Salem stuff

Good luck to the Salem High School baseball team today.....they're playing in the state playoff sectionals against Fulton for a chance to go to the Final Four. Salem is led by an apparent pitching phenom in Grant Gordon (with an ERA of 0.38, are you effin kidding me? Can the Cubs have him?), who I used to babysit when he was a baby-I'm just sayin. Kid, when you get drafted pro, remember who changed your diapers.....

Weezer's coming to St. Louis!!!!!!!!

Thanks to my friend Val's phone call this AM, I have died and gone to Kerri heaven. OMG, OMG, OMG...................Weezer (and Blink 182-YAY!) are coming to St. Louis on September 3rd! HOLLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As y'all know, I LOVE Weezer.....I've seen them live five times and can't get enough! This girl will be online at 10:00am next Saturday ready to purchase my tickets! Yay!!!!! This soooooooooooooooo made my day. Seriously.

Crazy Carlos: A Meltdown of Epic Proportions

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Carlos-Zambrano-indulges-in-one-of-the-top-meltd?urn=mlb,166275

Neal Cotts gone, Cubs win-coincidence?

I think not. Neal Cotts ouster to AAA not only made MY day today, but the roster moves appear to have motivated the Cubs as they beat the lowly Pirates 5-2 today. Call-ups Fox and Blanco did their best to let Sweet Lou know they wanna stay in the Majors for awhile with RBI's for both-good job boys! Now, keep it up. Big Z, unfortunately, went bat shit crazy today (in patented Z fashion) and has most likely earned himself some type of suspension.

Victim of the week-the Cubs snazzy beverage machine in the dugout. Earlier in the week, feisty Canuck Ryan Dempster punched it after a not-so-good performance and then, today, Big Z took a bat to the poor thing! How are the boys supposed to get their Gatorade now?

So, the Cubs have now won two in a row after losing eight. I'm hopeful that they are starting a new winning streak and will start playing like I know they are capable of. It won't be easy, they have the MLB's best team, the Dodgers (the DODGERS? Really???), this weekend. Here's hoping the new additions will continue to contribute and here's hoping Ted Lilly will be his usual bad ass self on Friday.

GO CUBS GO!

Former St. Louis Blues player, Peter Zezel, dies at the age of 44

Sad news today, Peter Zezel, former NHL player, and former St. Louis Blues player died at the age of 44.

It's sad, of course, but why is it significant to me, you may ask? Well, I'll tell you, back in the day, Peter Zezel was HOT. I mean, HOT. In fact, he was the sole reason my sister and I started watching hockey back in the early '90's. He had the hockey hair a flowin and was even featured in the hockey movie Youngblood (as seen below). Yes, he was by far my favorite player back in those early days. My sister and I would be glued to the TV screen trying to catch a glimpse of him. We'd never miss a game.
Apparently, he had some weird form of anemia and had recently had surgery to remove his spleen...and things went awry. I don't know, I was pretty sad to hear the news. From what I've read, sounds like he was a really great guy-had a hockey camp for kids, was close to his family and wanted his organs donated if/when he died. Pretty stand up guy. Sad stuff indeed.

Glory, glory hallelujah...Neal Cotts has been sent to AAA!

It's like it's Christmas morning around here. Hated Cubs "reliever", Neal Cotts, has been banished to AAA Iowa today. I put the word reliever in quotes because, let's face it, he sucked ass...when Cotts came into the game, even if the Cubs had a 5 or 6 run lead, you could rest assured Neal Cotts would do his best to negate said lead. My God does he suck! The Cubs have called up Jake Fox, who, apparently is like freakin amazing this season in AAA and called up some other dudes (names not important). Aaron "I look better without the goatee but I still suck" Miles has been placed on the DL and can maybe work on not sucking. In sad news, fan fave BOBBY SCALES! (trademark) has been sent down to Iowa. We love some BOBBY SCALES! but, let's face it, he hasn't done much lately. God love him.

The Cubs actually managed to win a game last night, ending their eight game losing streak. This isn't the Cubs of old where losing eight in a row was not only expected, but hell, it was encouraged. I mean, they're the Cubs, right? Well, not anymore, now that they've provided us with glimpses of greatness, we now have expectations of winning. Period. Get 'er done boys, get 'er done.

