TedWatch 2010-Trade Deadline Eve

Ted is still a Cub. For now. The latest rumor is that Ted will be heading to the Dodgers....along with Ryan Theriot. Don't care so much about The Riot part, but I DO care about the Ted part. Granted, the uniforms are the same colors, so it will almost be the same....except not. I do enjoy watching Dodger games because they have some hot players, so there's that too. And wasn't Ted drafted by the Dodgers way back in the day or am I making that up?

My question is, what are we getting in return? My only request is that they be hot. Thank you.

Stay tuned for the latest developments here at TedWatch 2010.

homeless chic

Good Lord, you should see me today. I look like I just rolled out of bed, threw some clothes on and came to work. Actually, that's exactly what happened. Yikes.

Last night was an insomnia filled night. When I was asleep, I was having really weird dreams (I can't remember them now, but trust me, they were weird). I woke up in a panic when the effin alarm went off, completely disoriented (it happens). So today I have some baggy t-shirt on with jeans and flip flops. VERY office appropriate, if I do say so myself. Don't be jealous.

I also woke up with two key ingredients for the makings of a migraine-nausea and headache. Awesome. It's gonna be a GREAT day!

In other news, the Cubs suck. But you already knew that, didn't you? At least Colvin and Castro give me something to live for.......SIGH. I've given up on the team for this season. It is officially official. As such, I must pick a new NL Central team to root for because, well, I AM still loyal to our division. Problem with that is, I don't like the other teams in the NL Central, so I must chose the team I hate the least. And, my friends (don't shoot me Cubs fans), that is the...................Cardinals. It's true. I'd rather eat glass than have the Reds win (lookin at you Joey Votto, even if you are Canadian), I hate the Astros and the Pirates because the Cubs can't beat them for some odd reason, and I hate the Brewers because, well, Ryan Braun is on the team. Sooooooo, that leaves me with the Redbirds. I have a previously established crush on Skip Schumaker, so the transition shouldn't be too painful. That and Adam Wainwright is also a hottie. Soooo, while I'll still watch Cubs games this season, I'll be doing it solely to see how individuals are playing-Tyler Colvin and Starlin Castro continue to shine (and carry the team, let's face it), and it's Lou's last year. Ugh. I hate that it's come to this but, well, that's life as a Cubs fan.

Effective today: the Cubs should officially become sellers.

MAN they suck.

That is all.

TedWatch 2010

As of 12:20pm CST on 7/28/10, Ted Lilly is still a Cub. I don't know for how much longer. I'm in trade deadline-induced depression. I hate the Cubs GM for all the stupid big contracts that now make players unmovable (lookin at you Big Z....and Fukudome). Because of that, they have to get rid of the only pitcher that has shown any sort of consistency for the last four years. That, and Ted's a bad ass. Ted getting traded makes me hate the Cubs even more.

I don't adapt to change well

I don't like change. I'm a creature of habit. Change throws me all out of whack. I'm like my father that way.

So, of course, life has thrown me lots of changes recently. For one-Cover Girl. Yes, I buy drugstore makeup, so sue me. On Sunday I went to the Super Wal-Mart in South County (classy, I know) to grocery shop and buy some other essentials. While in the makeup aisle, I looked around for my favorite foundation and couldn't find it. I thought it was Cover Girl, but honestly, I don't really actually pay attention to what brand it is, so I started going up and down all the makeup aisles to find it. I didn't find it. Getting irritated I thought "did they discontinue it?". This happens to my parents a lot-every time they really start to like a product, it gets discontinued. So, thinking I was gonna have to settle for a new foundation, I headed back over to the Cover Girl section and started perusing their foundation selections. Suddenly, lo and behold, I discovered my precious foundation. But how did I miss it, you may be asking yourself. Well, I missed it because they changed the packaging. Why was this necessary? I mean, seriously? All that anguish and turmoil for nothing (Ok, that was a bit melodramatic). SIGH.

