I swear, crazy people follow me everywhere

First there was yesterday's incident at the gas station. Then there was last night's incident at Schnucks. I had to go to Schnucks after Job #2 last night because we are having a food day today for my boss Karen's birthday (uh, didn't we just have a food day? I'm sure y'all recall the cheese dip incident from last week...). I was in charge of purchasing the card (A big challenge. There are only so many "from all of us" cards to go around, ya know). So, I went to checkout and went to the 20 Items or Less checkout lane. Now, y'all have seen this lane, does it not clearly state "20 Items or Less"? I was just minding my own business, chatting with the checker (and yes, I did have less than 20 items), when this woman and her kid came up behind me with a FULL CART of groceries. The checker very politely advised her that this was a 20 items or less lane-and the woman went BALLISTIC. I mean, going off on this poor girl, screaming "that's ridiculous, there is no one else in line here, now I'm going to have to wait in line for 10 minutes", she continued to rant and rave, left for a bit to go stand in the "long" line (there were like two whole people in front of her), then came back and demanded to speak to the poor girls manager, saying she wanted to file an official complaint. I just looked at this crazy woman like she had four heads. DUDE-it's a 20 items or less lane!! You had like 100 items. Do the math. I mean, I had just left the crisis line where I dealt with crazy for four hours, I was really hoping I was done for the night. It was not to be.

Today I am really, really sleepy. Could be the rainy, cloudy weather. Could be that I stayed up reading when I should have gone to sleep. Either way, I'm sleepy. It's 8:15am and my Big Gulp is almost gone. Never a good sign.

In good news, I do believe Jessica is being induced today. We will have a new baby in the family soon! I can't wait to meet him/her (I'm thinkin' its a "him"). YAY! Babies are so much fun......when they're someone else's, that is. I'm having dinner with an old friend from high school tonight-that MySpace-always reconnecting people!!! It should be fun.

Happy Thursday!

Alert the St. Louis City PD-my gas pump was....unattended!

Leave it to me to have an eventful morning BEFORE getting to work. Ok, so, there is never a dull moment at the gas station by my apartment. It attracts a lot of crazies (probably because there is a group home down the street). Today was no exception. I stopped by to get some gas (because that's what you do at a gas station) and went inside to get a soda (sleep deprivation-I needed caffeine ASAP, more on that later). First thing that happened-went to pay for my soda and totally dropped it, spilling soda all over the freakin' place (can I not go an entire week without doing something stupid? Apparently not). So, I helped the girl clean that up (it was the least I could do), then this man sticks his head in the door and says "someone is out there stealing gas". The worker was like "where?", the dude pointed to MY car! I looked at him like he had four heads and said "Uh.....it's on my credit card" (I wanted to throw the word "moron" in there for good measure, but I didn't). He went back outside, the worker was like "uh, yea, we get a lot of crazy people in here". I considered showing the man my receipt to prove that I was not stealing gas (although stealing it wasn't such a bad idea since it cost me $35 to fill my tank). What an idiot.

Ok, so KD may just like a boy. SAY IT AIN'T SO! I am cautiously optimistic, given the last dating disaster/relationship I had (the words "trainwreck" and "lying, cheating bastard" come to mind....). I am very guarded, because KD will NOT get hurt again. It's not on the schedule. Anyway, been hanging out with a boy, we'll call him T (to protect the innocent, of course). Date #2 was last night, we had a lot of fun! We went and saw Shrek III (very cute, love that damn donkey!). I like hanging out with T because he makes me laugh-there is never a pause in conversation, we just chat and laugh the entire time we are together. I'm guessing he digs me because he asked me to go out again. Aunt Cheryl, it is ok to congratulate yourself right about now. Good job-your matchmaking attempt may have actually worked!!! We shall see what happens!

For the record, I want it to be known that no matter what happens, MIKE TINNIN will always be my favorite....... :)

CHUCK-O!!!!

