Beaches and beverages

Folks, this time tomorrow I will be getting ready to head to beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC. Granted, I've never been there, so I don't actually know if it's beautiful, but I assume it is.

Yes, the fam and I are embarking on a 15-ish hour road trip in the morning. Now, you may be saying to yourself "gee, isn't that kinda sad for a single 34 year old woman to be going on vacation with her family?". And my answer to that is.....................no. Unlike a lot of people in the world, I actually like my family and can't wait to spend the week with them! Bonus: an entire week with my niece??? SOLD. Yep, it'll be me, my parents, my brother, my sister and brother-in-law, and my adorable niece. That is a recipe for fun right there.

I just have to get through a 12.5 hour workday today (ick) but then I'm off until August 16. Yes, TEN days from now. Thank you little baby Jesus. I'm packed for the most part (packing for 10 days is awfully hard. I mean, your shoe options alone are overwhelming.....) and am bringing the most important thing......the booze. I mean...hello, it's vacation! I decided on a cocktail that we could all enjoy (except, of course, for the baby. We'll wait until she's around 16 before introducing her to that...I kid! I kid!). In my possession, I have a giant bottle of sweet tea vodka that we will mix with lemonade. Trust me, it's delightful. Now hopefully we won't have a repeat of the incident a few years ago when my mama had like two pina coladas and we had to help her up the stairs (my family doesn't drink much-myself included-so we're not good drunks). Oh, I am so excited! My sis came up with the great idea of having a sibs night out while there-you know, leave the baby with the grandparents and then we go out and parrrrrrrtay! My sibs and my brother-in-law are some of my favoritest people, I'm sure the four of us will have a fab time...and find some trouble to get into.

Tomorrow will be the first leg of the trip-yes, we are driving. Considering you need a U-haul just for the baby's stuff, we will be taking two cars. Our goal is to get about halfway there tomorrow and stop for the night. Between the baby and my father needing feedings every couple of hours, it will most likely be an, um, long day. And I'll love every minute of it.

I've burned some roadtrip CD's (because you know, when you're going through some of those hillbilly states, there's not much on the radio), including some "oldies" for my parents to listen to (it's a travesty that my mom let her satellite radio subscription expire...). I'm fully prepared to have Puffs and/or sippy cups thrown at my head (little Kendall has her ways of letting you know she needs something. Good thing she's cute.....). And I'm also fully prepared to have to listen to......kids music. Yes, my dear friend Julie was kind enough to burn some children's songs CD's for us to play for Kendall. Can't wait to hear Mickey and Friends rockin out.....

There will be no blogging this week, no Cubs watching, no stress, hopefully no worries. I will, however, most likely be posting things on Facebook-you know, my dad's crazy quotes (he's almost as funny as Grandpa. Although he's never claimed to be half African American like Grandpa did last weekend....), and updates about what we're doing. I fully expect that by the time I come back on 8/16, the Cubs will have overpowered the Pirates for last place in the NL Central, the most recent Bachelorette will have already broken up with her "soulmate" and that world peace will have been achieved. Don't let me down.

Adios!

Hey KD, sounds like you are all set for a great vacation with the family.
I know they have casinos there, maybe you'll hit it big if you try your luck at it.

I could hit it big and quit all my jobs! :)

Awww, I'm the opposite - not much fam, but a great husband. Gotta be thankful for what we got, right?

Have a safe trip, wear sunscreen, watch out for sharks and again, have fun!

awwww...go give Mr. Jen a hug! You're right though, we should be grateful for what we have. Don't forget you also have your Cub fan family. Sure, we're a motley crew.....but we're fun! (or crazy, I'm not sure which one...) HA!

Crazy=fun in my book! Or is it fun=crazy? I hate math.

Speaking of our carnival fam, I can't believe you're going to miss the Reds series! I was really looking forward to a verbal castration of Joey Votto.

O.M.G. - Google stalker strikes again - word verif: "famsi"!

oh, I can verbally castrate from a distance! I wouldn't want to let the Tri-State Whores down!