Next change occurred today. I opened up the internet here at work and discovered our home page had changed. Now, this is a seemingly minor thing, but, again, I don't like change. Then, I logged into my Hotmail account (yes, this is technically not appropriate being at work at all, but....I don't care) and Hotmail has changed the entire layout too. WTF man?

I won't even get started on all the changes that have been going on at work thanks to healthcare reform and the new mental health parity laws. Thinking about that may cause me to start drinking......at work.

Pre-emptive mourning: Could this be Ted Lilly's last start as a Cub?

This is my outfit today. For reals. Ok, it's not, but it's how I feel inside.

Cubs Fans (and fellow TedHeads, as the TLFC calls us), tonight's Cubs game could be the last one we see our hero, TRL, pitch in a Cubs uniform. This is the sad reality. Thank God it's on WGN tonight. I know where I'll be from 7pm-10pm tonight. Watching Ted....maybe for the last time. I'm not sure I'll be able to love him any more if he becomes a dirty Yankee. I'd rather he go to the Cardinals. My hope is that all this melodrama is all for naught and that Teddy Ballgame will remain with the Cubs for the rest of the season and then test the free agent waters. Purely selfish, I know. I can't help it. Ted kicks ass. Literally-just ask Yadier Molina (actually, it wasn't so much Yadi's ass that Ted kicked as it was, well, his man-gina. There's video. YouTube it.).

If Ted is traded, it'll be a sad day in Cubdom. A sad, sad day.

Don't go Ted....DON'T GO!!!!!!!!!

Shamelessly stolen from the fam blog-Girls Lunch 7/24/10

Cute cute cute! From left to right:
My sister and beautiful niece, Aunt Jan, cousin Kelli, 2nd cousin Taylor, cousin Jessica, 2nd cousin Addison, Aunt Cheryl, Aunt Mary and yours truly.

Wish the other ladies could have been there, but there's always next month! I love my fam!!!

He called the s**t poop!

This story is too ridiculous not to post. My apologies to my brother, his friend Travis and my brother-in-law, who were at the Kings of Leon show Friday night and witnessed the apparently traumatic poop incident. Please see the link for details.....

Cubs-Cards this weekend. Cubs fans-do we even care?

Of course we do! We're bred to care. Sure, the Cubs suck ass, but it's Cubs-Cards people! I mean, we all know what the outcome is gonna be (hint: Cards fans, dust off your brooms now), but so what? It's baseball at it's funnest (yes, I know that's not a word. Work with me here).

I just spoke to my co-worker Jean who is a Cardinals freak (and who just put a voodoo curse on the Reds....for real. Her success rate for voodoo curses is freakishly high. I'm staying on her good side), and she is not so confident about her team this weekend. She informs me that Jeff Suppan sucks. I informed her he's pitching against Belleville's own, Randy Wells today and, well, Wellsie is a crapshoot. She also informed me Blake Hawksworth is an iffy pitcher. I informed her that's ok because he's kinda cute. I'm down with eye candy.

Game time is 1:20pm. Against my better judgment, I'll be following along while here at work. Why? Because it's Cubs-Cards.

Bring your child to work day

Blech. There are 40 children in the office today.

Not that I don't like children, mind you. I just don't want them in my office. Sure, they say that the rugrats will have structured activities all day and will not disrupt the work flow today....yea right. How many 5-12 year olds do you know that can be structured for an ENTIRE day?

I'm not sure who came up with this brilliant idea and why it's even necessary. WE WORK IN CUBICLES. How exciting is that? "mommy sits in her cubicle all day and makes phone calls". "Wow mommy, that's cool". Um, yea.

I've already seen some of the critters today and they're cute and quiet right now, but they're also probably not awake yet. Give them time.

The upside is that in honor of this fabulous day, the company is treating the entire office to pizza. This is something I can support.

I'm perfectly comfortable in my role as the crabby old lady. I've found others that agree with me. The office is not an appropriate place for children.....for eight plus hours.

Thank you.

Rami's back on my good list....for now

What a FABULOUS Cubs game last night! Wow.

