yet some more rambling about American Idol...

Here is tonight's breakdown:

1. LaKesha-LOVE me some LaKesha, y'all! She made me wanna get up and dance in my living room (I didn't, by the way).
2. Chris S.-Ewwww...that was a big ol' mess. It's really hard to sing like Sting...didn't really dig it, but I still love Chris-still think he's good, but he may be on the chopping block tonight.
3. Gina-Wow! She was great tonight, great song and she totally nailed it. She saved herself from the bottom three tonight.
4. Sanjaya-WTF was up with his hair? And WTF was up with the random No Doubt song? Shay Shay freaks me out....and not in a good way.
5. Haley-Is it karaoke night and no one told me? That's what she sounded like....can you say "chopping block"?
6. Phil-I think Phil was awesome tonight. He actually pulled off Sting. Loved it!
7. Melinda-She kicks so much ass it isn't even funny. She's amazing. She made me wanna dance in my living room too.....but I didn't.
8. Blake-Could he be any more adorable? I think not. I loved his version of "Love Song", I still have it in my head. The judges are right-he's the best of the guys.
9. Jordin-Loved it! It was more age appropriate for her. She's cute and is a great singer. She is more of a "pop" singer than Melinda and LaKesha are.
10.Chris R-I thought he was pretty good. Not my favorite, but pretty good. "Don't Speak" is a great song.

Tonights worst girl? Probably Haley-she's just not as good as the other gals. Worst guy? It would have to be Shay Shay. But we all know he won't get voted off, so my guess is the bottom three will be Haley, Chris S. and Shay Shay. It's possible Chris R. will be in the bottom three as well. We shall see tomorrow night!!!!

new poll! new poll!

It's baseball themed....duh!

gotta love South City.....

Ok, so I was just driving home from work, minding my own business, when I see a rather obese gentleman walking down the street........in nothing but a wife beater and some boxers......should I have rolled down my window and asked him if he was single?

what's going on today?

Hey party people, what's up? First of all, I have to say that my friend Erin's supervisor is insane. Second, dude, what was up with the crisis line last night? I got the call that you hate to get-lady is suicidal, refused to give her name, is calling on a blocked line that I can't trace, has a plan and means to do it. Not fun if you are the counselor taking that call. My hunch is that she was just completely personality disordered and looking for attention. The hard part is-I'll never know. I really hate calls like that. Of course, my supervisor told me I did a good job, but I still hate calls without resolution like that. Hate it.

Anyway, what else is new? It's American Idol night. LOVE IT! Cubs opening day is only 6 days away. LOVE IT. And I want to give a shout out to my Mikey Poo-just because (see biatch, you got mentioned again, so HUSH!!!!!). Is it wrong that I am already ready for the weekend? Not that I have big plans, mind you, I just like having time off since it is such a rarity for me. Saturday is the only day I have off. I may just lay low this weekend unless anyone out there wants to do something. Call me, email me, text me, whatever!!!!

I am ashamed to admit that I am loving MySpace. I know, I know. I used to hate it soooo much. But I have reconnected with so many old friends from high school (grade school even!) and college. One, my friend Sara, I have known since kindergarten. And my friend Brandon from high school (and college), and my friend Brian, and Jim who is from good ol' Northwood R-4 as well. I love it. Having so much fun. It's like crack.

Ok, well, I gotta go do some actual work now. Later.

ok, I'm just sayin'....

Been doing a little internet searching this morning (yes, I am working hard), and most all of the MLB 2007 predictions I have seen predict that the Cubbies, yes, the CUBBIES, will win the NL Central. I'm just reporting the news people, calm down! Of course, you know how it is, on paper this sounds about right. We'll see how they really play come next week. It gives me renewed optimism, however, so again, don't kill my delusional dream, ok? As the future wife of Aramis Ramirez, I can tell you that I am gonna be hardcore this year. I kinda slacked in my loyalty last year, but fear not, KD the Super Fan is back!!!! I'm gonna have my super cute Cubs hat on every day (ok, maybe not, but I will carry it in my car every day for any and all hair emergencies). Can y'all tell I'm excited about the season! OH-I forgot, Cards fans-I'll have you know that my love for Mark Mulder helped my team get a question right at trivia night. Of course KD knew that the Cards got him from Oakland. I LOVE myself some Mark Mulder, and will be tuning in to quite a few Cards games this season as well.......Eric, I MUST get up to Chicago. You, me, Wrigley Field? Sounds like a good combo to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more thing before I go. I have to tell you that I am LOVING my Toby Keith's Greatest Hits CD (volume II). It is so good. Has my favorite song of his "I Wanna Talk About Me". LOVE IT!

One week!

One week from today my Cubbies will start their season. YAY! I am soooooo excited. I love baseball, love my Cubs and, as usual, hold out the hope that they will be good this year. Don't kill my delusional dream, ok? They are just over .500 in Spring Training, although I should note that over the last few games or so they have shown a lot of improvement. Carlos Zambrano is looking good and is clearly the ace of the pitching staff. I'm pissed I didn't get him on my fantasy team.....Aramis Ramirez is looking good as well (thats MY BOY!!!!). I love it, love it, love it!

So, I've decided to give Text Boy another chance. Since we have actually talked on the phone now and all. We are going out Thursday night. I figure a Thursday isn't as big of a committment as, say, a "date nite", like Fri or Sat. That way, there's no pressure. So, we'll see how it goes. Considering I don't NEED a man to make me happy, I am not stressing about this at all. If it works and we start dating, great. If not, I'll be fine. Don't you love my positive new attitude? I actually mean it. My life is great right now, I have no complaints.

We are slaaaaamed at work today. It was apparently a good weekend to get admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit. What is wrong with people???? I have to work the crisis line tonight too, so that should be fun. A nice, looooooooooong day. Can't wait.

Mike and I are looking for jobs where we get paid to sit and look pretty......anyone know of any openings? Thanks.

Whose Fantasy Baseball team is gonna kick some ass?

Uh......that would be mine, thank you very much. I got Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen. How do you like dem apples????? My league did the autodraft, not sure why, so you have no control over who you get. Well, my autodraft seems to have gone well. I also have Miguel Tejada, Manny Ramirez, Rafael Furcal, Jason Schmidt and John Smoltz. Plus a bunch of other dudes I've never heard of, so I'm not sure if they are good or not. I didn't get any of my beloved Cubbies. I see my girl Hallie got my boy Alfonso Soriano....perhaps a trade shall be in order. I am good about following fantasy baseball for the first few weeks, then I kinda slack off, I can't help it! I need to get on the ball and order my DishNetwork. They have a package where you can get Commcast Chicago-HELLO! All my Cubbies games! Totally worth it. I am so excited for the baseball season-it starts soon! April 1 and 2. Can't wait baby! GO CUBS! And go my team-Shake and Bake. Know what that's from? You Talladega Nights fans know......... :)

P.S. Red and Jon-have fun in Vegas. Remember your mission-one of you is to get a picture of yourself with an Elvis impersonator. Don't come back until this happens. Got it?

Easter funnies

Erin, you're gonna have to park the car

Ok, this stiff neck thing is getting ridiculous. I was feeling a bit better today, it seems to get worse as the day goes on. Tonight, as we were parking to go to Venice Cafe, I had to have Erin parallel park the car because I couldn't turn my head to do it! It was so sad. And pretty pathetic.

So, we didn't do so hot at trivia night tonight (and we were even sober!). We got 70 out of 100 questions right-it's a C (I'd have taken it in high school!). The questions were freakin' hard man! And can I tell you about the geriatric crowd? I swear our table was the only table under like 60 there. I mean, who else would know the answer to a question about Red Buttons? There were the cutest puppies and kitties there (it was, after all, the Humane Society). There were brother and sister puppies that were German Shepherd and Husky mix named Sadie and Stewie, they were SO CUTE. I wanted to take them both home. Erin and Carrie fell in love with an orange kitty-it was really cute but the cats were making me sneeze. No kind of fun.

After trivia night, we attempted to go out. My neck was really starting to hurt though, so I wasn't sure how long I was gonna last. I contemplated going to Gitto's because Text Boy called me today. Yes, I said called instead of texted. He said he'd be at Gitto's tonight for some karaoke. My peeps and I decided against Gitto's (nothing against him, but really, I was all sneezy and my neck hurt, I wasn't so much feeling cute. What if he didn't dig me anymore after seeing me? I don't dig rejection....). We went to Venice Cafe, which is usually really cool, but their outdoor patio was closed off (we wanted to sit outside-hello, it was nearly 80 degrees in the STL today!). Venice is an f'ed up place. Example-the womens bathroom has nothing but babydoll heads on the walls and the toilet is up on a pedestal. I rest my case.