Chuck-o is a vicious game, at least it is when my family is playing. It's every man (or woman) for him(her)self. Winner takes all. It could be more vicious than Yahtzee.....Jon, mom and Aunt Cheryl got the game set up for us.Dad's got the moves....he and I beat mom and Aunt Jan. We rock.Even at nine months pregnant, Jessica is still a fierce competitor....Jon and Uncle Ron.....Ron is running a tutorial on how the game is played...me and Aunt Jan...Jeff and Jessica-I can't believe Baby Jeffy is gonna be a daddy this week! I know he and Jessica are gonna be great parents. Baby Twyman will be very loved, that's for sure!Jon and Aunt Diane show us how it's done-or are they just staring at the bean-bag?professional Chuck-0 players, Red and GrantWhat form!!!! Yea....I sucked. Memorial Day weekend wouldn't be complete without some fine family fun. Our outing at Shaw Park was great fun (we missed the Dingiiii though...). When the rains came, we all huddled under the shelter and played games-Yahtzee, cards, stuff like that. We still managed to entertain ourselves. And, never fear, I was always there with the camera..... Here's 3/4 of the Baumgartner clan-Uncle Jimmy, Jackie and Grant (they are both taller than me-it's quite sad, really). Yahtzee, anyone? For the record-I came in last....dead last. Here's me and my sis. Aren't we cute????And everyone's favorite guy..........GRANDPA!!! (when he saw this picture, he said "hey, it looks like I'm a drunk". He's not-for the record.)
Jessica is quite the trooper-nine months pregnant and looking great! Baby Twyman will be induced on Thursday if she hasn't had him/her by then-can't wait for the new addition!!!! Clint-see what Jon was doing to your child!!!! Kira was scoring piggy back rides and mean, mean Jon took that poor angel child out in the rain....ok, ok, she LOVED it, but we wanted to make sure you knew what your child was up to here in the STL!!!Mom and her sisters, Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Jan. Could they look any more alike???? And now, for my favorite pictures of the day......THE PARTY PICS!!! These made us all laugh so hard..... this one of me and my dad is so funny, I almost pee in my pants just looking at it....Red, mom and I-the girls!!!me and my sisme and my cousin Grant. The best was when we were discussing how he made straight A's in school-I asked him if he had to study at all or if it just came naturally. His response???? It comes naturally. That's ok, because Red totally got called out by a five year old-when Red was discussing Shamu being a killer whale, little Julian was like, "no, Shamu is an orca". Touche. I love my family so much, today was great. I didn't get any pics of our stellar whiffle ball playing (I was totally hard core. Jeff's curve ball had nothing on me!!!!), or me and Red attempting to play washers-we sucked, let's just admit it now. We will all be together again in two weeks for Ben and Ashlee's wedding and I can't wait!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!! :)

Good Saturday so far!

Well, the NAMI walk went well this morning, despite the early morning rain. The turnout was awesome, as you can see, even Fredbird was there! I was proud to be a part of it, it is such a great cause. I had lots of fun walking with Hallie-love that girl! I especially loved the part when we saw this really cute guy jogging with no shirt on-no words were necessary, she and I just looked at each other and started giggling like school girls. LOVE IT!
These are members of the Independence Center, a great organization that provides all kinds of services to those with mental illness.
Here's my team getting started! Woo hoo! Thanks to Hallie, we all had pink ribbons in our hair. I think there were about 10 or 12 of us from the crisis line there-not so bad! Could have been better though!!!!!! We really had a lot of fun, and were done by 10:00am. That was my exercise for the day!

Since I know Mike loves it when I talk about baseball, I must tell you that this afternoon, I finally got to sit down and watch an entire Cubs game-don't think I've done that all year (Mike seriously-I thought you'd like a sport where all the boys wear tight pants....). They were on Fox today. I was laughing as Mark Grace was one of the announcers. Man, I spent most of my adolescence lusting after him (why do you think I became a Cubs fan in the first place???). The Cubs played a great game and my boy Big Z kicked some ass!!!! The bullpen gave us a scare, but the Cubs still won (can we trade our bullpen for yours? They suck!!!). My favorite boy Aramis Ramirez hit a homerun today. My hottie Ryan Theriot wasn't playing today-too bad. Me likes him. My boys are still 3 games under .500, good enough for 2nd place in the NL Central though!!! How pathetic is that?????

Tonight we are going to see PowderKeg. I know Aunt Diane and Aunt Jan will be there. Should e tons of fun. In fact, I'd better jump in the shower and make myself presentable!

5K-a-rama!

Well, got a 5K bright and early in the morning-I think we are meeting at 8:30am! I'm ready to go! I have another 5K next weekend down in Salem for Relay for Life, then Race for the Cure is June 16-I LOVE IT!!!!! Thanks to everyone who sponsored me for tomorrow race-you donations are going to a very worthy cause. NAMI is a great organization and near and dear to my heart since I work with the mentally ill. I'll try to do ya proud tomorrow!

Tonight I'm just layin' low and relaxing (and periodically cleaning). Got my People magazine-life is good. Tomorrow after the 5K will be errands and then I am going out to see PowderKeg tomorrow night-can't wait! Hope it doesn't rain!!!! Sunday is the big fam picnic-definitely looking forward to that and can't wait to see my mommy and daddy! :) My sister called me to tonight to advise their wedding pictures are in the current issue of The Ladue New (no joke), apparently I am in one of them. Must check this out. Run out to your local Schnuck's right away and pick up your very own copy! I must say, we all did look pretty damn good at their wedding....