I'll admit, I played the roll of bad fan. During a commercial break from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, I went online to check the Cubs score (no TV coverage here) and saw that it was 7-1....Astros. Disgusted with this, I clicked off ESPN and vowed to not follow the game the rest of the night.

So, imagine my surprise when I later logged into Facebook and saw several postings about the game being tied at 7. Um....what? The Cubs came back from a 7 run deficit? The CHICAGO Cubs? They did indeed do that...and more. Seven more, to be exact. Yes, the Cubs went on a 14-0 tear to beat the even-lowlier-than-the-Cubs Astros 14-7. Woo Hoo! Happy Announcing Your Retirement Day to Lou Piniella!

I must brag....seven of those fourteen runs came from my most favoritest Cubbie, one Aramis Ramirez. I've been down on him most of the season, you know, because he was batting .170. He is now batting like .226, which I realize is still crappy, BUT, he went from .170 to .226 in the span of like 2.5 weeks. That's impressive. And I'm gonna need him to continue on this tear. Thanks.

The Cubs are still 10.5 games back in the Central because the Cardinals apparently forgot how to lose. No worries on that however as I've jumped on the Cards bandwagon....solely because I have a new found hatred for the Joey Votto led Reds.

I know the Cubs most likely will not go anywhere this year, BUT, it sure is nice to be excited about baseball again. Nothing like seeing your team actually play well....even if it will be next to impossible for them to climb out of the hole they dug themselves in the first half.

Goodbye Sweet Lou

Well, Lou finally confirmed what we all suspected.....he is retiring at the end of this season. I know Lou drives us nuts sometimes, particularly this season, but all in all, he's been one hell of a MLB manager (and player back in the day).

I'll miss Sweet Lou, I really will. I'll miss how he starts every sentence with the word "look". And how he over-uses the word "nice"-i.e "he's a nice ballplayer", "he's got some nice pitches", "he's done a real nice job for us". That's part of Lou's charm.

Here is what I want-a manager that will light a fire under these players asses. Someone that will push them and not accept suckiness. Someone that won't play the veterans just because they're the veterans. Someone who plays whomever is playing well, even if that guy is a nobody. Someone who will give a damn.

That is all.

As the MLB trade deadline looms.....

KD is filled with sadness. The Ted Lilly trade rumors continue to swirl and are picking up speed. I don't like it one little bit. I realize for his sake that going to a potential contender would be a good thing, but I heart Theodore Roosevelt Lilly. And, despite his ERA and record this season, he is a damn good pitcher. Take Carlos "I was just kidding about being good" Silva. Take the other Carlos too...you know, the crazy one.

Here are the Cubs I would not miss:
Ryan Theriot. Sorry dude, but it's true.
Xavier Nady. Meh.
Mike Fontenot. I'm not sold on the Cajun connection (see Ryan Theriot above).
Some of those random bullpen pitchers that all look alike.
Fuke. Sorry Fuke, but let's face it, we have all the outfielders we need.

I'm sure there are more, but I'm sleepy this morning and can't think clearly. I may start drinking heavily if the Cubs trade Ted. It'll be a dark, dark day in Cubfandom.

KD's running dialog during the All-Star Game...with myself...and pictures!

It started as running commentary on my Facebook page. I then decided I would document my thoughts about last night's All-Star Game. For the first time EVER, I watched every second of it. Below are some of my random thoughts, complete with pictures to give you a visual:

We should all start singing "Kumbaya" and holding hands... :)United for one night and one night only. Oh and DAMN Joe Mauer is hot! (my response to my FB peeps who were excited that we were actually cheering for the same team for once)

Josh Hamilton, you're one of my favorite players...but thanks for the DP!

Dammit, Ryan Braun! (I think he had just struck out when I yelled this)

Joe Mauer is batting ONLY .293....I guess that is low for him since he batted like .700 last season (or something like that)

Andy Pettitte is hot. Corey Hart is not.