Well, I think the muscle relaxer and Advil PM is about to kick in, so it's nighty night for me. Later peeps.

Saturday, March 24, 2007

"I don't think this muscle relaxer is doing anything"

That is what I said to my sister on the phone last night. Her response? "I don't know, you sound kinda loopy to me". Was I? Yea, maybe I was. If only you could have seen me, it was quite a sight. There I am, laying on the couch in my jammies, hair piled up on top of my head, with a heating pad and a blanket wrapped around my head. It was very sexy, I tell ya! Text Boy even texted me last night (go figure!) and asked what I was doing. Gee, how do you respond with the above? Here's the good news. I finally got some sleep last night (I threw in an Advil PM for good measure) for the first time in nearly a week. Voila! I'm up at 9am on a Saturday and I feel almost human again. My neck is still sore but I can move my head a bit more today. I'd like to thank my friend Rob who said it's all because I'm over 30 now. He will pay for that comment, mark my words!!!

So, big exciting weekend plans? I'm not doing a ton due to my newfound limited mobility. I am attending another trivia night tonight MINUS the huge drinking binge from last Saturday. Ugh, I'm just plain too old! I need to do all the fun errand stuff today, grocery shopping and stuff. Other than that, I'm just chillin'. And taking muscle relaxers, apparently.....

acute torticollis

That is my official diagnosis. Literally translated, I believe it means "pain in the neck". But we already knew that, right? So, that is what my doctor tells me is wrong with me. What is is exactly? Well according to Google.com, it is "Torticollis, sometimes called wry neck is not a virus at all. Torticollis is a muscle spasm in the neck, similar to having a charlie horse in your leg". Yep, sounds about right. I got a script for a muscle relaxer, Skelaxin, so I'm ready to roll. My doctor offered me some Vicodin, but I politely declined. I was told by co-workers that I was an idiot for doing so since you should "never turn down pain meds". Spoken by true mental health professionals, huh? I had a low grade fever too, but my doctor didn't seem too overly concerned about it. So, guess I will only temporarily be paralyzed from the neck up. It's been 5 days-it could take up to two weeks to start feeling better, so good thing I went to the doctor and gome some muscle relaxers. I look forward to an evening of reading magazines, sitting with the heating pad and drooling on myself as the muscle relaxers take effect......

sorry, but I had to.....

I'm gonna be nice

There is so much I could say about the whole Tony LaRussa DUI thing, but I won't. Despite not being a Cards fan, I do respect the man. However, I know everyone is quick to defend him because he seems to be a stand up guy, but, reports I've heard indicate he was at a stoplight-passed out. That would certainly indicate a fairly high level of intoxication. That's all I'm saying.

On to more exciting celebrity news, what is up with Stephanie being ousted from Idol? I certainly think the voters probably made the wrong call on this one. Granted, I don't think she would have won, so perhaps it was best to have her leave sooner rather than later, but there are at least three or four other contestants still on the show that are not as good as she is (Shay Shay comes to mind......). I love that show. I cannot tell a lie. And now that Andy at work has informed me of www.dialidol.com, I am all over trying to predict who is gonna be booted.

Ok, so I think my neck may be on the road to recovery. I am cautiously optimistic at this point. I woke up this morning and have a bit more mobility. It still hurts, along with my ear, but definitely better than yesterday. My co-worker Sherill gave me some of this spray that she got from her chiropractor, it's kinda numbing, but it feels pretty good. I'm debating calling my doctor at this point since it seems to be getting better. I'll decide by lunch if I'm gonna call or not. I have no idea where my health insurance card is, which may be a problem. Think since I work for the company, I can just walk over to the medical side and say "hey, I need a new copy of my card?". Probably not......

So, I'm finally getting my taxes done tonight. I tried to get them done last week, had all my ducks in a row (or so I thought), got to the place and the lady was like "we need your social security card". Ok, granted, I probably should carry it with me, but I don't. So, I wasn't able to do my taxes because of that one minor technicality and had to reschedule for tonight. Here's hopin' Uncle Sam is kind to me.....

make it stop

So, I cried myself to sleep last night because this literal pain in my neck is getting to be too much. It hurts like hell. It makes it very hard to lay down when the pain is in your neck, so no position was comfortable. I even took a muscle relaxer and still couldn't sleep. I am so over this little situation. No, I have not called my doctor because I was really hoping this little situation would have gone away by now. I told someone at work that I wanted to chop my own head off. No need to bring in the white coats or fill out any affidavits, however, I am done. Thanks.

this week's American Idol commentary-by Kerri M. Davidson

Not that anyone cares about my opinion, but here is what I thought of tonight's American Idol:

1. Haley-I originally wasn't a fan, but I liked her tonight. She was sassy, and I always like sassy. I thought she sang pretty well.

2. Chris R.-I haven't been a big fan of his but LOVED him tonight! He was dead on. Probably my favorite guy performance.

3. Stephanie-didn't do so hot tonight-the judges agreed. She was just kinda blah.

4. Blake-LOVE him and his plaid pants!!!! He was awesome. Mikey-your boy is back!!!! Blake is definitely my favorite guy overall. Who's your daddy, indeed!

5. LaKesha-it wasn't her best tonight, but she is still awesome and will be top 5 easily.

6. Phil-yea, Phil may be going home tomorrow. It was ok, but was kinda weird.

7. Jordin was A-MA-ZING. Absolutely my favorite of the night. Never heard the song before, but she was awesome.

8. Sanjaya-Oh my, LOVED myself some Shay Shay tonight! Wow! Where the hell did that come from? I could have done without the crying little girl though....

9. Gina-ok, I didn't think she was as bad as the judges said she was. I think she was better than Stephanie, but still didn't sing as good as I have heard her before.

10.Chris S-I loved him tonight! I thought he was great, and besides, he is way funny!

11.Melinda-she is just awesome. Can't even say a bad thing about her!

Two best performances? I'd say Jordin and Melinda. Best guy was probably Chris R. The two worst performances? Probably Phil and Stephanie. Everyone else just did so much better than last week, it was overall a much, much better show! I still can't believe little Shay Shay.....and, seriously, what was up with that crying little girl????? Can anyone say "Depakote". Thanks, I knew you could.....

my mom is so funny

My mother just admitted that the only reason she watched "Dancing With The Stars" last night was to see if Heather Mills-McCartney's prosthetic leg would fall off while she was dancing. I swear, this is the funniest thing I have ever heard. She said, and I quote, "Old Heather kept the leg on during the fox trot. But I’m betting when they do the salsa or tango someone is going to get a leg upside the head".

Now y'all know why I am the way I am.....

over it

I am sooooooooooooooo over Text Boy. Do you hear me, Text Boy? He texted me again today, all chit-chatty. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A REAL CONVERSATION DUDE? I mean, seriously. I swear I'm not angry and bitter........

OMG, I love Amy Henson

Amy called me this morning at like 7:30am, all in a panic, concerned that I was dead. I assurred her I was, in fact, NOT dead. She apparently had some crazy dream that I didn't wake up for work today and it was later discovered that it was because I was dead. Poor Aim! I know it is a horrifying thought to think of the great KD being dead....(enter sarcastic comment here). I was then concerned that perhaps she had just jinxed my commute to work, so I drove with extra caution. I am happy to report I am still not dead (in case you were wondering). I believe her dream stemmed from the fact that she gave me a muscle relaxer to take for my stiff neck (I know, I know, you are not supposed to take meds from others, but I was desperate people-DESPERATE I tell you!). The muscle relaxer helped me sleep, alright, but my neck is still stiff. I feel like such an old lady. So, people, if you come up behind me, I am not trying to be rude, I swear-I really can't turn around. At least not well. Thanks for playin'.

spotted on msnbc.com today.....

OMG, I'm dying

A bit melodramatic, I know, but I'm telling you-I'M IN PAIN. I have a stiff neck. It hurts!!! I can't turn my head at all. I'm not sure what I did to cause such things....I don't like it, so now I'm gonna be a big, whiny baby until it gets better. Any treatment suggestions?

And in the Leave It to KD category, I discovered I have a bruise on the TOP of my foot. Who does that? Besides me? I really, truly am my own worst enemy and really shouldn't be allowed to leave the house. At least, not without a padded suit on. Or, at the very least, a helmet.