Gotta love three day weekends!

This is the part where I don't miss being full time at the crisis line-actually having holidays off! Love it! The ironic thing is that I am working at my part-time job on Monday-time and a half baby!!!! Besides, what else would I be doing?

Ok, so, I had a date last night. I think it went well. We talked and laughed a lot. Of course, my old insecurities come in to play now-did he really have a good time? Did he mean it when he said he'd like to go out again? Only time will tell, my friends. Only time will tell. Even though I am sleep deprived, I am in a really good mood today.

My fam will be in town this weekend-yay! I must prepare myself for the task of making two dozen deviled eggs-I must love my family because, honestly, they are a pain in the ass to make. I can't wait to see everyone. I am soooooooo ready to kick some ass at chucko! :)

I want everyone to know that I love Mike Tinnin the best (and always will Mikey Poo!)

Is eating cheese dip at 9:30am wrong?

Not if you are on my team at work. Yes, we are eating cheese dip at 9:30am....this is funny-we are having a food day for Ywinta's birthday today except that............she called in sick. Well, good cheese dip can't go to waste, right? So, we are eating in her honor. It's the least we could do. There have been several inappropriate jokes about the sausage in the cheese (we're not very mature) already today. More to come, I'm sure.

By the way, definitely want Jordin to win tonight. The winner is tied to an American Idol contract and will have to put out that stupid, cheezy song as their first single....this would SO bring Blake down. He is way cooler than that song.

The cheese dip is almost gone. It's 9:50am.

She's cute.......isn't she????

BEFORE
AFTER
This is our Stubby girl. I think she is super cute. She just got all her hair shaved off for the summer...my dad calls her Ugly Stubby or Chubby Stubby (I can't argue with the chubby....). I think she is adorable. She's a spoiled little brat and has my parents wrapped around her stubby little paws, but she is still adorable. She does have a bit of an atitude problem, however. See her post on the Family Blog. She's kinda a biatch......

American Idol Finals-are you lovin' it????

Ok, first of all, what in the HELL was Randy wearing????? I mean, seriously. And I was pretty damn disappointed that Paula's nose wasn't wrapped up-that would have been funny as hell. Ok, so for the singing. It's my favorite, Blake, against the one who is probably the best, Jordin.....

ROUND 1:
Blake-First of all, he looked SO cute tonite! Finally got to hear his Bon Jovi performance-LOVED IT!
Jordin-the Christina Aguilera was ok. Round 1 Blake.

ROUND 2:
Blake-the Maroon 5 was ok......
Jordin-her Martina McBride was.....WOW. Round 2 Jordin

ROUND 3:
The song was dumb, let's put that out there first.
Blake-it was too hokey a song for him, but I think Blake did a good job with it.
Jordin-she was spectacular (even if the song was stupid).

Overall, if you base it on singing talent alone, Jordin has it hands down. If you base it on overall performance, sellability and marketability, I go with Blake.

I think Jordin will win. But guess whose CD I'd buy between the two of them???

Uh, and was Chris Daughtry wearing eyeliner? Cuz he looked kinda hot...... ;)

Mike is my favorite

I promise, you are Mikey Poo!

Why am I in such a good mood on a Monday morning? I guess because I have no reason to be in a bad mood. I have a good week coming up....a lot of working, but I have a weekend full of family fun to look forward to and I have a date......yep, KD is BACK IN THE GAME BABY!! Woo hoo! Plus, I'm having a good hair day today. You can't beat that with a stick! I think I am over my martini induced hangover from Saturday night. Let me tell you how much running two miles while dehydrated and hung over sucks!!!!!!!!! But I still did it. I have a 5K on Saturday morning, can't wait!
Well, it's another busy Monday, so I must keep it short so I can do some actual work. By the way....I am still laughing about Saturday.....

More fun from Saturday....

More pix................

I am still laughing....

OMG, yesterday was such a funny day. The events that occurred couldn't have been any funnier...and it wasn't even planned. I laughed the whole way home to myself yesterday thinking of the afternoons events and thinking about it now I am laughing again. I can't get into specifics, but let it be known that I am ok. I am more than ok. I am soooooooo ok. And to the ladies who took part in yesterday afternoons fun, we must do it again. Preferably without the drama, however, it was the drama that was the funny part.....:)
Last night was Mikey's housewarming party....such fun! Mike-the house looks great and Tiffany-so nice to finally meet you!!!! I got to see my 2nd favorite gay, Will (Mike made me promise that he's my 1st favorite). I can't wait to tell David that his lolita (martini) recipe was a HUGE HIT! My Kansas City gays came through for us-thanks a lot!!!!! Here are some pics from last night, and yes, Michael is in most of them........From top to bottom: Pic #1 is Mike showin' some cleavage....don't ask. Pic #2 is me and my sweetie Will. Pic #3 is me and Michelle (Harry Caray's daughter!). I love her! Pic #4 is Mike and Will. Pic #5 is Mike-not sure why he has that blanket on his head...must be the lolita's! Pics #6 and 7 are of Mike-he's kissing his new ch..ch...ch...chia pet...pic#8 is me, Will and Trevor. Pic #9 is me, Michelle and Will. And last but not least, pic #10 is Michael...not sure what in the hell he is doing.....