Jeter's nearly been hit twice now...by both Jimenez and Josh Johnson. Good job boys.

This game is definitely pitcher dominated. Pettitte? Filthy. Johnson. Filthy. Cliff Lee? Filthy.(pitchers....get it?)

Holy crap..nice catch Ryan Braun to rob Josh Hamilton! Wow! (cheering for him felt very, very dirty)

0-0 game in the 5th. Who will score first?

Marlon Byrd sighting! He's playing CF in the 5th! Go Byrdie!(yes, he's in a Texas uni in this pic...but I thought you'd enjoy the guns)
Whoa Kuo! WTF kind of throw was that???? AL 2nd and 3rd...no outs. Yikes.

1-0 AL. Boo. Kuo sucks.

Joe Mauer-not playing well...baserunning mistake-looked like Ryan Theriot out there (NOT a compliment). He's still sexy though. Mauer...not Theriot. Just so we're clear.
Though this is not new news, I feel I must say it.....the AL is better than the NL. Period.

Byrd with an attempted running/diving catch...he didn't get it. But he gets an "A" for effort! (sorry, I couldn't find a pic of it)

Ha ha! Pujols kid was talking smack to Scott Rolen. Love it. He apparently looked at Rolen and said "what are YOU doing here?". Love it!

Marlon Byrd batting in the 7th draws a walk. Nice AB Byrdie! (and as we now all know, withouth that two out walk, Brian McCann wouldn't have had the opportunity to bat and hit that bases clearing double...)

Byrd scores on Brian McCann's base clearing double! 3-1 NL!I realize Brian McCann and puppies has nothing to do with last night's game. I just liked the pic.
NL got out of the 7th still up 3-1 no thanks to Matt Holliday. Dude has some real issues catching routine fly balls....

I love Brian Wilson (Giants closer) and his mohawk! And the bright orange shoes. Saw an interview with him once-he is hilarious! In the middle of the interview he picked up a guitar and started singing "Carribean Queen". That, my friends, is awesome. And there were empty bottles of Sky vodka behind him. I want to party with this guy.

LMAO! Heath Bell is wearing 3-D glasses for no apparent reason. Love it! (I SO wish I had a pic of it!)

Look at Marlon Byrd smiling during his 2nd at-bat. I love this guy! He's having fun out there. Who cares if he struck out?

"The Cubs will start the 2nd half 9.5 games out of first in the NL Central"-thanks for reminding us, Joe Buck. A-hole.

Brilliant play by Byrdie! Defensive play of the game throwing out Big Papi at 2nd! He may have just saved the game!
(turns out, he did)

WOO HOO!! NL WINS! NL WINS! And Byrdie had his fellow outfielders do the Cubbie jump with him-nice. Dude had a smile on his face the entire night. I love this guy!Not a sight you'll see everyday. But tonight, they were teammates.

MLB All-Star Game

I don't know why, but I love the All-Star Game. Mind you, I don't watch the entire thing (that would just be crazy) but I really love the introduction of the players and the feel that, for just one night, they are all on the same team. Tonight my NL loyalties will reign supreme. I will probably stick around for most of the game to see if the Cubs lone representative, Marlon Byrd, gets to make an appearance. I sure hope he does. Byrdie deserves it. And, I think America would like a chance to get a look at his guns. MEOW! Which brings me to my next reason for liking the All-Star Game-seeking out new hotties to obsess over. I don't see the AL players much, perhaps there's a hottie out there I'm not aware of? I mean, I already have Joe Mauer on my All-Hottie Team, but perhaps there's others?

I'm still not over my bitterness over the St. Louis fans cheering for everyone on the NL team except for Ted Lilly and Ryan Braun last year (they both got undeserved boos from the classy STL crowd....). YOU'RE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM TONIGHT A-HOLES. Just sayin. So, let's band together and try to cheer the NL on to a long awaited victory!

Also, my condolences to the Steinbrenner family and the Yankees organization as George Steinbrenner passed away this morning. Love 'em or hate 'em, it's always sad when someone passes away.