I am so sad-my Mikey Poo isn't at work today. Who am I gonna talk to? Who is gonna make me laugh? Who is gonna entertain me with their stories from the weekend? Who, I ask? I am not happy about this situation at all. Mikey-next time you will clear it with me before calling in-do you hear me mister????????

Where am I?

Ugh. 4:14am is when I got home this morning. I am toooooo damn old for that! Now, don't get me wrong, I had a great night, it was just really, really long. So, St. Pat's was a good time! How was yours? The night started with our Trivia Night. My God, we had so much alcohol with us-my friend Carrie made a huge freakin' tub of her famous sangria-dyed green of course. It was the envy of all the tables. And we were pretty tipsy by like 8pm (never a good sign). Carrie decided somewhere along the way that she wanted to go kiss drag queens (not real sure where this came from...). As for our performance at Trivia Night? We got 71 of 90 questions right, thank you very much! The questions were hard though! I think we ended up coming in like 8th out of 35 teams-not too shabby! After Trivia Night, we went to Big Daddy's in Soulard because us girls decided we wanted to dance. And dance we did! I danced with a cute boy (Rick? Mike? I don't remember his name....I'm bad, I know) and Carrie kept trying to get us to kiss each other (she had some sort of obsession with kissing last night, I guess!). Did I end up kissing him? Well....I'm not tellin'!!!! :) After Big Daddy's we decided to go to The Complex. Carrie's dream of kissing a drag queen was closer and closer to coming true. There were sooooo many cute boys there....too bad they are all gay! :) Mikey-wish you had been there, there was some EYE CANDY goin on!!!! I tried to text you, but it wouldn't go through for some reason...speaking of texting, I think I have given up on Text Boy. I was irritated when he called me at 9:45pm on a friday night to go out (Uh....no), then I decided to give him one more chance, he wanted to hang out last night but I told him I had plans with my friends but that he could meet up with us. He told me to text him when I knew where we were going, so I did. His response? "I'm just gonna stay home". Ok, we're done Text Boy. We're done. What is wrong with men????? Wait, don't answer that.......ok, so that one was a bust. It's ok. At least I put myself out there, right? Newsflash single, straight boys-KD's on the prowl. But if you try to pull any kind of crap whatsoever, KD ain't having it. KD is in full-on biatch mode. Consider yourselves warned!!! (don't you love it when I try to act all hardcore? Did I pull it off? No? Ok.)

Well, I'm off to do some fun domestic things like laundry. Wish me luck. It's a long trip to the basement.

this is some b.s.

Ok, last Saturday, I was in a place where it was 85 degrees and sunny. Today? It's freakin' SNOWING! WTF? I got real scared driving down McCausland this afternoon-had to dodge the parade floats with giant leprechauns on them....scary! Happy St. Patricks Day everyone! Are you wearing your green? I have on a pin that says "I'm not Irish, but kiss me anyway". Think that'll get me some action???? Aunt Mary pointed out that, actually, I am Irish. I know I am, but the pin is funny. Tonight my peeps and I are going to Trivia Night. The kind of Trivia Night where you can drink. Carrie is making green sangria. I've got some Miller Lite just in case it's scary. We're all wearing matching green t-shirts that say "feelin' lucky" on them. Yea, we're dorks, but we have fun! I had a good lunch with the aunts and cousins today-next month's "lunch" is gonna be extra fun-we are having a baby shower for Jessica. Yay! Red and Jon-hope you had fun running in the snow this morning! :O

OMG, people make me laugh

The gall of some people, I swear! I have been thoroughly entertained by people this week, I must say. Names are being withheld to protect the not-so-innocent. People are just funny, that's all. That's all I have to say about that. Peace out people.

P.S. I must let you know that I got called "cute and petite" today. Granted, it was by a gay man, but I'll take it. I am a compliment whore.

P.P.S. Mikey Tinnin, I love you, just because! :)

Don't jump

I'm sorry to be so crude, but I have become totally disillusioned. Did y'all hear about the person that jumped off the JB bridge this morning? I mean, is everyone in the world depressed, suicidal and homicidal? Maybe it's because I work with the mentally ill and that is all I see, but I swear. Were people this bad off even 10 years ago? I just don't understand the state of the world anymore. Sorry for the public service announcement, but it had to be said. In the future, any time I feel down in the dumps (which is really rare nowadays, thank you very much), I will remind myself that I ain't got it so bad. Life is too short to be depressed!!!!!!!!

So, at least it's Friday. Work is slammed because we have a lot of people out, but that's ok, I like to be busy. Oh yea, so, I might be going out with a cute boy tonight. STOP THE PRESSES! Say it ain't so!!!! So, it's the boy that I mentioned previously, the one I wasn't sure about because he prefers to text message rather than talk. Well, he wanted to go out last night, but I was like "uh, I have to get up at 6am, how bout Friday". He is supposed to call me after work tonight. We'll see if that actually happens. I'm disillusioned, remember? I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. You can't be in a relationship unless you put yourself out there-so, I'm gonna be out there. Book Club decided last night that this is the Year of the Commitment. Either commit to a relationship or be committed. Considering I am aware of the mental health services available in this area, I really do not want to be committed, so.....guess I have to freakin' go out with cute boys. Man, life sucks.

Thursday, March 15, 2007

ok, so far today...

I've been told a million times how cute my shoes are. It's true, I can't lie, they are pretty darn cute. I was also told by one of my reviewers that he hates me. This is the same guy that also called me the Evil Managed Care Wench. We get along great, I swear. I also got an email from my grandpa (yes, grandpa is hip and happenin' and has email. He ROCKS!) warning me about the dangers of plastic in the microwave when cooking things. Thanks for the tip, grandpa. If I can't use plastic in the mircrowave and I don't cook, I guess my only alternative is to starve to death. Or eat at McDonald's everyday (SO not an option). I am so way sleepy today, but in a good mood. I can't wait to get home though, and will probably leave work in the next 45 minutes or so. All my work is done for the day because I rock. Book Club is tonight at 6. My friend Mike asked if this was the same book club I'm in that doesn't actually read books. It is indeed one in the same, however, we actually did read a book-or was that for last month? I don't know. But we have read exactly 1 book in the last, oh, two years or so.....big deal! I am hosting tonight which can only mean one thing-I must rush home and finish straightening up the apartment. Got to at least make it presentable. We are having Mom's Deli for dinner. Have you St. Louisans been there? It is right down the street from me but I have never gone. I hear it's great. We shall see. Man, I am totally rambling today. What's up with that? Let's see, what else can I talk about? I already mentioned Mike at least once (he checks daily to see if he's been mentioned......), I've talked about my day (which really hasn't been that exciting). Ok, I guess I'm done now. Thanks for reading. Suckers.

WHY is Shay Shay still on the show???

Seriously-listen up teenage girls. HE ISN'T THAT CUTE. Stop voting for him. He is the worst singer on American Idol and should not be there. Granted, Brandon needed to go, but it is clear that the only reason Sanjaya is still there is because the little teeny boppers are voting for him. STOP. That is my rant for the day.

Ugh, I am soooooooooo sleepy today. After getting home from work last night around 10:45pm (driving in what I swear was a flash flood-geez!), I realized I hadn't eaten dinner, so I grabbed a little something so my tummy wouldn't growl in my sleep (thank God for those 100 calorie packs!!!), then I tried to go to bed, but COULDN'T SLEEP!. I hate that. The alarm went off WAY too soon this morning and I awoke to a gray, icky day. And it's cold again. No kind of fun. At least I have my book club tonight and the weekend is fast approaching.

Does everyone have big exciting St. Patty's Day plans? Gonna drink some green beer? I will actually be drinking some green sangria, courtesy of my girl Carrie. We are doing a trivia night with, of course, a green theme. We are all wearing t-shirts that have a big shamrock on them that says "Feelin' Lucky". Nice, huh? We are dorks, I know.......Uncle Jimmy's country band is playing Saturday nite, not sure if I'll make it out there or not, I'd love to, but you never can tell how out of control Trivia Night is gonna be! :) :) :)

not lookin' good for Shay Shay......

Who's your pick to go home next on 'American Idol'?
Melinda Doolittle 0.6%
Stephanie Edwards 0.9%
Gina Glocksen 0.4%
LaKisha Jones 0.5%
Blake Lewis 0.6%
Sanjaya Malakar 76%
Chris Richardson 0.8%
Brandon Rogers 12%
Haley Scarnato 5.3%
Chris Sligh 1%
Jordin Sparks 0.4%
Phil Stacey 1.1%

dude, wtf?

Ok, I am soooo not diggin' this whole getting up before the sun does business. Not diggin' it at all. When my alarm went off this morning, I knew it had to be a mistake. But it wasn't.