The world is black

Ugh. My Cubbies have lost eight in a row. EIGHT IN A ROW. Words cannot even describe the suckiness. A new low was reached last night when they lost to the Pirates. THE PIRATES. Why do I keep repeating myself???? Ted Lilly managed to get himself kicked out of the game when he wasn't even playing (now that takes talent)-Ted, as you know, is a BAMF, and Ted decided that from the bench, he didn't like the calls the home plate umpire was making, so Ted being Ted, he decided to tell the guy about it. Love it. Sadly, even though the Cubs did manage to score 8 runs, they still managed to give up 10. Blame Ryan Dempster for six of them (can we deport him back to Canada?) blame mother effin Neal Cotts for the rest (even if he wasn't responsible for ALL of them, he was responsible for MOST of them and I hate him).

I'm starting to lose hope for this season. Yes, I realize we have many months left, but this team just doesn't seem to have any heart. They're just going out there and not trying-or so it seems. Sure hope they snap out of it soon......

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope this day finds you well. I had a great weekend although it went by WAY too fast! My adorable baby niece Kendall was in town this weekend. She is sooooo stinkin cute! And getting so big, Aunt Kerri just stared at her the whole time, wanting to soak it all in. She's six weeks old now and is quite interactive-smiling and cooing. She is becoming her own little person-she is a good mix of both her mommy and daddy, although her profile is all daddy. She's got her mommy's red hair and blue eyes. She is totally amazing and I love her so much!

There were other things besides Kendall's visit this weekend. My brother Tim graduated with his Associate's this weekend down in Bolivar, Mo. Nothing says "fine family fun" like me, Tim and our parents staying in a hotel room together. Good times. We also managed to make a run to the Bolivar, Mo Wal-Mart (because, why not? Tim and I needed allergy meds BADLY). The graduation was nice (although I discovered that you can still get sunburnt even sitting in the shade...), although the ride home was a bit hellish-an HOUR LONG traffic jam trying to get out of Bolivar (it probably seemed more hellish because we were so anxious to get back to St. Louis to see Miss Kendall and Red and Jon).

Sunday was spent with the extended fam at Shaw Park (pictures below). Fun times were had by all. Kendall and Addison got to meet each other and everyone got to meet Kendall for the first time. The men played "hillbilly golf" and the ladies got our fill of the cute, cute babies! After rain threatened our little shindig, we headed over to Aunt Cheryl's, where several of the aunts played Wii bowling and I continued to just stare at my baby niece. I'm amazed by her, I truly am. Enjoy the pics!

P.S. A very special congratulations to my dear friend Elizabeth and her hubby Ed. They welcomed baby #5 (yes FIVE) on Friday, Miss Sydney Elizabeth is happy and healthy and gorgeous like her mama! :) Love you Lizzard!

My niece will be in the STL today!

Yahoo! My sis, brother-in-law and gorgeous baby niece are coming to St. Louis tonight! YAY! I'm so excited! I mean, I don't get to see them until Saturday (boo) but just knowing they're here makes me happy! Miss Kendall will get to go on her very first plane right tonight at the ripe old age of six weeks! :) Here's hoping she's a good girl and sleeps the whole time-you hate to be the people with the crying baby on an airplane....everyone giving you dirty looks and stuff, you know what I'm talking about.... :)

Busy, busy, busy next few days. Got book club and a visit over to Carrie's tonight to finally meet her friend Heather. Tomorrow, I have to haul my ass in to work at 7:00am so that I can leave around 3-ish so I can drive to Rolla, meet my parents and brother, then drive on to scenic Bolivar, Mo (uh...yea). Timbo Pistachio (as we like to call him), graduates with his Associates Saturday morning at SBU and I couldn't be prouder! After Tim's graduation ceremony, we're all hoping back in the car and heading back to St. Louis, where we'll FINALLY get to see Kendall and all her chunky cuteness. Sunday is the big Memorial Day fam picnic at Shaw Park where Kendall will make her big debut to the rest of the family. I'm sure she'll hang out with her much older cousin, Addison (older by like six weeks!). Good times will be had by all! I LOVE fine family fun!

Kris Allen-the new American Idol!