Things I noticed during last night's pajama series Cubs-Dodgers game

Yes, yours truly stayed up and watched that entire game (impressive, since 10pm is considered "up late" for me. For reals.). Here's what I observed about this game:

1. The announcers kept talking about how well Randy Wells was pitching. Now, don't get me wrong I loves me some Wellsie, but seriously? He had a hart time throwing strikes and was only helped out by the Dodgers swinging at bad pitches.

2. Ryan Theriot is a BAD base runner. Riot-do not ever, EVER, attempt a steal again. You're not good at it. Thank you.

3. Toward the end of the game in particularly, the umpiring was questionable at best. Not sure if anyone saw the latter part of the game, but I'm fairly certain a ball that is a. about six inches off the ground and b. is not even over the plate, is considered a ball and not a strike. Am I correct? Apparently Wendelstadt (sp? I'm too lazy to look it up) thought differently. I got the sense that dude was just ready to get the game over with and go home and/or hit a late night buffet somewhere.

4. The bad umpiring even caused mild-mannered Marlon Byrd to lose his shit and get tossed from the game (it was kinda hot, just sayin). Uncle Lou rushed out to argue (well, maybe "rushed" is too strong a word, more like "walked quickly") and got in the umps face, which was fun. I liked seeing Marlon say "f**k". It's the little things, people.

5. The Dodgers have a lot of sexy mens. I'm sorry, but they do. Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, James Loney? Are you kidding me? Mama like.

Thank God some of the rest of the games for this series are day games cuz I don't think KD can stay up until midnight again.

Happy weekend everyone!

15 months!

Wow....I can't believe Miss Kendall is 15 months old today! It's true what they say-time flies by. It seems like yesterday we were getting the call that she was born. Now she's a running, jumping, talking and apparently slapping 15 month old. Seems the "terrible two's" may be striking a bit early......yikes. Good thing she's cute. :)

Kendall, her mama and I are having a girl's day on Saturday, just the three of us. We're gonna take munchkin to Grant's Farm. It's a place here in St. Louis that has lots of animals including baby goats that you can feed with a bottle. Sounds like good times, huh? I'm very excited to spend the day with two of my favorite girls!

Happy, happy birthday to my Mikey!

I just wanted to publicly wish my precious Mikey Poo a very Happy Birthday today! Lubs u boo! I hope you have a gay-tastic day!

SO proud of my baby brother!

Yay for Timbo Pistachio!

My brother found out yesterday that he passed the Praxis-which is the big test you have to pass in order to be able to get your teaching degree. I know he's been working hard and it's paying off! He's now one step closer to becoming an awesome teacher (even if Mr. Davidson is mean and never smiles....according to some 5th graders...LOL!). I always knew he could do it but am just so proud of him!!!!

Congrats Tim!!!!

Happy 4th of July Weekend, kids!

Ah, the celebration of our nation's independence is upon us....let the fireworks shootin' and drinkin' begin....right?

Yours truly is opting for a far less obnoxious way to spend my time this weekend. I'm heading home to Salem.....but not before I hit the 311 concert tonight. Jealous? You should be. OMG, I haven't listened to those guys since college....this should be interesting. At least their lead singer Nick Hexum is hot. Always a bonus. Saturday I'll be heading to my home town where, apparently celebrations will be underway for it's 150th birthday (there's a big fancy word for that, but I'm too lazy to look it up). PAAAARRRRTAY! There's gonna be a parade and everything people! HOLLA! I'm sure there will be some sort of fireworks display...not sure if we're attending that. Maybe we'll just shoot bottle rockets off the back deck. Good times.

In other news, my sunburn from last weekends 10K Mud Run is now officially....peeling. OMG, I look like a freakin leper....skin peeling off like a snake. Sexy visual, I know. I have to resist the urge to peel it off (shut up, you know you do it too). I'm a hot mess.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend. God Bless America.....and stuff.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to my M&M's and Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi......the lunch of champions.