So, I'm back at work-yippee! The person who covered my cases while I was gone was like "I am so glad you're back, your facilities suck". Apparently, while mommy (me) was away, the kids (my hospitals) got a little unruly. Well, news for them-I'm back to whip them back into shape. Poor bastards.

I'm back to my morning concoction of Slim-Fast and Diet Coke. Pre-vacation it seemed to be working for me. I was sooooo lazy yesterday. Sure, I did some grocery shopping (and bought myself a great new pair of shoes....), but overall, I didn't do much. I really should have cleaned my apartment given I am hosting book club tomorrow night and will not be home tonight since I will be working at the crisis line until 10.

I soooooo missed my Mikey while I was gone! And my Amy Henson. So glad to be back with my peeps! I mean, who else is gonna talk American Idol smack with me? Luv you guys!

KD's running commentary on American Idol

Ok, Melinda is awesome! I like that she is so down to earth and has no idea how good she is. Brandon is gonna end up singing on a cruise ship. Mark my words. I don't care what the judges say, I think Chris S. is good, even if his version of "Endless Love" was a little weird. Gina did ok-she can sing way better than she did tonight. Why is that Sanjaya, Shay Shay, whatever-his-name-is still on the show? I mean seriously??? I want to know.....I haven't been a big Haley fan, but she did pretty good tonight. She's still probably gonna end up singing on a cruise ship with Brandon though. I love Phil! Yes, he's kinda a tool, but he can sing. LaKisha is MY GIRL! Love her! Blake is adorable with a capital "A". It wasn't his best performance tonight, however. Stephanie was ok, nothing to write home about. I don't get the deal with Chris R. I just don't think he's that good or that cute. Just my opinion. Jordin is great-she is so cute and you totally forget that she is only 17. She did awesome tonight. Who should go home? Sanjaya (like three weeks ago) and Brandon. They were the worst. What does everyone else think?

Watch out for cacti on the highway. Seriously.

I'm BAAAAACK! Did ya miss me? I know you were dying without my crazy ramblings the last few days. I got back from Arizona last night. I so didn't want to leave-it was in the mid to upper 80's all week (although it is quite nice here in the STL-upper 70's? It's that damn global warming-Al Gore said so!). My Cubbies kicked some ass, winning both games we went to. Here's the lowdown on our Thelma and Louise inspired trip (according to Erin's supervisor, anyway).

We got into Phoenix late Wednesday afternoon without incident. Unless you count the guy on the plane that kept coughing and wheezing right behind us-he sounded like he was gonna die, or the a-hole who was in line in front of us at the rental car place. He was yelling at the staff about how ridiculous it was that we had to wait in line. He was an idiot. Erin and I scored the HOTTEST rental car......wait for it..........yes, for five days, we got to drive a gold Ford Focus. It was hot. Once we got settled in at the hotel (very nice, by the way), we went in search of dinner, found this great mexican place, Macayo's, where I proceeded to nearly die by drinking a margarita. Mind you, I only drank about a third of it. I started feeling flush like I was gonna faint, I went into the bathroom and sat on the floor because I wasn't sure if I was gonna throw up or pass out. It was quite unpleasant, to say the least. After that exciting adventure, we went back to the hotel for some much needed sleep.

Thursday, we strolled around Tempe and Scotsdale. Tempe is a college town so there were lots of shops and cool places to hang out. Scotsdale is more of an older crowd (ok, downright elderly...). They had a lot of great jewelry stores and western shops that were pretty cool. I decided I wanted to become a cowgirl. That is, until I saw that the pink cowboy boots I wanted were like $300. Scratch that idea. But I DID look cute in a cowboy hat....That night, we went to this place that our friend Carrie had heard about, Greasewood Flats. It's out in the desert in the middle of nowhere. There was a rooster, that's all I'm sayin'. It's this bar that apparently caters to bikers. You sit outside on picnic tables, each table had a pit to set a fire (which we were not very good at, and the bouncer kept coming by and laughing at us...). Erin and I met some very nice bikers (what's up Jamie and Bob?). They were awesome. I had myself some Miller Lite (very popular in Arizona).

Side note: What does everyone think of this....ok, so the weekend before last I met a cute guy at Gitto's and we exchanged numbers. On Wednesday, he sent me a text message. How do we feel about this? A text instead of a call? Give me your thoughts....Erin wasn't so fond of it and says he has already lost major points....

Anyway, on Friday, we went to HoHoKam Park in Mesa to see our Cubbies. We were about 7 rows from the field and nearly fried in the sun (not to mention nearly dying from getting hit in the head by foul balls! The guy sitting like 2 people from me got a ball). The Cubbie's looked good, y'all! They played the Padres and won 10-6. My boy, Aramis Ramirez hit a homerun (LOVE him!). Alfonso Soriano didn't do a whole lot, but it's still early. Derrek Lee looked good, so did Michael Barrett (I meant their playing looked good perverts. But come to think of it, they are both kinda hot....). Friday night we had a fabulous dinner at this brewery in Tempe. I had their heifeweisen (sp?). I didn't like it, but that's ok. We also got the priviledge of listening to some local preach on the streets (we were sitting outside). He had a microphone and a speaker and basically told us all we were going to hell. He was fun.

On Saturday, we drove to Tucson (about a two hour drive) to see Erin's aunt and uncle. They have the most gorgeous house (probably worth a couple mil). It was surrounded by the mountains. It felt like we were at a resort. We tried out the pool but it was absolutely freezing, so we nixed that idea....her aunt and uncle were so nice, and later, her other aunt and her two room mates came over. They are affectionately known as The Golden Girls (three women in their 60's living together). They were a RIOT! They are how I imagine my friends and I will be when we are that age. And my can those ladies drink!!!!! Erin's uncle made sure our glasses (or bottles-I was diggin the Corona light) were never empty. We stayed the night there, got up early on Sunday morning and headed back to HoHoKam for some more Cubbie's fun!

The Cubbies played the Brew Crew on Sunday (what up Mi-li-wau-kee???). We sat in the shade this time. The boys won 6-3. Yes, all you Cards fans are gonna be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous (this is said with MUCH sarcasm), because Erin and I got to see Jason Marquis pitch live. It's true. We are so awesome. He played 4 innings. Gave up 1 run and 6 hits. They brought in Kerry Wood after that (I was SO excited to see him play!). He did ok. I don't remember his stats. I was just so excited to see them play! I got a great new Cubs hat. It's navy blue and the "c" is pink. It has a little palm tree next to it and the back says "Spring Training, Mesa, Arizona" in pink. Too cute.

Monday was our travel day. Up bright and early to the realization that there was gonna be a two hour time difference once we got back home (Arizona does not do daylight savings time). Our flights were fairly uneventful-we had a brief layover in Dallas-literally brief, we got to the gate as our next plane was boarding. On the flight to Dallas we did have our slight brush with fame (I'm saying this sarcastically as well). All you American Idol fans may remember Josh Gracin. Country singer, was in the Marines? Well....his BAND was on the plane with us. Isn't that cool? Uh.......yea. On the tram to get to our next plane, one of the guys looked at me and asked if I was a Cubs fan (I had my hat on). I thought about being a biatch and saying "no", but I didn't. This then sparked a mini-conversation about Erin and I being Cubs fans in St. Louis.

I finally got back to my apartment around 7:30. I was exhausted. I had 121 emails to sort through (it hurts to be this popular, it really does). I got a little bit of color to me now, I'm nice and relaxed but ready to get back to work. It was a much needed vacation and I was able to get some much needed sleep while I was there! The desert air is so relaxing, I love it and would move there in a heartbeat if all my family wasn't in Missouri!

Now back to life. Gotta get my taxes done this week, go back to work on Wednesday (both jobs). I have book club on Thursday. Saturday we are doing a trivia night. ALWAYS fun-what could be better than getting to prove what a smarty pants you are AND drinking at the same time? LOVE it. I'll be at the fam girls lunch on Saturday too.

As for the title of this post? Yes, while driving, we heard a traffic report on the radio warning drivers of a cactus that was in the middle of the road on I-10 (not something you hear in Missouri). I also saw a for real tumbleweed cross the highway, I did not bring it back to Mo for my mom like I promised-the speed limit in AZ is 75 mph-I was going way too fast to catch it! Maybe next year-because we WILL be back!

Happy Birthday Will!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it's tomorrow, but I wanted to wish my friend Will a very happy birthday! I luv ya and miss ya much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A public apology to my people-there will be no blogging until next week....please don't cry

Ok, thanks to Mike I have "What Goes Around, Comes Around" in my head.....thanks a lot Mikey Poo!