How much ibuprofen is too much?

Good thing I work with a bunch of nurses because I wasn't too sure how much Advil I could take in a day's time. I have an icky headache-the kind that makes ya feel nauseated and dizzy. It's real fun. Jealous? Ok, so I saw a bumper sticker this morning that made me laugh. It said "I love my country but I think it's time we started seeing other people". Funny ha ha, right? Uh.....ok.

Big weekend plans? It seems like I am really busy all the time all of a sudden. I have only been home one night this week. I really just wanna sit on my couch and read my People magazine, but I know it's good to be social, getting out of the house, all that good stuff. My friend Melinda is flying into town today from Wisconsin. I am meeting up with her tonight for some dinner (and probably drinks) and I'm sure some good times (she makes me laugh.....a lot....maybe I'll get her to tell the story about how she was at an Angels game talking about how nice Jim Edmonds butt is when an old lady behind her tapped her on the shoulder and said "I used to wipe that butt, I'm his grandma".....that story is priceless! Tomorrow is busy, busy too. Kids birthday parties, Mike's much anticipated housewarming party, I mean, geez people. KD can only be in one place at a time. I am missing Boogie's birthday party (makes me sad because those are my PEEPS!!!). We need to plan a sitting-outside-people-watching-night at Blueberry Hill!

Have a good weekend everyone. Tomorrow is Armed Forces Day according to my calendar, so to my cousins Mike (Navy), Clint (Marines) and Ben (Air Force)-happy Armed Forces Day!

Quite the controversy

Man, this whole Melinda-getting-booted-from-American Idol-thing has become quite the controversy around the office. My co-worker Michelle is crying just talking about it, even Dr. Smith weighed in with his opinion (he agrees with me, it's the teenyboppers that voted Blake in to the finals, unfortunately, not his talent alone). Melinda was just too old, it's the way it is. It's an ageist society-DEAL WITH IT. She'll have a good broadway career, or battle it out with Natalie Cole and Anita Baker on the adult contemporary charts. Don't feel sorry for her. She'll end up making more money than you and I ever dreamed of making.

I am tired today but in a good mood (weird mix, I know). I have Book Club tonight (yay!), we are celebrating our 4th anniversary as a book club. Isn't that fun? I believe in the four years we've been getting together, we've read exactly................um, five books. Pretty awesome book club, huh? Tonights' food theme is Mexican...good thing, cuz I've been really hungry lately. Must be all that running!

We are gearing up for what is sure to be the social event of the year-Mike's housewarming party on Saturday night. It will be the event to end all events. Only the coolest of the cool will be there.......PLUS, I get to see my Will who I have not seen in quite some time. Yay! :)

I so totally called it

I totally called the upset. Melinda got voted off on American Idol tonight. I, of course, was at work so I didn't get to watch it. But I was sitting there and a co-worker says "Kerri, you were right". Hard to believe....but there is ALWAYS an upset. Shrek will have a long career, no need to worry about her. So, the final two are as I called it many, many weeks ago-Jordin and Blake. As it should be. Instead of dialidol.com, just consult with me. In fact, maybe I'll start my own website dedicated to predicting who gets voted off....hmmmm...perhaps I'll do that with all the free time I have........HA!

GO BLAKE!!!

Dumb drivers

I cannot believe that St. Louis was only ranked 22nd for the worst drivers in the U.S. Uh-have you been to St. Louis? People are retarded here. Exhibit A: I'm on my way to work this morning when traffic comes to a dead stop on Hwy 170. This road isn't usually backed up in the mornings, so I automatically assumed there was an accident (hence the stupid driver). What was it? A semi had jack-knifed, the truck part was over the median (a good 3 feet high), and the trailer part was taking up two lanes on the other side of the highway. Yea....are you sure we're only the 22nd worst?????

Brrrr???