Meet your newest American Idol, America! Congratulations to Kris Allen, who won last night. I didn't watch it, but my trusty friend Val texted me to advise me of the results (and to harrass me about the fact that my precious Cubbies were losing to the mother effin Cardinals AGAIN...I was aware since I was there and stuff). Proving yet again that beauty trumps talent (according to Mike, anyway), Kris beat out Adam Lambert, who is probably the more talented singer but, let's be honest here, his screeching DOES grate on your nerves after awhile. I'm just sayin....
I think Kris is adorable and I like his cool, laid back singing style. What I did NOT like is that fact that I've heard that stupid hurricane song they forced on the AI winner as the first single THREE times this morning. I'm already sick of it, no offense Kris Allen, it's really not your fault you were forced to sing such a cheesy and ridiculous song......

Let's now talk about my Cubs, or as I like to call them, the Runless Wonders. The offense clearly thinks it's on Spring Break. The only folks showing up to play some baseball are the Cubs pitchers right now, Ryan Dempster pitched a fine game last night but the a-hole offense couldn't muster up anything against Chris "I've played like twice in the last five years" Carpenter. The sole Cubs run coming from one Micah Hoffpauir (the Hoff, if you will). Even new fan favorite BOBBY SCALES! let us down last night.

Let me tell you about our terror moment at last night's game. Things were going ok, I kept my eye on the bullpen because, let's face it, they scare the shit out of me. Anyway, I see a stirring going on down there and prayed and prayed and prayed it wasn't who I thought it was warming up. Sadly, God doesn't answer my prayers, because it WAS who I didn't want it to be-one Neal Cotts-those two words alone are enough to strike fear in Cubs fans nationwide. I shudder at the memory. Anyway....the good news is, Cottsy never came in, Marmolade pitched well in his place. Never got to see Gregg pitch because well, the Cubs weren't winning, so no need to put in your save guy, right?

I swear to God, if the Cubs get swept by the effin Cardinals tonight, I may cry and/or become self-injurious. I'm just sayin.

Gilles did NOT win Dancing With The Stars

Is he hot or what????

Ok, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't even watch the finale of Dancing With The Stars (American Idol and the Cubs/Cards game took precidence, ok?), but I was still rooting for Gilles Marini because he is one hot Frenchman. I'm just sayin......

Little Shawn Johnson took the mirror ball trophy and Melissa from The Bachelor took third. It was a good season, but I got bored the last few weeks and my attention to the show was sporadic at best. Sorry, DWTS.

DWTS is over and American Idol will be over tonight. What is a girl to watch now? I suppose I could focus all my attention on Cubs baseball (which I most likely will), I mean, after all, the Cubs do have some hot guys and we all know KD is motivated by hot guys. I mean, have you seen Kevin Gregg in all his goggled glory? Mmmmmm.....Clark Kent indeed. Me likey.

Hells bells

Well, F me running...the Cubs made the Cardinals Joel Piniero look like 2009's Cy Young winner. Pssssst, newsflash, he ain't that good folks. But the Cubbies way sub-par play tonight had you fooled, didn't it? Ted "BAMF" Lilly, was strong but not strong enough (and if you have to ask what "BAMF" means then I'm sad for you. Don't make Ted show you.). Sadly, even my Teddy Bear loses sometime. I was really hoping the Cubs would ride the 3-game sweep wave that the Brewers left while in town, but sadly, it was not to be. I'll be at the game tomorrow night where British Columbia's own, Ryan Dempster takes the mound against.......Chris Carpenter? Is that right? Didn't that guy's arm fall off a while back or something? I realize he's the Cardinals Messiah, but I'm still not too scared of a guy who spends more time on the DL than, well, just about anyone.......

I do have one message for my gero-crush, Lou Piniella. Please, for the love of GOD, don't start Aaron Miles anymore. In fact, why don't you just give him back to the Cardinals. Sort of as an, um, peace offering......no? I tried.