So, Erin and I leave in the morning for Phoenix, I am so excited! Erin's boss, Reggie, is calling us Thelma and Louise. He says I have to be Thelma because she's the ditzy one.....wait........what???? Am I ditzy? Don't answer that.......I told him that if we pick up Brad Pitt we ain't comin' back!!!!

Can I tell you how stressed I was about packing for a different climate? I had to bring out the big suitcase because I just couldn't narrow down the number of shoes I wanted to take. I NEED THEM PEOPLE! So, I repacked last night. I hope I have everything. Guess we'll see.

So, I'm working a few hours at the crisis line tonight. One las shift before I leave for a week.

Brace yourselves-there will be no blogging until I get back next week. I know you'll miss it. But I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun stories when I get back! Erin and I out on the prowl in a strange city??? Yep.........I'll have stories!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VAL!!!!!!!

Today is my girl Val's birthday-Have a good one! We will definitely have to celebrate when Erin and I get back from Phoenix-----perhaps during our St. Pat's Day trivia night/drink fest??????

skinny jeans makes a girl happy

OMG, we are swamped at work today. But it's ok-I'm feeling good. I got my skinny jeans back on today. All is right with the world when I fit into my skinny jeans. All that Slim Fast is paying off, I guess! That and my new obsession with stomach crunches. I really have become obsessed. I have to do them everyday, no matter what. I'm starting to get results, which motivates me further. Looks like good timing since I will probably be in a swimsuit this week-did you see the temps for Phoenix? We're talking in the 90's people! That's hot (literally). Erin-we are going to that cave fo' sho (60 degrees year round, dontcha know...).

I talked to my friend Eric last night on the phone for the first time in over a year. Yes, I was a horrible friend and I have since apologized to him, but it doesn't make it right. Anyway, we chatted for like an hour and a half last night, it was just like old times. Along with Robyn, Lizzard and Stormy, Eric is one of my oldest friends-goin all the way back to 9th grade (that was roughly SEVENTEEN years ago, if you're counting.....holy crap). It was really good to talk to him again and reconnect. I am trying to get back to the way things were pre-November of 2005. Talking with old friends, going to Spring Training-that is stuff KD used to do and is now doing again. KD is in a really good place right now, in case you cared. I mean, after all, I still fit into my skinny jeans. How could life get any better than that?

Can you say "hot"?????? Yikes................

Crap just keeps happening

I just heard that my favoritest teacher in the whole wide world, Mrs. Sullivan, has breast cancer. It has spread to her lymph nodes, which I know is not good. She is having surgery today. Please pray for her, even if you don't know her. Mrs. Sullivan was my 3rd grade teacher. She was the best. She always encouraged me and told me how smart and capable I was. I rocked the multiplication tables race in 3rd grade thanks to her (ironically, that was the last time I was good at math....). She would always write on my report cards: "Kerri is an excellent student but tends to socialize a bit too much". What?????? Me??????? No way....she is awesome though. I would definitely consider her one of my heroes-she is a great teacher who really helps instill self-esteem and confidence in a child. She is one of the good guys. I still see her periodically when I'm in Salem and she always asks how I'm doing and what I'm up to and still tells me how proud of me she is. She is such a great lady, I just hope and pray that the surgery works and she is well on the road to recovery. I'm thinking of you, Mrs. Sullivan!!!!!!!!!

is it morning already?

Yikes, I think I'm too old to be getting to bed at 3am....I still wake up at my normal time in the morning...not good. So, today is packing day. For my trip. I am so unorganized, I've had to make myself a list so I don't forget anything. I have to remember, it's gonna be 80 degrees where I'm going, so this affects what I pack...I found the ear buds to my iPod, thank God. When you are flying to Phoenix via Dallas, you know you are in for a long day. We leave St. Louis at 11:40am and won't be in Phoenix until around 5:00pm-Mountain time. Looooong day. So, I've got my iPod, a couple of books, some magazines and my prescription strength drammamine...I'm ready! Erin, got your Cubs stuff ready? I pulled all mine out, I'm ready to roll! I seriously don't know how or what to pack. Right now, there are about 300 articles of clothing on my bed. How many suitcases does the FAA let you bring???????

impromtu happy hour....or hours, whatever

Fairly uneventful day. I was really, really hyper today. Must have been the dark chocolate M&M's mixed with Diet Coke....I think at this point, I am just gonna give the church my entire paycheck. The bad words just keep coming out of my mouth. I can't control it. I need help. I think I'm up to $13 for the church now. Maybe Atonement will dedicate a new wing to me since I will be single-handedly funding it.....

So excited-we leave for Phoenix on Wednesday. I can't wait. I really wanna get out of here, not have to work for a week and just relax. Oh yea, and I get to see my Cubs!!!!! We are going to two Spring Training games-we're gonna see them play the Brewers and the Padres. We're staying in downtown Phoenix, so I'm sure we'll do plenty of going out at night.....and flirting with cute boys, of course! You know I'm a sucker for cute boys....It is supposed to be in the '80's next week in Phoenix, this means I gotta dig out my summery clothes. I sure hope they still fit.......

So at about 3:30 this afternoon I decided I wanted to go out tonight. My friend Sarah must have been thinking the same thing because she emailed me and said "I want a beer". Thus, we went out and drank some beer. And then we drank some more......and some more....somehow, we ended up at Gitto's (you KNOW that's my favorite place!) with these two guys that followed us there from the first bar we were at. Ok, I'm not trying to be a biatch here, but I was SO not feelin' the guy I was apparently paired up with. He was nice and all, but, uh....no. Broker-words can't even explain. They can't even explain. Need a Tums??????? I did meet a really nice guy. We'll call him R. We sat and talked for a long time and really kinda hit it off (and he loves karaoke-except he's actually good....). Yes, folks, write it down............we exchanged numbers. Isn't that exciting? I actually really hope he calls. I was kinda diggin' him (and that was not the alcohol talking, I had stopped drinking way, way earlier in the night). So, I guess we'll see, huh? He has a Harley-that's all I'm saying....I know, I know, but he's a biker that also drives an Infinity.....and is a general manager at a local restaurant. And he's nice. And really, of all the things, the fact that he's nice is what I like the most.......so we shall see! Ol' KD is back in the game, baby! :)

coyotes and tumbleweeds

This is why I love my mother. Here is a sample of an email conversation my mom and I had today. It had me laughing out loud, seriously. It started with me confirming that my parents did not die in a tornado this morning and that I was glad I would not have to deal with this crazy weather when I go to Phoenix next week. Then...........

MOM: Yeah – but you could have a sand storm
ME: don't tell me that!!!! :) i could get heat stroke too...or a sunburn....the possiblities are endless......
MOM: And don’t forget the tumbleweeds. They can kill you!
ME: yep, hit ya right upside the head. terribly dangerous.
MOM: Do not underestimate the power of the tumbleweed my friend.

Mom then tells me she is proud of me even though I'm a Cubs fan....
ME: thanks for loving me even if i am a cubs fan. thats very big of you. i'm gonna bring you a souvenir tumbleweed......
MOM: I hope you do. I promise to take very good care of it. I may even name it!
ME: i suggest naming it Sid.
MOM: I’m kinda partial to Lou
ME: Lou it is. i want to get some fish and name them sid and nancy.....
MOM: Well you won’t be getting them in Phoenix. They have become extinct there from – you guessed it – tumbleweeds. Very, very sad. What’s next – coyotes?
ME: did u just say that u want a pet coyote? well, i'll see what i can do but i'm pretty sure the FAA will not allow a coyote on an airplane......
MOM: Darn – that’s just my luck L Actually I was referring to the tumbleweeds doing in the Arizona coyotes. Hey – it could happen.
ME: just how big ARE these tumbleweeds anyway???? i'm scared....
MOM: You just don’t want to know.

Clearly, we are insane. Oh, by the way, I now owe the church $9. Make that $11. God is laughing at me.

I LOVE SUNDANCE!!!!!

Ok, I now owe the church $7. I couldn't help it-this stupid girl cut me off in traffic today-the bad word just came out-I couldn't control it!!!!! This is a true Lenten challenge for ol' KD....

American Idol-I thought the guys did pretty good tonight. Sundance rocked my world-loved it!!!! LOVE that beat box kid too! I think he's adorable (Mike loves him too, don't you Mike???). Jared is hot-I'm voting for him based on that...oh, wait-it's not Hottie Idol? My bad. The guy that did "Geek In The Pink" was really good-I'm sure he'll make the top 12. Who wants to bet that Sanjaya goes home this week? He was definitely the worst one this week. Would it be lame to watch American Idol next week while I'm on vacation? You know, from the hotel in Phoenix? Yea.......it probably would, wouldn't it?