As I sit here and type, my teeth are chattering. Why on Earth would that be happening in May, you may ask? Well, it's pretty simple. I went out for my nightly jog, there I was, jammin' to some Keith Urban (really, it is some good joggin music!), when it started to rain......and I was a mile away from my apartment. No biggie, I figure, a little rain won't kill me, so I continued my jog (albeit turning around and heading for home), when I got back to my apartment, I was soaked from head to toe. I got my wet clothes off, but I am still freezing and it's been like two hours. Guess a nice, hot shower is in order.

So, in between American Idol commercial breaks, I was watching the country music awards. Wow-that Brad Paisley sure does have a cute cowboy butt.....sorry, but he does. You gotta love a man that sings a song called "Ticks". Yes, the creepy little woodland creature kind. Love Toby Keith's performance and totally loved John Legend singing with Big and Rich (you know, the Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy guys...).

Oh, by the way, my man Aramis Ramirez hit a grand slam tonight...last I heard the Cubbie's were up 10-1! Holla! :)

American Idol-the semi-finals

Oh. American Idol was some good stuff tonight! Yahoo! Here's my take on it:

Jordin-#1: it was great, nothing more to say. she's gonna win. #2. it was good-not a fan of the song, but whatever, she kicked ass; #3. she was absolutely fabulous, even if it was an old song.

Blake-well, lookie there, he changed his hair back to blond. Guess all of Tinnin's calls to the American Idol hotline protesting the hair change paid off, huh? Man, I haven't heard a version of "Roxanne" that good since Canada's karaoke performance of '97. That was hot and loved the little slidin on his knees action at the end....#2. Loved his take on Maroon 5...isn't that kinda a dirty song to be singing on prime time when the kiddos are watching, or is it just me? #3. never heard the song before, but i liked it! Blake had a GREAT night!

Melinda- #1: yea, she was good, real good. #2 I've never heard that song before, but she was awesome. #3-yep, awesome again. Not much else to say.

They were all so good tonight, hard to choose who is gonna get voted off. I'm afraid it will probably be Blake, but don't feel bad for him-he'll get a record deal no problem. And I will be first in line to buy it!

too tired to blog? Say it ain't so!

Yes, yesterday I was too tired to blog. I'm sorry to my Public-but I just didn't have it in me. And I even had a good weekend, did you? Friday, I went to Archivers at The Mills with some of the Book Club girls for a scrapbooking night-dorky, I know, but it was kinda cool. From 5-11, we got a lot of scrapbooking done, they served us dinner, we talked and laughed and just had a good ol' time. The best part? I finally got my sister's wedding scrapbook completed (never mind that her wedding was over a year ago...). Grandpa really liked it and is now requesting I make him a scrapbook for his 80th birthday this year. Hey, whatever Grandpa wants, Grandpa gets! Saturday I was up bright and early running errands and was at Grandpa's by noon to see him and my mommy who was in town for Ashlee's wedding shower. Ashlee's shower was really nice-we were at the Fleur Des Lis Tea Room in Florissant-very cute place. Got to see all my aunts and cousins-Ashlee got some great stuff. I laugh thinking about how they are gonna haul all that stuff back to South Dakota in their Nissan....ha! Saturday night I got to see some of my college friends. We all live in St. Louis, but haven't seen each other in quite some time-life gets in the way, I guess. It was Mike L's 30th birthday, his wife Lori rented out Demolition Ball for two hours of bumper car fun! I hung out with Christi on the sidelines (having twisted my ankle twice in one week, I wasn't sure banging around in a bumper car was such a good idea....). It was soooo good to see them all again. I got to see Mike and Lori's creepy little dogs, Marco and Brody, again too (they are those little mini-greyhounds. Sweet, but creepy). Sunday was Mother's Day and I got my butt up and went to church. Everyone was there-the Baumgartners, Red and Jon, Grandpa and my mommy. After church, Aunt Cheryl met us at the cemetary so we could visit grandma and wish her a happy Mother's Day. We know she watches over us and, in fact, there was a moment when we all got a bit emotional and all of a sudden, one of the rose petals fell off the bouquet-I know she threw it down as if to tell us to knock it off! :) She was sassy like that! Sunday night I went for a 2-mile jog (getting ready for 5K season!) and just chilled. Now it's Tuesday, American Idol night, which you know I love! I'm really sleepy today, have been for the last few days. Must be the PMS......was that TMI?

Get well soon Hank!

Yes, Hank gets his own blog post! Our baby boy had shoulder surgery yesterday to repair some damage he suffered after having been shot (yes, that happens out in the country). I was hoping to get to see my daddy this weekend as my parents are coming to the STL for a wedding shower, however, someone had to stay and watch Hank. Mom said he was still pretty out of it this morning, hasn't quite come out of the anesthesia yet (well, she said more out of it than normal-Hank isn't the brightest bulb). So, dad is on dog-sitting duty. I'm sure Stubby is helping out (yea right-she's probably in the house, in dad's chair, sitting like the pretty, pretty princess that she is). I hope you feel better soon Hankie! He's tough, I mean, he did survive a double shooting and all. That is why we also like to call him 50 Cent. :)

As if we needed further proof that I need group home placement....