I'm a liability

Oh good Lord, and my Monday was starting off so well. I wasn't cranky, I was ready to tackle the day, I wasn't even mad about having to pay the parking ticket I got Saturday night.....then BOOM, I happened. It started out innocently enough, I strolled down to the break room to get ice, something I do every morning. I had my cup o'ice in hand, greeted the two ladies in the room and then......I slid on something (I believe there was water on the floor), my feet went out from under me and I landed on my right ankle and left knee (it takes talent to land on BOTH sides). My ankle immediately started swelling and turning purple (the two ladies in the break room were both nurses, who took one look at it and were like "ooo, that looks bad"). I managed to NOT cry (even though I really wanted to), sat there for a bit, managed to get to my feet (with the ladies help) and hobble back to my desk. I informed my supervisor who got me some ice for the ankle and then advised me she had to fill out a workers comp claim because it happened at work. I really don't feel that's necessary, I mean, it's a twisted ankle for God's sake, it'll be fine. Our HR lady suggested I go to the doctor which I ever so politely declined....KD doesn't have time for that BS this week...working both jobs today/tonight, baseball game on Wed, book club on Thu and leaving town on Fri...NO time. And I wouldn't have gone anyway. My boss then handed me the paperwork I have to fill out and it's like freakin War and Peace. What a pain in the ass. Right now the most painful part is the knee....it's turning a lovely shade of purple as well. I'm mostly pissed because I can't go to the gym today. I'm officially cranky as my typical klutziness has now caused a way bigger issue than it's even worth....Happy Monday!

Kerri Davidson: Reporter/Classifieds

It's official, good ol' KD is now a reporter. Of what, you may ask? Well I'll tell you, I, Kerri M Davidson am now a reporter for the St Louis UBH "Monthly Matters" newsletter (which Dr. J says the title reminds her of ladies "monthly matters"...if you catch her drift). It's a very prestigious position, many are jealous of the kind of power I am now gonna command. I hear the St. Louis Post-Dispatch may be calling....or Time Magazine. It's pretty big stuff kids. Big stuff indeed.

Ok, truth behind this story-my work decided they'd start a newsletter. Somehow, word got around that I like to write and voila I end up on the committee. My first mistake was missing the first meeting because guess what duty I got relegated to doing? Yep, that's right, writing our very own Classified Ad section, similar to Craigslist, people at my work can now peddle their crap through me. Yay. I guess any great writer has to start at the bottom, right? Right??????

Acai berry and what it can do for you...

OMG, Mike and I are cracked out of our freakin minds. I think my heart may burst out of my chest and I'm pretty sure Mike is currently having an out-of-body experience. All we did was take some acai berry pills....with green tea (and Mike has been mixing his with diet soda). Yikes. Mike is over in his cubicle laughing for no reason, I'm trying to focus on my work and pretend my ears aren't ringing and pretend I don't feel like hurling. I'm pretty sure we're gonna die. That, or the crash we're sure to experience is gonna suck hardcore...........

The most anticipated tour EVER? Really?

Ok, so I heard a radio commercial this morning that almost caused me to drive off the road (a scary thought when driving down Skinker....have you seen how crazy those folks drive on that road?). This particular commercial announced the most anticipated tour EVER. Ever, I tell you. Whose tour is it, you may ask? Well, I'll tell you.....it's CREED. Uh.....isn't "most anticipated tour ever" stretching it just a bit? Isn't "band who should never reunite IS and now they're touring" a bit more accurate? I mean, Creed? Really? Here's a triple bill for ya-Creed with opening acts Train and Three Doors Down. I want my money back and I haven't even purchased a ticket.

Um, I posed this question to my peeps over at Cubblogging, but I'll pose it to you as well-what kind of sick, twisted world are we living in when the Cinncinati Reds are in a 3-way tie for first place in the NL Central? I mean, seriously? I think I hear Armageddon calling.....speaking of all things improbable, the Cubs feisty and adorable short stop, Ryan Theriot, hit not one but TWO homers last night. Someone's been eating his Wheaties! Dude had like eight LIFETIME homers before this season and now suddenly he's Mark McGuire (minus the 'roids). It's starting to freak me out...but in a good way.

In other news, Danny Gokey got the boot on American Idol. I'm sure somewhere my friend Michele is crying....I can't say I'm surprised (about Danny getting the boot, not about Michele crying....). I think he'll have a successful career, but I'm glad little Kris Allen made the final two. Good for him. Next week's finale should be fun times! Also of note, Ty Murray got the boot on Dancing with the Stars this week. LOVED me Ty Murray. He was just too adorable for words and seems like a really nice guy. The finals are now between Gilles Marini (quite possibly the hottest man ever), Melissa Rycroft (from The Bachelor) and Shawn Johnson-famed US Olympian. All three are great. My hunch is that it will come down to Melissa and Gilles....we shall see next week!