OMG-did anyone watch Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? Wow....I would have failed at that show for sure! Those questions are hard! No adult retains any of that....I'm sure when I was in 5th grade I knew the answer to some of that stuff.....or not.

does it count?

For my Quest To Not Curse For Lent, does it count if I curse in my dreams? I was totally having some wacked out dreams last night (must be the crack) and I distinctly remember cursing in one of them. I don't think it should count. You can't control what you dream, people!!!!! Thoughts? Comments? Concerns about my sanity?

OMG-I am gonna go on a homicidal rampage if the person who is playing music in the office doesn't freakin STOP! Luckily, Mikey-poo went over and investigated for me and got the person to turn it down. It was waaaaaaaaaay annoying.....thanks Mike!!!! I really didn't want to have to kill anyone today...just don't have the energy.

Tonight is my only night I am not working this week. I plan to fully take advantage by putting my jammies on as soon as I get home, watching American Idol then probably going to bed. My alarm has gone off two days in a row-my alarm NEVER goes off, I always wake up before it does. So, you know I am exhausted if it actually goes off.

And I want to publicly hate on Amy for abandoning me today. She knows what I'm talking about.

my blog sucks

I want to apologize to all my fans (don't laugh-you know you're out there!!!). My blog has really sucked lately. I can't formulate one funny/sarcastic or even intelligent thought. I just can't do it anymore. I think it may be because I am ALWAYS TIRED. Yep-that's it. Now, don't worry, I am not on the verge of a Mariah Carey/Britney Spears-like breakdown. I will not be shaving my head. Or going to rehab. Yet. I know I took on the responsibility of working two jobs (it is financially necessary, unfortunately for me) and must face the consequences and really have no right to complain. That being said.....I'M TIRED. Did I mention that? As I sit here at 10:45pm on a Monday night. I just got home after a 13 hour work day. I am actually going to be putting in 65 hours this week. Can't wait to see what kind of mood I'll be in by Sunday...yes, I'm a little cranky. Today, my friend Amy said she loves it when I'm b**chy (can't even write the bad word-it'll cost me a dollar and I'm already down $5) because it makes her look nice. Glad I could help Aim, glad I could help. I'd blame my crankiness on PMS (that is part of it), but thats not the real cause. I really hope my blog will get back to it's fun, sarcastic self sometime soon because I miss it. I don't even entertain myself anymore. Did I mention I have a headache? And that I'm tired? I am so tired, in fact, that I barely have the energy to lift and/or eat this cracker I have in front of me. Too tired to eat???? That's crazy talk! But it's true. It's ok though, I was having an I Feel Fat Day anyway......Ok, as tired as I am, I am wired. It's almost 11pm, I have to be up at 6:30am, and I am nowhere near ready to go to bed. Must relax. I can tell I'm stressed because my shoulder hurts-that's always my sign-weird, huh?

The good news in all of this is........IM GOING ON VACATION IN A WEEK!!!! Yes, March 7 I'll be leaving for sunny Phoenix, where early weather predictions are calling for temps in the low '80's....uh, yea, I think I can handle that.....

'nuff said

yep, the church is gonna get rich off of me....

Ok, Lent just began and I already owe the church $4 (and counting). Yikes. It's gonna be a long (and expensive) 40 days...I can't help it, the bad words just come out-especially when driving...if people would stop driving like idiots then I wouldn't have to call them names. It's their own fault really....
Here are some pics from Heidi's shower. Aren't we cute?me and ReneeMiss Heidi The Prego

Oh, I failed to share a story with y'all. It is patented KD, you'll love it. So, yesterday I was cleaning my apartment because my sister and Chloe were coming over, and I was throwing something in the closet when (and I have no idea how or why) the closet door came back at me and knocked me right in the head. I was dazed for a minute and even had to sit down. I think I saw stars. I figured it wasn't good to give yourself a concussion when you're home alone...so I prayed I didn't lose consciousness or anything like that. I didn't-in case you were wondering. So today I have a nice bump on the ol' noggin. And it frickin' hurts. I am my own worst enemy, I swear.

I got to see my brother for a minute yesterday. He and four of his buddies were in town to get fitted for tuxes for his friend's wedding (never mind that my darling brother is also in my cousin Ben's wedding-ON THE SAME DAY!). I met up with them for lunch-now thats love, driving all the way to Chesterfield in the rain, just to see my baby brother. I do love that little rug rat...

Didn't make it out to see Ivory Tiger last night (good thing as I hear there were like 8 bar fights-SOOOO not into bar fights...). Maybe next time! I had movie night in with my sis and Miss Chloe who just loved being at Aunt Kerri's house! She only barked once-which I'm sure my neighbors appreciated. She stood guard at the door every time she heard one of my neighbors come home. Such a good watch dog!

Woo hoo! Ya'll I'm on MySpace now. Ok, I think MySpace is the devil and should be stopped, but I got on it because my brother and my cousins are on it. So now I officially have 3 friends. I am sooooooooooooo cool. Have I mentioned that I hate MySpace?

Lent

Ok, for Lent I am giving up saying bad words....even on the blog. Yes, this may be a challenge, but I think I can do it, and if I can't? I will be setting aside a dollar for each curse word I say in the next 40 days-then that money will go to my church. Atonement is about to get rich on good ol' KD's dime......so, if you catch me saying a bad word-call me on it (from now till Easter....).

Wil this cold ever go away? I mean seriously? After feeling somewhat better yesterday, today I woke up with a sore throat and in order to purposely gross you out let me tell you about how the stuff coming out of my nose is illegal in like, 6 states. It's bad. Sounds sexy, huh?

It is an icky, cold, rainy Saturday here in the STL. Ok, I don't really know if it's cold since I haven't been outside, but it is February, so I'm just guessing....I'm hoping to see my brother and sister at some point today. I miss them. Especially that little turd of a brother I have (and no, turd is not a curse word, I looked it up)-I haven't seen him in a while. I miss my sister too-we really should see each other more often sister!

Ok, I'll quit rambling. I gotta go do some grocery shopping. In the rain. Yippee.

PS-I leave for Phoenix in less than 2 weeks! YAY! GO CUBS!

back in the land of the living

Ugh. I made it to work today but I am still not feeling too great. Yesterday I called in sick to work and proceeded to sleep FIFTEEN hours....in a row. Then I later took an hour and a half nap and was still in bed by 9pm. Today I am at least functioning, but still kinda out of it. I can't take any medicine during the day because even day time stuff makes me drowsy.

I'll be attending the wake for Laura tonight, after that, it's bedtime for me. Rumor has it my brother is going to be in town tomorrow (this has been neither confirmed nor denied), and the plan was to go see Ivory Tiger....we'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow.

Other than that, not too exciting of a weekend planned. I work at the crisis line on Sunday and then like four days next week-yea, I know, glutton for punishment....

meet Sicky Sickerson

That would be me. I left work at 2:30 today, got home at 3:00, was asleep probably 15 minutes later, woke up at 6:30, decided maybe I'd eat, call home and watch American Idol, and now it's 9:00 and I'm about to go back to bed. Yes, something is kicking my ass. Hardcore.

I did want to comment on American Idol for a moment. I think LaKesha is the one to beat. Anyone agree? There were 3 or 4 girls that were really, really good. I didn't get to see the guys last night because I was working, but from the clips I've heard, the girls were waaaaay better. Any other American Idol junkies out there? Who is your pick?

Ok, this stuffy nosed-bags under her eyes-coughing-aching-lightheaded girl is going to bed. Good night all and may you too fall asleep with the help of Nyquil.....

oh my

I feel like crap. I almost fainted in my shower this morning-literally. I had the nausea, ears ringing and everything going black. I had to sit down in the bathtub. I figured fainting would not be a good thing since I was there alone-what if I hit my head on something? I'm all congested, my head hurts like a mo-fo. I can barely turn my head. My eyeballs even hurt. I'm running a low grade fever. I have no business being at work today, that's for sure. The only reason I came in is because one of my hospital reviewers from Kansas City is coming into town today so he could meet everyone. We were supposed to do a happy hour tonight, but I really don't see that happening. I am sicker than I have been in years. I need my bed. And some Nyquil.

prayers needed

Just requesting prayers and thoughts for my friend Krista and her husband Scott. Scott's sister Laura passed away this morning after a long, long struggle with a traumatic brain injury. Laura had been in a coma for quite some time. It is really sad, but the family is doing well, given the circumstances. I'm thinking of you guys!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STORMY!