Man, I am having a ROUGH week! The latest episode today? I was walking into work, when I suddenly tripped, fell, twisted my ankle and cut up my other ankle....the worst part? I SPILLED MY DIET COKE. I am taking a rain check on this day. I'm done. Of course, I have to tell the story because I am ok with making fun of myself. Thanks to one of my UR guys, who today told me he fully supported me living in a "supported community living environment" (a nice way of saying "group home for people that can't take care of themselves"). I need a case manager, and Mike Tinnin is the man for the job. Thanks Mike! Pretty soon, I'll be on SSD for my low level of functioning. There is a group home right down the street from my apartment, guess I'll just go ahead and move myself in.....

Just wanted to send some prayers to my Davidson/Lawson side of the family. My dad's aunt Ethel died this week. I'm not sure if I've ever met her, but she was one of my grandma's sisters, I'm sure they are together in Heaven now.

good TV tonite and other sad life experiences

OMG, The Office was sooooo f'ing funny tonight! That part where Andy fell in the lake with that sumo wrestler outfit on made me laugh out loud. And Dwight walking on the hot coals? I think that episode was as good as the Christmas one. Scrubs was funny too. Good TV night. It's a rare night when I get to just sit at home and watchTV and I enjoyed it. I got a post card in the mail today from my friend Canada....from Costa Rica....sent after he got back home to Canada.....but that's ok! As I told you on your MySpace page, it made me smile and I put it on my fridge with my Wrigley Field magnet (a place of distinction, for sure!).

Is it wrong that it's 9:12pm and I am ready for bed? I think not. I push myself all the time and stay up later than I should even on the nights I don't work. Tonight...I'm going to bed. Good Night y'all!

Soooooo bored.....

I am so bored today. I was over the day before it even began. Ugh, I'm still at work with not much to do (because I rock and get all my work done early, dontcha know?). Gotta love drunken phone calls from your brother's friends at 12:30 at night on a Wednesday...Tim, have I mentioned that I'm going to kill you? Consider yourself warned......My Cubs didn't do so hot today, they're back to .500. They're taking on the Phillies this weekend, we'll see how that goes. It's about time they played a team other than one in the NL Central! Can't wait to see my mommy and the rest of my family this weekend-mom is going to be in town for Ashlee's bridal shower-can't wait. Plus, it's Mother's Day on Sunday. And don't forget Demolition Ball friday night for Mike L's 30th birthday party. I'm being told that I will not get injured doing it, but I'm not convinced (given I almost electrocuted myself and dropped a frozen food item on my toe this week). Can someone give me some referrals for some good group homes in the area?

A little slice of KD heaven...

It really is the little things in life, such as finally having real TV and being able to watch Baseball Tonight EVERY NIGHT! I remember back when I lived with Red and Jon, that was my nightly ritual-Baseball Tonight then All My Children (what else are you gonna watch late at night?). I especially love watching Baseball Tonight when they say nice things about my Cubbies! How bout that Jason Marquis, huh? 5-1 baby, 5-1! A 3-hitter tonight-not too shabby!

Sad news to report, one of my fish died. RIP D Lee. He received a very nice burial at sea. Aramis and Lou are doing quite well, however. They have a new friend-a ceramic baseball playing frog named Dave. He rocks.

Ok, so bye-bye to KiKi on American Idol. Totally called it. I'm afraid my precious Blake may go next week, there is ALWAYS an upset, however, so it could be Melinda. Can't wait to watch and find out!

Well, I'm off to bed. It's 10:30pm and I'm an old, old woman. I need my sleep. Nighty night folks!

and in the "this could only happen to Kerri" category-Part 2

I just dropped a frozen Hot Pocket on my toe. It hurts like a son-of-a-bitch......seriously, I should not be allowed to leave the house.

and in the "this could only happen to Kerri" category...

Ok, so this morning I got up a bit early and thought I'd make the effort to actually straighten my hair-a rarity on work days because it entails getting up earlier than I want to. No biggie, I figure, so I get to work straightening my mass of waves. I get about half of my head done when it happened-yes, the straightener fell in the sink-where there was some standing water. It started hissing, my first thought was "what do I do?". Then I got the brilliant idea to unplug it (genius). Why was there standing water, you may ask? Well, because my apartment is like 60 years old and the plumbing isn't the greatest. Been meaning to get some more Drano...anyway...so, needless to say, I couldn't finish straightening my hair, so I had to throw it up on top of my head and head out the door. VERY hot. Here's hoping my straightener still works cuz I really like it......seriously people, I shouldn't be allowed out of the house..........

