!

So, the MLB playoffs start this week. I am completely on the Phillies bandwagon, although the fact that their closer sucks makes me a little nervous about their chances of repeating. They're playing the Rockies in the first round, so we'll see how that goes. The Cardinals, on the other hand, are playing the Dodgers. Both teams have sucked the last week or so. Should be interesting. I'm sticking with my theme of cheering for only teams in blue, so.....Go Dodgers?!!? Then again, every team I cheer for (except for the Blues) tends to lose. So maybe I should be a Cardinals fan instead......I DO love that Skip Schumaker......

Blues hockey is here again!

OMG, yay! The Blues season officially starts tomorrow, 10/2!!! They are playing the hated Detroit Red Wings tomorrow at 2pm STL time (they're in Sweden for the 1st two games). I'm so excited for this season! I'm hoping they don't disappoint me like my baseball team did. There are high expectations for the Blues this season after making the playoffs last year. Paul Kariya is back and feeling 100% as is Erik Johnson. They've done well in the pre-season. There's a lot to be excited about. Plus, FoxSports Midwest is gonna televise 70 of their games, so unlike my beloved Cubbies, I'll get to watch LOTS of Blues hockey!

Many are saying the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vancouver Canucks are the teams to beat (notice I didn't say the perrenial favorites the Red Wings....not hearing much on them this year). I think the Blues can compete with them. I mean, sure, the Canucks swept them in the first round of the playoffs, but that was last year. This year, everyone is healthy (knock on wood), Chris Mason is a beast in goal, and TJ Oshie is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm ready for it. LET'S GO BLUES!