Happy Birthday to my friend Stormy who gets to be 31 like the rest of us today! Yay for you girl! Hope you have a great birthday, we really must get together soon. Maybe I should take a road trip to Warrensburg/Kansas City!

I finally saw Heidi's belly button

Darn her! She finally conned me into looking at her belly button. My attempts to resist proved to be futile. And Heidi, for the record-it does not look bad!!!! Heidi's baby shower was yesterday. It was fun (you know, baby shower fun). We played a game where we had to match up the celebrity baby names with their parents. I am very, very sad to say that I got all of them right....clearly I need to get a life. The freakiest part was when Heidi's husband John called in and we all got to see/talk to him via the web cam. It was just kinda weird because we passed the laptop around the room so everyone could say hi to him, then his sister goes "ok, I'm gonna take you back to dad now" and carries off the laptop. Guess you had to be there.

So, yet another work week begins. I am working both jobs tonight and tomorrow night (fun) and have a work related Happy Hour on Wednesday. That should be entertaining. This weekend is Ivory Tiger in Portage Des Sioux-I am sooooo there! Can't wait.

Well, here's to a good week. Later people.

I'm Too Old for Mardi Gras: The True Story of a Drunk Girl

Yikes. Mardi Gras is rough, man! Oh, I had fun, don't get me wrong, but there is just something not right about being intoxicated at like 3 in the afternoon (I think at one point I even said "OMG, it's not even dark yet!"). Yesterday was fun alright (and before anyone freaks out, we DID have a designated driver-my friend Carrie was sick, so she carted us all around in the family mini van-nice, huh?).

The day started with lunch with the aunts, my sis and a couple of my cousins. That was fun, especially when I banged my head on the light fixture (you know a light is hanging down too low when a girl that is only 5'2" is hitting her head on it....). Anyway, after that, I hightailed it over to Erin's new house, got there around 2:20pm and seriously had a good buzz on by 3:00 (can you tell I really don't drink much-no seriously, I really don't....). Two drinks and I was ready to go! Carrie dumped our stupid asses off at Broadway Oyster Bar and the fun began. Us gals were drinking buckets of hurricanes (literally, they were purple buckets, with a handle and everything!), I think we all did a Jaeger shot (disgusting, by the way) and basically just sat up at the bar and drank (my friends John and Val knew the bartenders so we basically drank for free-nice, huh?). We saw Beatle Bob there! Does everyone know who I'm talking about? If you are in St. Louis, you have probably heard of, or seen, Beatle Bob. He is usually dressed in some brightly colored leisure suit and has a Beatles bowl haircut. He is at most local festivities. He's a semi local celebrity, I guess. Anyway, it was funny....I can't wait till we get the pictures developed....We hung out in the tent as well and hung out with a group of Hell's Angels (for real, they were), they were very nice and some good times. Apparently, at one point I called my friend Renee and left her a drunken voicemail (which today she informed me she listened to on speaker phone with some friends of hers and laughed at me....). We then decided our time there was over and we proceeded to go to the Tin Can...LOVE it! That was fun. Erin and I met a group of really cute guys...the one guy was like "you are both really cute, but you have to stop telling people you're Cubs fans, it could be a deal breaker". Oh, is that all I have to do? Noted. The Tin Can was fun too. Boogie fell backwards out of his chair, Carrie braided all the girls hair and we drank beer in a can. What was funny was that at this point, it was only like 8 or 9pm, it felt much, much later than that.....at some point we decided it would be a good idea to go sing some karaoke, so off to Gitto's we went. Karaoke Rick was in the house (if anyone listens to the Craig Cornett Morning Radio Show on 93.7 the Bull, you know who Karaoke Rick is), Boogie and I sang the classic "My Humps". Boogie didn't know the words, so I had to sing the boy and girl parts...I'm sure it was hot. After that, we just danced and laughed and listened to crappy karaoke all night. It was so much fun, and although I didn't wake up until 10am today, I don't feel hung over.

I'm going to my girl Heidi's baby shower this afternoon. I made her promise we wouldn't play any games in which one would have to taste baby food....she better make good on her promise.....

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

Ok, so technically, Mardi Gras isn't until Tuesday, but the Annual St. Louis Mardi Gras Celebration is today. I am soooooo not going to the parade. Did that one year with my friend John (yes, Heidi's hubby). Let me tell you, being drunk off jello shots at 9am is not at all pleasant...anyway, I find it kinda funny that Mardi Gras is such a big party. Because, really it is the start of a really important time in the Catholic, and in my case, Lutheran, church. The day after is Ash Wednesday (which I will be missing church this year, by the way, have to go to a work related happy hour...I know, I know....) then Good Friday then Lent officially begins for the next 40 days until Easter. Maybe Mardi Gras is a party because the Lenten time is about self sacrifice and a kind of calm reflection....ok, enough of my religious rants....LET'S PARTY!

First of all, why in the hell am I awake right now? It is 8am on a Saturday. I've actually been awake since around 6:30, which is near the time I get up during the week. Guess my body just can't sleep in anymore. Anyway, I guess I am feeling ok. Still have some goo in my nose (pleasant, I know) and a bit of a scratchy throat, but I think I'm gonna make it and will be ready to party with my peeps this afternoon. Yes, it's snowing outside (not as much as they said though) and it's really cold (but isn't it sad that lately, 30 degrees sounds warm to us???), but I'm sure there will still be thousands upon thousands of people out today. Yippee. My crew and I are going to a place where we can party and have fun....but still be indoors. Ingenious, I tell you! First I will be having lunch with my sis, my aunts and my cousins, then it's off to Ern's for a mini house warming party, since she officially moved into her new house last week (yay Ern!).

If you are going out for Mardi Gras, please be careful! Don't flash too many people, ok? You may end up on the internet somewhere, and no one wants that....

Salmonella enteritidis precautions

Ok, so, apparently the way to test for salmonella is with a stool sample. I will have you know that I provided my dear friend Mike with a little plastic baggie yesterday with which to collect his stool sample. I am a good friend.

You can learn more at www.salmonella.org in case you are bored today....

No Mardi Gras?

I LOVE Mardi Gras. Everyone who knows me knows that. However, I am not sure I'm gonna make it. The idea of standing outside in the snow and freezing temperatures just isn't appealing to me. Call me old and cranky, but it's just not. I believe we are coming up with alternative plans, however. As long as I can get outta bed (still feeling on the verge of developing some major illness) tomorrow, I will be celebrating, some way, somehow! I am such a trooper......all in the name of drinking and partying.....right now I have this weird I-don't-feel-good-but-I'm-high-on-cappucino feeling. I'm not sure what to do about it.

Ok, so now I believe the salmonella outbreak has spread throughout my team at work. Yesterday, Mike disclosed that he, himself, owned the dreaded Peter Pan peanut butter (I believe in fairies...). Today, my co-worker Julie disclosed that she, too, owned the tainted peanut butter, so we now have our very own outbreak at UBH. Red-I think you need to come and investigate....STAT.

Having lunch with all the female members of the family tomorrow, that'll be fun. Then on Sunday is my girl Heidi's baby shower. I swear to God Heidi, if you make me look at your belly button, I am soooooooo outta there! :)

It can only mean one thing....

I haven't blogged all day long. That can only mean one thing-I'M SICK. I feel like crap on a stick. I think I caught Mike's salmonella poisoning (you are such a hypochondriac, Tinnin! have you heard about the salmonella outbreak with the Peter Pan peanut butter? Mike has some at home so he is convinced he has been stricken with salmonella). I hurt. I'm freezing. I'm sneezing (that rhymes). I ache. I want to go to bed. I'm skipping out on happy hour tonight (and you KNOW how much I love myself some happy hour....). Erin told me I have to get better because there is no way I am missing Mardi Gras...I'm gonna do my best, hopefully I'll be back up and running by Saturday!

Happy Single's Awareness Day!!!

It's Single's Awareness Day, according to my friend Mike. Or it's I Don't Have A Boyfriend But That's Ok Day. Take your pick. I heard the most romantic Valentine's Day song on the radio this morning...."Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot. Nice, huh?