American Idol-the Top Four...

Ugh. Overall? I was kinda bored with tonight's show. Maybe it's because I have 200 channels now, but I found myself wanting to channel surf instead of watch the show. That being said, I did watch the show and here's what I thought:

Melinda #1-Ehhh....it was ok. I was pretty much over it though. Sorry. #2 was much better but I still wasn't overwhelmed with it and she had that damn surprised look on her face again...

Blake #1-ok, love the new dark hair. He is too cute. I thought the song was ok. #2-ok the judges were way harsh. Was it the best thing I've ever heard? No. Was it horrible? No. Maybe I'm partial at this point because I think Blake is cute......

LaKesha #1-Ick. Didn't like it so much. Love her hair long though. Too bad this competition isn't about hair. #2 was ok, she wasn't shouting this time. Pack your bags girl.

Jordin-#1-I'm telling you, she's gonna win. #2. Not as good as her first song. I think the first one was the best performance of the night.

I stand by my position that Jordin will win this thing. Bottom two will be Blake and Lakesha. I think it's KiKi's turn to go home. Guess we'll find out tomorrow night!

Dish Network and the DMV

Odd combo, I know. But this is how I spent my day. I took the day off from work so I could be home when the Dish Network guy showed up. Yep-he called me at 7:45am (so much for sleeping in...) and advised he was on his way. As he surveyed my building, he determined that he was going to have to put the satellite on the roof-luckily, my landlord just happened to be there and he gave his blessing. The guy was at my apartment for about two hours (does it really take that long?). Now? I have REAL TV! Isn't that exciting? And as I skimmed through my 200+ channels, I realized-there's nothing on. Sad, but true.

After all that fun, I decided to venture out to everyone's favorite place-the Department of Motor Vehicles. Great. I figured, it's 11am, beginning of the month, there won't be any lines at all, right? Wrong. I waited in line about 40 minutes, got up to the desk and informed Mr. DMV that I never received a Personal Property tax waiver. He looked at me like I was a moron and said "did you go pick it up at City Hall?". Now, how in the hell was I supposed to know that you had to do that? I didn't even know where the freakin' City Hall was. But I do now (Market and Tucker, in case you care). The Personal Property tax guy was really nice, got me my waiver and sent me on my merry way, announcing on my way out "the DMV is closed today you know for Truman's birthday". My response? "Uh...not the one on Kingshighway", to which the others in the crowd were like "really?", "you sure?", "that's where I'm going". Apparently, I saved the day. I mean, who knew that the DMV shuts down operation for Truman's birthday? So, back to the DMV I went, where I waited another 40 minutes and ended up getting the same Mr. DMV as last time, and he remembered me. This time, I was in and out in about two minutes, my only question was-why didn't I qualify for the two year plates? Now, I'll have to go back to the frickin' DMV next year.....

Well, after all that fun, I cancelled my plans to get an oil change and wash my car (definite car theme today). I did manage to vacuum my car, but that was about it. I went back home, did some more channel surfing (still nothing on) and decided to go for my jog around the park. I pushed myself this time and went further than I had been going. My back hurts now-probably because I am an old, old woman. The good news? That size 4 dress I bought for Ben and Ashlee's wedding? Fits perfectly. YES! Guess all that running is actually doing some good!

Tonight is American Idol night-YAY! Commentary coming soon...

Steers and Queers

Yes, it was a steers and queers weekend at the gay rodeo. Mike and I had some good times. I mean, where else can you watch a bunch of gay cowboys put panties on a goat? The answer? The gay rodeo, of course! There were some horses, and cows and drag queens-everything you'd expect at the gay rodeo. The drag queens were a little scary. Mike and I drank some Miller Lite, laughed a lot (especially when some dude walked by and called me "the wife"). It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Saturday night my girl Karen and I went to a benefit for our friend Denise's sister and niece (Denise's brother-in-law passed away suddenly a couple months ago). It was a great turnout and great to see Denise and Aimee again. Yesterday, I didn't do a whole lot-did some jogging then went to work at the crisis line for five hours. Fun stuff indeed.

I so don't want to jinx it, but my Cubbies are on a roll (I probably just jinxed it). Actually above .500! Yay! How sad is it when a record of 15-14 is good enough for 2nd place? Pretty sad indeed. Oh well, we'll take it!

I got to speak to my favorite Canadian, Canada Canada the 3rd, last night! Yay! We talked what, like two hours again, Canada? Well, in between the times when his phone died. Damn international calls......I always love talking to Canada!