In just over a week I get to see my baby Kendall! Can't wait to see her chubby lil self! ;)

Now I get it

I finally get why there are so many people addicted to prescription pain medication. It's so easy to obtain. It's actually a bit frightening. I went to my oral surgeon's office today for a follow up appointment, had to make sure everything was healing correctly. The first thing the nurse/assistant/chickie said to me was "do you need any more pain meds?". Not, "how have you been feeling?" or "are you still in any pain?" but "do you need any more pain meds?". Now, I could have very easily said yes and scored myself another script. I mean, I've already got some Darvocet at home and that script for Loritab, why not add another. But the fact of the matter is-I don't need it. I politely declined her offer (does that make me stupid? Don't answer that), my oral surgeon came in, said I'm healing perfectly and told me he doesn't need to see me again (which kinda felt like a breakup....abandonment issues, anyone?).

Anyhoo....didn't watch American Idol last night. I know, I know, my public will be upset that I didn't provide them with my weekly commentary, but eh...just not feelin it. Sorry.

My Cubbies won last night and the Cardinals lost-always a good equation in my book. ;) The Cubbies have Ted Lilly pitching tonight which makes me feel good about their chances of winning. I mean, it's TedsDay for God's sake. If by some odd chance he doesn't pitch well tonight, he can always beat your ass (right Yadier Molina?). So, either way, it's win/win. Me loves myself some Ted Lilly.

I'm kinda just cruisin' until next week....I get to see my sis, brother-in-law and my beyond cute niece, my brother is graduating next weekend, there's fine family fun to be had....looking forward to it! I'm working at my part-time job the rest of the week (yay?), my Canuck is out of the country for the next two and a half weeks (leaving a void in my day....I already miss his emails...). I'm gonna have to find other ways to entertain myself........

My niece is ONE month old today!

Where does the time go? My sweet baby niece is already a month old! I can't wait to see her in a couple of weeks and would LOVE to see some new pics of her (hint hint Baumgart!). ;)

I got to "talk" to her on the phone today, tell her how much Auntie Kerri loves her. She mostly just cried but I know she could hear me. ;) Baby girl is 10.1 pounds now! Definitely not starving! Please say some prayers for her-her doctor thinks she may have a heart murmer-which is probably not a big deal, but nevertheless, she has to get an EKG to check it out, poor baby!

I love that kiddo more than anything in this entire world.......

....and then the hurling began

Ugh. There is nothing worse in the world than throwing up. My pleasant Darvocet haze/comfort food evening quickly turned into something way unpleasant. Yes, let's just say my dinner came back to visit me last night....and I'll leave it at that. Today hasn't started out much better. I've finally been able to keep some crackers down...and that's about it. Oh, and the right side of my face is a bit swollen, I'm hoping it doesn't get any bigger because I really don't wanna end up looking like Rocky Dennis a la "Mask". You know what I'm talking about.

I'm gonna work on keeping this jello down, wish me luck with that. My uncle thinks it's the Darvocet that's making me sick, I've stopped taking it but remain nauseated...so we'll see. Me thinks it might be the penicillin they've given me. Either way, I don't like it.

Gone fishin'

I'm still alive folks! Were your skurred? I was. My mom asked for a blog post while on Darvocet, so....here it is! I've spent the better part of the day napping and watching TV, but am fairly with it right now (although I'm only 15 minutes from my next opiate dose...woo hoo!).