Flashback to Valentine's Day 2006 (sorry J, but I feel compelled to tell the story....). KD ends up with a dislocated ankle as the result of a wrestling mishap. I never knew a bone could make that loud of a popping sound.......but it can. You see, J and I were just killing time while dinner cooked (yes, I cooked, it was a roast and it was really good, thank you very much), and were wrestling (I mean, what else would you be doing while you're waiting for dinner to cook???). It was fun, that is until we heard "POP", and J says "Uh, was that your ankle?". Oh yes, it was. I didn't feel any pain at first (because it was numb), but by the next morning, I couldn't walk and ended up at Urgent Care. Let me tell you how unpleasant it is to have your ankle popped back into place...I said some really, really bad words, scored some Vicodin and made J take care of me (I milked it for all it was worth). Wasn't that a fun story?

This Valentine's Day I will be spending at the crisis line. Romantic, I know. I guess you don't have to be IN love to celebrate Valentine's Day. So, to all those I love (friends and family)-Happy Valentine's Day and Bah Humbug.

this is a crock of crap

Uh, ok, they just announced that they are closing our office for the day, effective at 1pm due to the massive amount of snow on the ground. Sounds great, right? Yea, well not for me and Amy since today is our late night (where we have to stay and give all the decisions from the peer reviews), so WE will be stuck here until at least 5:00.....SOOOOOOOOOOOO unfair. I just wanted to whine for a minute. Thanks for listening.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

The title is a quote from the song that my co-worker Alex sings to me when I walk in the door at the crisis line (dude, I told you that if you read this blog, you are likely to become a subject of it. It's just the way it works.....sorry).

Anyway, people are freaking out, once again, about the weather. Now, to be fair, there was not a bit of snow on the ground when I got to work at 8:30. It is now just before 10:00 and the snow plows are out and the ground is totally covered. I'm hearing we are supposed to be getting an inch an hour. My question is-FOR HOW MANY HOURS? This could be problematic....and more importantly, I hope my 12-pack of Diet Coke doesn't freeze and explode in my car. That would suck. Trust me, I know. It's happened before, and I had Diet Coke slush all over my trunk. Not so much fun to clean up, believe you me.

I swear I didn't do it

Birthday pics! I actually got over 50 sent to me, but censored them...not that they were bad, I was really just avoiding the ones where I looked fat....Here we are doing Jaeger-bomb shots...
American Idol, here I come! We were really belting out the "I Will Survive". Several folks said it sounded good...think they were just saying that???
Uh, yea.....this is one to be proud of....
Hi Random! This is the dude that stopped talking to me once he discovered I was a Cubs fan.....I think his name was Ryan. It never would have worked out...he's wearing a velvet jacket for God's sake.....
MJ, Me and Denise. Very cute picture.
This is the guy that was also celebrating his birthday. Bob, was it? I don't remember. Anyway, I apparently posed for a picture with him.....hey, he's kinda cute.....
Me and MJ cuttin' a rug....check out the chick behind us in the dress and jeans.....she was a FREAK!
I don't know who the crazy girl with the boa is. She just got up and started singing with us....I really didn't want to share the spotlight with her, but whatever.....
Me, Denise and Aimee. Too cute! The lei's are from the Jaeger Girls....I "accidentally" left mine at the bar...

Oh Sleepless Night...(sung to the tune of "Oh Holy Night")

I so did not sleep last night. And now I feel like crap. I remember falling asleep somewhere around midnight and woke up at 3:30am and decided I was thirsty. Why, I don't know. I then proceeded to toss and turn until my alarm went off at 6. My lack of sleep may have had something to do with the near gallon of green tea I drank yesterday...I thought it didn't have caffeine in it, but apparently it does. Who knew? Obviously not me.

Well, I have a very exciting night of working at the crisis line ahead of me. Don't be jealous. Canada, I finished your application for the Most Beautiful Person In The World. Results should be out soon, I'll keep you posted.

Over It

Thanks so much Heidi for making me a copy of the Katharine McPhee CD. I really like it, and I am totally diggin' her song "Over It". In fact, I placed the copy of the lyrics Heidi gave me on my fridge.

Worked at the crisis line tonight. It was fairly uneventful. Kinda busy. I didn't have time to do my crossword puzzle and that upset me greatly.....watched the Grammy's when I got home. I was able to catch Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood (which is really all I wanted to see anyway).

Hey, does anyone want to go see Keith Urban when he comes to town in June? Let me know, I am definitely interested in going.

Well, another week begins. Yahoo, I am working two shifts at the crisis line this week, I have book club happy hour on Thursday then the weekend is...........MARDI GRAS! I love it. Missed it last year but not this year! Woo hoo! And, no, I will not be flashing anyone.....

Hockey Night In Canada

Isn't is always hockey night in Canada? Just a thought.....anyway, I got to talk to my dear friend Canada tonight-yay! I'm so happy you called! Isn't it weird that we can talk for like two hours and it seems like five minutes? It's some good times! Thanks for the birthday wishes and confirming that I am indeed an old, old woman. It's good to know I have friends I can count on to make me feel better about it..... :)

That was really the highlight of my day. The rest was spent running errands, contemplating showering and getting out of bed, and reading. Actually, it hasn't been that bad of a day. I'm now thinking of going to bed-who cares that it is only 10pm on a Saturday night.....tomorrow is church and working at the crisis line for five hours. Pretty exciting stuff. I rock.

P.S. Canada, I'd like you to know that I am going to nominate you for People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People this year....I think you have a good chance of making it. That is, if Beautiful Canadians are eligible....

Happy Birthday LC!

Just a quick happy birthday to my girl Laura. She is the 3rd of the February birthday trio...Have a good one girlie!

KD and Jaeger-bombs: not a good combo.....

Oh my. Got a bit of a headache this morning. Must have been the shots last night (damn you, girls!). For all y'all that pooped out on us, you missed some fun. Karaoke night at Gitto's was some good times, and you missed your opportunity to hear me sing (I know, it is something you have all wished for.....). Denise and I did "I Will Survive" and "Summer Nights" (two karaoke must-haves....). It was hot.

The evening started with dinner at Stir Crazy-I love that place! Thanks to everyone that made it out to dinner-I had so much fun and it made me so happy to have so many of my friends with me! After dinner, we were gonna make a side trip to a local tattoo place (don't worry mom-I did not get another tattoo...), but it was closing early, so the only plan that made sense was to head out to Gitto's! Apparently my friends thought shots for the birthday girl was a good idea. I recall one I believe was called brass balls, and I did a peppermint schnapps shot (thanks Grandpa for getting me started on that one!) and then, I did my very first Jaeger-bomb. I always refused to do them because I don't like the taste of licorice, which is what Jaeger tastes like. Well, the Jaeger-bomb kinda tastes like a sweet-tart.....in other words....I LIKED IT!

I also loved having guys flirt with me and buy me drinks and dance with me and call me beautiful (I don't know about you, but I don't get called that every day....). I mean, sure, we were in a bar, all drinking, but still, I'll take a compliment anywhere I can get it. Oh, and I got my ass grabbed twice-hey, I'll take it.....I met a very nice guy named Matt (I believe there are pictures of me with him floating around somewhere...you may see it here in the near future...) and another guy named Ryan (who stopped speaking to me after it was announced that I was a Cubs fan.....can't say I blame him). And there was another birthday person-Bob, who was too cute and I danced with him to the song "Crazy Bitch". Nice, I know. Then there was Bob's cousin, I think his name was Dan, he kept asking us to go back to his house so we could all have a "dance off"....uh, is that what they are calling it nowadays? I'm happy to report I went home alone....it was just fun for me to be out there, ya know? Flirting with boys is what I do best.....and I really hadn't been feeling like flirting for the last few months-but I think I'm ready now! Watch out! :)

The best part is that no one believed I was 31. I think they were all genuinely shocked which made me feel good. Although one guy said "I mean, 31 is old, but you don't look it". Uh, gee....thanks. Yea, he was 26. Hello, cradle robber......

So, overall, it was a great birthday. Thanks so much to everyone who helped me celebrate, and celebrate, and celebrate, and celebrate......

Birthday fun

I had such a good day today! Work was so much freakin' fun, I couldn't hardly stand it. I think we were all a little buzzed on our sugar highs.....I almost wet my pants (for real) when our Clinical Director (this man has a PhD, mind you) decided to prank call one of our triage people. He made the call (we chose a former crisis line employee as his victim....shame on us) and, um, acted like he was mentally retarded, complete with some unintelligible speech....sick and wrong, I know, but nonetheless-HILARIOUS! We just stood outside his office laughing, with my co-worker Jeff yelling "get off the phone so I can beat your ass"....yes, the folks I work with are sick and twisted....and I LOVE it! I think my birthday was fun for everyone today! Yay!

Can't wait to see how tonight goes.....