Ok, work is crazy today, must go save some mental health lives. Happy Monday y'all!

Baby Gavin is here!!!!!

Congratulations to my friends Heidi and John. They welcomed a very handsome little man into the world yesterday. I am sooooo happy for you both and can't wait to meet him. I'm even happier that Heidi is no longer pregnant.....these last couple weeks have been rough! :) Just kidding-you know I love ya Heidi!

I have a stalker!

And he just happens to be the Most Good Looking Person On The Face Of The Earth....so, I consider myself lucky. And he's the wind beneath my wings.......

Marquis wins fourth straight in finale

You Cards fans sad to see him go now????? He's 4-1 and has the best record on the Cubs (not that that's hard to do, but still....)

I just may become a Jason Marquis fan yet....

need sleep

Ok, no more working my part-time job four nights in a row. That, mixed with lack of sleep, mixed with an icky, rainy week, mixed with a commute that was over an hour this morning thanks to some morons getting into an accident is a recipe for cranky today. Ugh. And my first call of the day at work was some snarky woman getting all kinds of attitude with me. Lady-today AIN'T the day. Seriously.

In good news, Chris finally got voted off American Idol. Really, he should have gone like a month ago, seriously. I must admit, I was a little sad to see Phil go. As well all know, I have a soft spot for Phil (for reasons unknown), but it was his time. As predicted, Blake is the last man standing. I feel a top 2 of Blake and Jordin coming on. I am SO not working next Tuesday and missing another week of Idol. Maybe that's why I'm cranky-because I didn't get to watch it this week.

I am SO looking forward to going home at a decent time tonight, getting in a good jog, then relaxing in my apartment. Sounds like heaven if you ask me. Maybe a bubble bath, read a good book and then to bed BEFORE midnight. It's good to have goals.

I'm a' headin' to Wrigley!!!

Ok, so it's not until Labor Day weekend, but a girl can still be excited! I love my Cubs and I love Wrigley Field and I love Chicago (that's a lot of things to love!). Plus, I'll get to see my friend Eric who I haven't seen in over a year. Yay! Can't wait, it's been a couple of years since I've been to Chicago. My co-worker Michelle (Harry Caray's daughter) has indicated she may be able to score me some VIP treatment at Harry's restaurant (YES). Love it! My Cubbies won a double header today, by the way. They are now 12-14, not so much impressive overall, but they have won 5 out of their last 6 games. I'm hoping their "June Swoon" was in April and that the rest of the months will be smooth sailing!

Countdown: Gay rodeo in 3 days!!!!!! Here's a glimpse into what you'll be missing:

Goat Dressing
This two-person event was created specially for gay rodeo. The team stands 50 feet from the point where the goat is tethered. One of the team members has a pair of jockey-style underwear worn over their forearms. When the whistle sounds, the team runs to the goat. The team member without the underwear picks up the goat's rear hooves, grabs the underwear from around the other member's arms, and pulls it up the legs of the goat. Both team members must then race back to the start/finish line and cross the finish line to stop the time. The underwear must stay over the goat's tail bone until the timer is tagged by both members.

Mike, don't be scared......

good-vs-evil

You know, I work with the mentally ill. People who can't help themselves, some who can, and some that are somewhere in between. Few of them would I ever call horrible people, however. No, I'll save that for people I actually know. Not that I know a lot of horrible people, mind you, but I do know some. The kind of people that will lie to your face and not think twice about it, the kind of people that will manipulate, cheat and deceive you in order to get what they want. The kind of people that think they have you fooled only, in reality, they are the ones that are the fool. The kind of people who lie so much, their lies have lies and it is this endless mess that they can't get out of. The kind of people who's BS is going to come back to them-tenfold. I firmly believe you reap what you sow. I don't say this out of revenge, rather, I think it's simply the way things are. Good people will win out in the end. Bad people will end up losing everything they think they have and will die miserable and alone. And they will have themselves to blame. I know this is kinda dark and I apologize for venting such things on my blog, but I had to get it off my chest. Oh, by the way, these horrible people I speak of? They're called SOCIOPATHS.

Some of you may know what I'm talking about, if you do, I'd appreciate NOT commenting on it here as I don't want specifics documented on this blog (it IS public, after all). Thanks in advance for that.

Now, back to Sunny Happy Kerri. Let's see, so far this morning, I've upset two hospitals AND had a psychiatrist scream at me on the phone via voicemail....yep, it's gonna be a good day! :) As my boss tells me, if I haven't upset at least one person at work then I am not doing my job. I'd say I'm doing it pretty well today.......HAPPY TUESDAY!