So, everything went well. I didn't die, so that's cool. My auntie C brought me to the oral surgeon's office bright and early this morning, once I was brought back to the surgery room, the stuck a mask over my face, assuring me it was only oxygen I was inhaling.......and then, the laughing gas came. I remember the nurse asking me if I was feeling it and my reply was "uh, I don't think so". Uh, huh. I next remember them asking me how tall I was, and how much I weighed (to which I replied "too much" and got them all laughing. Me thinks the laughing gas may have been kicking it at that point....). Next, I remember Dr. Bedrock coming in (great name, huh?) and saying something about how he was going to have to go fishing to find my veins to run the IV, he then asked me if I liked fishing, to which I think I replied "no", then he and the nurses started talking about fishing, and that's the last thing I remember. Next thing I know, I'm sitting in the waiting room (totally don't remember even walking there) and Aunt Cheryl is there, I was apparently telling her I was ok and also, apparently, told her the "fishing" story about five times. Uh yea, so I was a little out of it (Versed will do that to you). We then proceeded to Schnucks to fill my scripts (an antibiotic and the mother lode-Darvocet and Loritab!), where I decided to just sit because I still felt like I was having an out of body experience. And part of my tongue was numb. Weird.

Since we've been back at Aunt Cheryl's, she has taken really good care of me. She's making sure I'm taking my meds on schedule, she's fed me jello, pudding, yogurt and popsicles. I've been in a drug induced haze most of the day (at one point I SWORE it was raining....Auntie assured me it was, in fact, not raining). I'm being taken care of, that's for sure! A girl could get used to this.

Well, it's just about time for another Darvocet dose, so I'll bid you adieu.

Oral surgery

This will be me tomorrow.......
Ok, so I've been freaking myself out reading things about wisdom tooth extraction on the internet. Probably not the best idea given my dental phobia, huh? I've read horror stories about dry sockets, people's faces swelling to near unrecognizable status, people being unable to eat solid food for THREE WEEKS (which, really, doesn't sound all that bad. Hello weight loss!), terrible, terrible things. I read this on the eve of my own wisdom tooth extraction surgery. Yikes. Yes, tomorrow morning at 9:00am, I will be "going under" and getting two wisdom teeth ripped from my head. I will be blissfully unaware (hopefully, although I did read one story of a guy who woke up in a trance-like state in the middle of his surgery and could "see" them operating on him-yowza) of what's happening to me, but anticipate being in pain afterwards. Luckily, I have my Auntie C taking care of me tomorrow. Given my inability to tolerate narcotics in the past, that should be fun. Auntie, I apologize in advance for anything I may say/do. You've been warned. I can't even be excited about being off work for two days because I'm FREAKING THE HELL OUT. I'm trying to decide what I should have for my Last Meal tonight, you know, in case I don't wake up tomorrow (hey people, it could happen). I've already let Mike know that should I not wake up, I am leaving all my worldly possessions to him, to which he replied "I don't want your crap". Such a sweet friend. Now, I realize I'm being overly dramatic about the whole situation. Some of that is for entertainment value, some of that comes from genuine anxiety. Either way, I'm sure I'll be fine and be in la la land in no time, however, should the fact that the oral surgeon's office 1. first called me to tell me I needed to schedule my appt when it was ALREADY SCHEDULED and 2. called me to advise me of my appointment and gave me the wrong time, concern me at all? My life is in their hands...I'm just sayin.....

American Idol Top 4

It's Rock Week. Ok fine. But Slash as this week's "mentor"? Um, what? When did AI take this strange and disturbing turn? I think it may have started with the season in which they felt it would be appropriate to have Barry Manilow on and it's just snowballed from there. I mean, Jamie Foxx and Slash? Really, AI? Is that the best you could do? Who's gonna be the "mentors" next season? Lady Gaga and T-Pain? Is Engelbert Humperdink still alive to make a cameo? I mean, seriously people!

Paula's bangs looked weird tonight. Did anyone read the story about how Paula finally admitted she "used" to have a problem with prescription pain meds? "Used" to Paula? Are you sure about that honey? I'm just sayin....

So, anyhoo....it's rock week. How did your Idols do? Here it is, in my humble opinion:

ADAM-he sang "Whole Lot Of Love" by Led Zeppelin. First of all, is anyone surprised that he did a Zeppelin song? I mean, seriously. Second of all, he kicked SO MUCH ASS, I don't even know what else to say about it. And he was ROCKIN some guy liner. Loved it!

ALLISON-she sang Cry Baby by Janis Joplin. She's a Janis kinda gal, but really, the song was just ok, I didn't love it. Her hair looked cute though.

KRIS-he sang "Come Together" by The Beatles. Always tricky doing the Beatles since they are totally the best thing that ever happened to music, but whatever. I know the judges didn't like him, but I thought he did good! Maybe it's because I have a bit of a crush on him, I don't know (I AM often motivated by cute boys, not gonna lie), but I thought he did a pretty decent job. That being said, I'm afraid to say this is prolly his last week. Boo hoo.

DANNY-Oh please dear God in heaven, don't ever, EVER let Danny sing "Dream On" again. Yikes. I think at one point (probably during that hot mess of an ending) my ears started bleeding. I'm just sayin.....

THE DUETS-
Kris and Danny did "Renegade" by Styx. One-never heard the song before. Two-their harmonies were great, the rest just so so.

Adam and Allison did "Slow Ride" by Foghat and they. kicked. ass. Wow. Great, great, GREAT job!

Sadly, I think Kris' time has probably come. I think he's great, and I think he will have a successful career, but based on tonight's performance and the judges comments, I think he'll be the one getting the boot tomorrow night. I may cry. No, really.

Aren't doctors supposed to know these things?

Uh, we have a doctor here at work today who is hurling his guts up. Don't you think, of all people, he should know that he needs to go home? But oh no, he's staying. Now listen here doc, I swear to God if I get the swine flu from you I'm gonna have to kill ya (if the piggies don't kill me first), I'm just sayin......

It's too early to get too excited, but my Cubbies have won four in a row. Me likey. I also like the fact that Ryan Theriot is all of a sudden channeling Barry Bonds and is hitting homer like, daily. Rumors are now running rampant that the itty, bitty Riot is juicing...how else could you explain such a phenomenon? I mean, seriously?

T-minus two days until I get the pleasure of having teeth ripped out of my head. Yep, it's wisdom tooth removal time and I couldn't be more excited (and by "excited" I actually mean "terrified beyond belief"). The only blessing is that I will be knocked out, blissfully unaware of what's happening to me. I will then be cared for by my Aunt Cheryl for the day/night, doped up on some opiate, oblivious to the pain and the world around me. Life could be worse, I guess. :)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm in search of a mask to ward off germs and lots of hand sanitizer. No piggie flu (or any other flu for that matter) for me. And Dr. Sicky, please GO HOME.

It's only April.......

Well, crisis averted with Grandpa. Yea, Gramps had a bit of a run in with his lawn mower this week. Seems he thought it was a good idea to stick his hand IN the lawnmower while it was ON. Uh, do we need to check him for dementia or some other form of cognitive decline that tends to happen with old folks? The good news is-he didn't lose the tip of his finger as originally feared, but he did get some stitches, a tetanus shot and some IV antibiotics. And he was apparently flirting with the nurse at the urgent care center, asking her if she wanted to shart a fifth of VO with him. Ah Grandpa, ever the ladies man.......what in the world are we gonna do with him???? My goodness do I love that crazy old guy! :)

The piggie flu, you know I gotta comment on this. I swear to God, if I get one more email from United HealthGroup asking employees about the effin piggie flu, I'm gonna lose my frickin mind. We're talking at least three emails a day. I think that's a bit excessive, don't you? I get it-if I start running a fever and start exhibiting flu-like symptoms I am to NOT come to work. I get it folks. I is a smart girl. My favorite part about this whole flu outbreak is that my Lil Miss Health Dept sister is PISSED that she's off on maternity leave during the biggest outbreak since SARS. Sorry you're missing out sis! ;)

Now that it's May and I can't use "it's only April" as an excuse, I gotta say, my Cubbies are starting to tick me off. 10-11 during the month of April is not so much good. In fact, it downright sucks ass. Currently, they are losing today. Now, I'm all for an early season slump as long as they can turn it around and dominate the rest of the way, I just hope they don't get so far behind they can't catch up. Granted, nearly 50% of their starters are injured right now, so that doesn't help, BUT, these people are supposedly professionals, so even the backups should be getting the job done. I'm just saying.

Now that I am apparently a joiner at work (who knew?), I am doing the Heart Walk with some of my colleagues tomorrow morning at Busch Stadium. In the rain. Yay. Ok, I'm really doing it so that I get the chance to actually walk on the field, seems like a pretty cool thing to get to do. Rain be damned.
